For a bit of nostalgia! I’ll kick things off..

  • Hard Candy makeup and nail polish. I had a quad of eyeshadows in purples and golds, thought it was the shit!
  • hair mascaras. Wtf were they about. Made your hair look like a gunky stringy mess
  • body shop dewberry body spray, which was the thing at our school, along with
  • wearing boy’s Lynx deodorant (I still recall which boys I fancied wore Tempest!)
  • heather shimmer lipstick, obviously
  • Rouge Noir nail polish, which everyone thought was the shit cos of Pulp Fiction, but it turned out to not even be the one that Uma Thurman wore)

Hit me with your memories!

Am I the only one laughing at the repeated references to ‘Rommel’ lipstick? (I know that it is probably autocorrect). What’s the shade? Desert Fox?

keepingbees · 18/11/2019 09:38

Ah love this thread!
Collection 2000 nail varnishes when they first brought out funky shades in the 90's. I had black, green, blue, glitter, everything.
Blue hair mascara 🙈
Woolworths beauty range, was called something similar to Natural Collection. I used to spend my pocket money on it, I remember peach or raspberry lip balm, white musk or Passion flower body spritz, and a nice tinted lip balm pot that I wore for school as we weren't allowed lipstick Grin
I also wore the Impulse body spray Vanilla range. Vanilla kisses was my favourite.
Anyone remember Kindred Spirit perfume? Was a very very bad dupe of CK One but teenage me loved it.

echt · 18/11/2019 09:42

Hide and Heal, ostensibly for pimples but more often used to disguise lovebites.:o

keepingbees · 18/11/2019 09:43

Oh and Tribe perfume!

Pound/discount shops sometimes do Covergirl make up for those who have said they like it.

LesLavandes · 18/11/2019 09:45

Sunglow - the bronzer. Eek. Was addicted to it....

itallwentwrongat30 · 18/11/2019 10:08

Charlie red..... I was obsessed with the stuff!!

scarecrowfeet · 18/11/2019 10:10

Anyone mentioned Timotei, also vosene when we were kids

thenightsky · 18/11/2019 10:14

@bakedbeanzontoast Yes, I remember Hint of a Tint! Also Glints and Shaders and Toners and the Harmony triangle shaped boxes of hair dye. I think I must have gone through 100s of different temporary colours over the years. And then I moved onto Henara Henna that stank of farmyards and went on looking like green diarrhoea.

bohemia14 · 18/11/2019 10:29

You can still buy Fidji perfume; I usually get it in duty free shops abroad.

I still use Vosene shampoo occasionally as it makes my hair really shiny.

This is such a great thread, so many memories. It's made me really nostalgic for Flex shampoo. I can conjure up the smell just by thinking about it. I loved it.

Bluesheep8 · 18/11/2019 11:41

I still wear white musk, doesn't last like it used to though Confused I miss body shop patchouli perfume....

TeaAddict235 · 18/11/2019 12:20

Salon selectives
Mane and Tail (made a come back and is very popular again)

And a blue bubble bath called carex or something similar. It smelt so lovely and clean.

Elizabeth Arden Green tea
Coal tar shampoo (Only God knows how this ever came into someone's mind)

Woods of Windsor

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 12:25

Woods of Windsor never went away.

Who didn't have the Avon peach soap-on-a-rope?

Darklane · 18/11/2019 12:25

Max Factor Electrique, Primitif & Hypnotique perfumes
Armani setting lotion
Miners solid mascara with little brush
Revlon Intimate scent
Clinique silver compact of cake eyeliner
Jean D’Albret perfume Ecusson...gorgeous.
Carmen heated rollers
Mary Quant make up
Coty make up, especially the loose powder in the tortoiseshell & gold plastic box
Estée Lauder Frosted Apricot lipstick in the gold metal tube.
Elizabeth Arden Memoire Cherie perfume
Helena Rubinstein Rose Dew moisturiser

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 12:33

www.woodsofwindsor.co.uk
The St Ives apricot scrub is still around too

Passthebubbly · 18/11/2019 12:33

I am sure savers still sells flex shampoo!

FionaCorkesWardrobebyKamizole · 18/11/2019 12:45

I've only just discovered that Crabtree and Evelyn went bust a few years ago, I miss their jojoba oil soaps and bubble bath.

And I miss the old Body shop for the passion fruit cleansing gel and japanese washing grains!

Moominfan · 18/11/2019 12:47

These threads always have a high proportion of old Body Shop stuff on them, I hardly ever buy anything from them now

I think body shop has really gone down hill. Quite sad it's really lost it's way. All mlm crap now

NecklessMumster · 18/11/2019 12:54

I've actually got a bit more into bodyshop recently. Salli Hughes recommended the carrot facewash which is good as is the chamomile face creamy cleanser.

NecklessMumster · 18/11/2019 12:57

Cosmetics to go Smaragadine (?) Bath /shower foam?

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 13:08

I think that the Body Shop stuff is great. It just doesn't seem to have the prestige of other brands, it's not a budget brand and it's not got the image it had in the Anita Roddick days.
Everything I've had from there has been fine.
I recently bought a large unopened jar of Body Shop face cream in a charity shop earlier this year for £1 - it was £25 in the shop, as I found out when I went to buy more. No wonder it was nice.

NecklessMumster · 18/11/2019 13:11

Dammit..I've just ordered a bottle of Fidji off the back of this threadSmile

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 13:13

Cosmetics to go was great. It was the same people as the ones who set up Lush, I think.

Like Body Shop, Lush has assistants who punce on you as soon as you enter.

justasking111 · 18/11/2019 13:39

Prescriptives had Calyx which was sold to Clinique who discontinued it. Have still not forgiven them.

Spied · 18/11/2019 13:44

I loved so many of these things mentioned.
My favourite perfume was the already mentioned Ananya before I moved on to Monsoon ( think it was called wild lagoon). I still crave that scent. I also loved Giorgio Beverly Hills Ocean Dream.
Twilight teaser was my lipstick of choice.
I also loved shockwaves mousse and would coat my hair with gliss shine tonic after washing with Revlon Outrageous shampoo.
I loved natural collection boots lip balms. My favourite was candy floss and Woolworths had a cheaper range called 'fruits of nature' that I'd buy if skint.
I had the Beverly hills 90210 body spray and perfume at one time that I loved.
I also had a just17 body spray in a pink impulse style tin ( limited edition?). I thought it was fabulous.

BlythesEyes · 18/11/2019 13:45

Loving this thread...loved these ... Papier Poudre and lip glosses
