@BeatriceTheBeast - this was the time that Meghan wore dark nail polish - and it looks great! The notion that it is some protocol violation is pure fiction invented by the tabloids.

Oh yes, I think she does look amazing there! Beautiful outfit. I don't really think the nails either make or break it though tbf.

As if her maj could give a proverbial about whether or not she has painted nails. Massive eye roll at tabloids and their readership .

The nail polish adds to Meghan’s overall look though, it’s a cumulative thing, her evening style make up is beautifully glossy as always, the glamorous black dress and statement bangles would look unbalanced with a nude natural nail, she has got it spot on in that picture, you could even say she nailed it...

I definitely see that it looks good on Meghan there, but I still think she'd look great with pale pink or clear nail polish. In fact, I personally think nude nails and slicked back hair is an especially lovely combination.

However, yes, her make up is quite glam there and that does lend itself better to the dark nails...

I don't think Kate could pull it off half as well, as is the case with all Meghan's best outfits imo.

The queens brooch collection is going to be the most interesting part of her jewel legacy. It's huge and who's going to wear it?
I suspect some will stick with the crown/consort like the items inherited from Victoria but the items she's been given like the ruby grima and the flower basket she will leave amongst the family. And 2ha5 happens to the value load she inherited from her mother who knows?

Well considering I was almost drooling & gobsmacked at the same time when we visited the Tower of London & saw the Crown Jewels, I'd be like a child in a sweet shop if I was princess in our royal family with access to the family vault.

I’m hoping Kate will have access to more jewellery once she is Princess of Wales.
These are all the important necklaces she has worn since she has been a duchess. I don’t think it’s that many bearing in mind she’s only worn them once.

I think the problem is that most of the classic stuff is too old fashioned for the clothes the younger royals wear.

I love the emerald necklace, I think that was the BAFTAs when she was pregnant with either Charlotte or Louis. She looks so pretty with a slightly fuller face.

Most of those necklaces are wearing Kate. I think she'll suit them more as she gets older; in some of those photos she looks embarrassed to be wearing them.

@slippyfeet Meghan has only been to a handful of formal engagements and alas none of them were tiara ones. I guess her time will come once Charles is king and she and Harry have to attend state banquets etc. She did wear some borrowed diamond earrings in Fiji but it doesn't look like big rocks are her thing.

That one-shouldered outfit MM wore, and indeed her whole look that night, was amazing. Makeup, hair, jewellery, occasion, shoes... talk about nailed it! Was fab 🤗.

Love Kate's "special" necklaces too, and agree it would nice to see a few more of them/see them more often. But that pale blue taffeta getup - shudder! It was godawful.

I seem to recall the arab states gave jewels to the Royals. Some of those old pieces are too big and clumsy. They ought to be refashioned, pinch a stone here and there, have simpler necklaces and earrings made. Fashions change and to be honest who would know that great, great grannies necklace was reworked.

Queen Mary’s grandmother was also a Duchess of Cambridge.

Diana regularly wore the emerald choker from the set but it was returned to HM after her death.

Diana wore some jewellery that would look beautiful on Kate today.
