It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

I think we're on thread no 24 - appropriate for the upcoming advent fun!

Sotd was AT L'Eau which works better in cold weather for me, it's less sickly and more soft.

Sote is one of the new All Saints perfumes, Sunset Riot, which to my surprise is an exact dupe of Baccarat Rouge! It's lovely Grin

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame for some tactical voting - we are usually a pretty safe Tory seat/ward, but I really hope it’s a different result this time. The polling station was mobbed after work.

teta · 12/12/2019 22:06

Me too @Judy. We are a very safe Tory seat as well so probably won't make a difference.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/12/2019 22:13

SoTE Exit Poll Despair.

Lotsofpots · 13/12/2019 08:30

What smells of despair and futility?

Sad
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/12/2019 09:37

SOTD FM Hiver. Our Tory MP lost his seat, at least, so I feel my vote did count for something.

Stinkyeddie · 13/12/2019 09:44

Sotd pp by the fireplace.
Going to a funeral today.
Seems oddly fitting with my mood.

teta · 13/12/2019 09:48

Ours didn't. I feel so down for the future. Not mine, my kids. Three of mine were born overseas and attend schools with international students. I've seen the increasing racism and xenophobia that Brexit has caused. I remember being horrified when Trump was voted in now we have the UK equivalent.

MrsMoggs · 13/12/2019 10:33

Might be a day to turn to Lush; Lord of Misrule, Death and Decay and Junk all feel like contenders for SotD.

Might break out the Shazam! later given its mood boosting properties.

KaliforniaDreamz · 13/12/2019 10:36

Love to you Stinky

SOTD Timeless to mask my despair with an air of pragamatism. i feel very strongly we will need to step up to the plate in our on communities and do what THEY won't. Make art, show compassion, be inclusive, support the vulnerable.

Great reviews x

MrsMoggs · 13/12/2019 10:50

Bloomin' heck Teta, your review today packs an incredible punch. Gave me goose bumps first, followed swiftly by tears. Do you write poetry? If not, you should...

Now I've read Kali's profoundly wise words, and I'm blubbing again. Thank you, brilliant Perfumistas, for solace and inspiration.

Will be thinking of you today EddieFlowers

Stinkyeddie · 13/12/2019 13:10

Thank you x

I'm allowing myself a day to wallow and feel sorry for myself then it's back to work.

Lovely review teta

KaliforniaDreamz · 13/12/2019 13:53

Teta lovely review. and i completely agree with you - the Britain First mentality is all out in the open now, and it is scary.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 13/12/2019 17:18

Teta, lovely review.

I feel exhausted, wiped out, bereft, hollow.

Stinkyeddie · 13/12/2019 17:30

Me too maud
I'm planning lots of cuddles with the dc and some nice treats 🍫🍰🍩🍷

Stinkyeddie · 13/12/2019 17:40

Sote 4160 white queen

Bluesheep8 · 14/12/2019 07:30

I've posted before about the nostalgic fragrances I'm keen on atm. Youth Dew and Rive Gauche are recent additions to my collection due to my memories of certain people wearing them. Another 70s perfume has now come to mind for the same reason - Panache (I think it was by Taylor of london) Anyway, I've googled the perfume notes and the description sounds lovely plus the price is so reasonable for an edp. Do any of you recall this one? How would you describe it?

Bluesheep8 · 14/12/2019 07:33

SOTD will be Rive Gauche.

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 09:09

Oh I loved panache!
And chique (very like estee lauder knowing!)
And lace and white satin!!
All gorgeous ^

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 09:10

Out for a family cinema trip today so I'll wear something not too strong :)
Maybe 4160 amberama

Bluesheep8 · 14/12/2019 09:45

stinkyeddie definitely going to get some and I'll check out the others you mention too. Re panache, I can always remember it lasting really well on the person I associate it with. I recall stripping her bed after she'd stayed and the pillowcases smelling of it. She passed away 12 years ago and I must be ready to be reminded of the smell I associate with her now. On reading the fragrance notes, it features coriander and I LOVE coriander so am looking forward to meeting panache again.

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 10:21

Love it when fragrances remind us of loved ones x

For my auntie audrey its estee or white linen.

For my dad its brut or old spice.

I always associate youth dew and opium with my mum.

Bluesheep8 · 14/12/2019 10:36

stinkyeddie yes, so do I. I'm going through a prolonged difficult time at the moment close family-wise and I think that's what's triggered this olfactory nostalgia. Almost as though I need to gather everyone around me, especially those who have already gone. My list is as follows, although some of the family on it are very much still with us.

Mum - Magie Noire or White Linen
Step mum - Rive Gauche
Dad - Aramis
Step dad - Kouros or Davidoff hot water
Mil - Panache
Auntie - Youth Dew
