QueenOfTheAndals - Daniel has a distinctive look of Bond Villain there.

Actually the overall look is rather Austin Powers!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/11/2019 17:58

Well, apparently Andrew's private secretary is now CEO of his 'Pitch at the Palace' project, although it won't be at the palace any more

News just in, PA has resigned from that too amid mounting pressure from sponsors, apparently.

thisenglishlife · 22/11/2019 18:00

Daniel and Victoria look like siblings!!

paradyning · 22/11/2019 19:11

CPV has lost her mojo. Hopefully the Nobels will redeem her.

AngelaScandal · 22/11/2019 20:17

I love how Charlene just exudes eye roll when in the presence of Albert.
I assume none of his additional children ever feature on the balcony ?

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/11/2019 20:52

Prince Daniel would look so much better without the gel. If he ends up bald he will regret all the years of hiding his nice hair.

JaimeBronde · 22/11/2019 22:18

Olivia Colman's not just doing it for me as HMQ however I'm only just finished episode 4 so she may grow on me. Olivia is a great actress but I've still got Claire Foy in my minds eye when I think of HMQ.
Now Helena Bonham Carter is brilliant, she is Margaret.
Funny thing is I originally thought H B-C was a strange choice to play PM & I wasn't sure it would work.

Going back to Kate not going to the evening thing last night. Now the DM are saying it's probably because one of the children was ill.
Mind you the DM make half of it up as they go along.

Thinking back to the late 80s & the 90s. The Sun & TNOTW always had great scoops & many of the stories (especially the royal ones) were later found to be true.............not bloody surprising when everyone was having their phone & voicemail hacked.

banivani · 22/11/2019 22:22

No, I didn’t like that purple CPV outfit either. The trousers fit as badly as the office ones I posted - she normally wears much nicer ones. I like her woman at work outfits and it’s fun when she wears the same stuff only shiny for events, so that was a bummer.

Let’s look at 12 of her gala outfits instead.

< delurks >

Hi everyone, I've been loitering on the these threads from the very beginning but have never commented. Thank you though to all the knowledgeable posters who share so much information and insight!

Anyway, something occurred to me about Kate's no-show. It's been mentioned on these threads that whenever the DoC or the DoS turn up at events there's loads of media coverage - front page splashes in the Daily Fail, pictures all over the internet, etc. And when the menfolk turn up on their own, they almost slip under the radar... Maybe the palace thought that it would be prudent for the RF to keep a low profile for a bit and not draw any more attention to themselves, hence Kate being asked to step back to avoid the additional publicity that her appearance at an evening event would naturally attract. So they cooked up the excuse about "the children" thinking that it's something that would be vaguely believable and maybe something that wouldn't attract too much probing ("people respect the privacy of the children" etc...) That's my theory, fwiw.

DevonUkelele · 23/11/2019 01:01

Hah! Charlene couldn't get any further away from Albert if she tried, in that arrangement 😂

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 23/11/2019 01:08

Haha, we see you @MamehaSan!

It's as good a theory as any. The reason given for Kate's no show was vague, but there was bound to be speculation whatever was said.

PinkSun9 · 23/11/2019 02:48

The Grimaldis, goodness the dreary and cheerless decor and equally glum family.

PinkSun9 · 23/11/2019 03:01

Just wondering that if Andrew n Fergie were to remarry now, would the HRH title be reinstated?

itswinetime · 23/11/2019 04:17

If anything the royal family would want Kate to turn up and change the conversation to her new dress at least a for a while. The fact she didn't and the event went lower profile means the papers have continued to focus on Andrew?

I doubt the wider family said anything but William and Kate May have decided they didn't want to be accused of being wheeled out to make everyone forget and getting the negative publicity 🤷🏻‍♀️

mathanxiety · 23/11/2019 04:25

There is a remarkable - if not out and out glaring - contrast between the impressions of the relationships conveyed by photos of Victoria and Daniel on the one hand and Charlene and Albert on the other.

mathanxiety · 23/11/2019 05:35

A lot of papers are mentioning Charles' role in the decision to give Andrew the boot. I wonder if he issued a kind of a 'family hold back' order to W&K just so that Andrew's public humiliation could be complete and unabridged, so to speak.

There have been reports over the years of disagreements between Charles and Andrew centering on the streamlining of the RF and resulting exclusion of the York family.

I wondered if BP under Charles' direction decided not to stop Andrew's boneheaded interview in hopes that he would be hoist with his own petard and all that would be left to do would be to see that the princesses didn't suffer from the inevitable fallout (which I understand from reports is a priority of BP).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/11/2019 06:12

@MamehaSan

Very good point about Kate bringing too much attention.
Although is it my Imagination, but since Pakistan and Green Velvet tux, is William’s evening wear getting a bit sharper. ?

Velvet evening shoes at the Royal variety and; what looks like a new tux, and it’s even buttoned up.
At the Tusks he was wearing that fashionable shade of blue which seems to be an alternative to black for evening wear.
I think our boy has got himself a stylist.
( time to work on the daywear...)

I get very confused with the Monagasques and who is whose son/daughter/in law but the lady on the right is wearing the most heavenly plaid dress. And Caroline looks beautiful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2019 08:07

@StCharlotte That's Beatrice, the best-dressed of the lot. I wonder why Charlotte and Stephanie's daughters didn't attend?

OP posts:
StCharlotte · 23/11/2019 08:40

Thanks Queen I thought it probably was Beatrice as she looked so chic but her hair seemed darker and I wasn't sure if she was around when that picture was taken.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/11/2019 08:52

Charlene always looks so sad. Wouldn’t be worth all the money in the world to me. I’ll stick to my lovely dh.

thisenglishlife · 23/11/2019 09:32

I agree, William's style has improved since Pakistan @CurlyWurlyTwirly !
