He is going to be King. Her role is to support him and behave like a future Queen consort.

BlingLoving · 30/10/2019 09:44

I suspect that it's not dissimilar to queen and philip in that at home, she's in charge but in public, he is.

I would love a leather skirt but am really not sure I can pull it off.

Talc on the inside might help Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/10/2019 10:26

That just makes me think of Ross from Friends and his leather pants!

I had a miniskirt made from lovely soft leather but I had to ebay it as I lost weight and it got too big for me. I do like Meghan's green leather skirt - I think coloured leather looks less biker/dominatrix!

“ He is going to be King. Her role is to support him and behave like a future Queen consort.”
But wouldn't it be nice in 2019 if they could model an equal relationship and do the role as a proper team?

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 30/10/2019 11:27

I agree about coloured leather, it can work very well.

I didn't like the red skirt on Meghan but I thought the green one was one of her best looks.

But wouldn't it be nice in 2019 if they could model an equal relationship and do the role as a proper team?

What would you like to see, Bert?

BeaBravo · 30/10/2019 11:52

Wouldn't it be nice, Bert, if you in your self-appointed role of the Meghan Defender stop carping about Kate. She might very well take on a different role when she is Princess of Wales and her three children are older. I think she irks a lot of women who claim to be feminist because she seems so happy, relaxed... and slim! Bert thinks Kate is too thin.

BertrandRussell · 30/10/2019 12:04

I’m not carping about Kate. I’m carping about the system. And, if anyone, about William. If, as some people are saying, Kate takes a back seat as Consort in Waiting, it’s up to him to do something about it.

itswinetime · 30/10/2019 12:10

Kate's role is to be to William what the DoE is to the Queen. Obviously they are very different personalities and will take to the role differently. But traditionally it's a supportive role regardless of the gender of the person in the role is my point.

Hopefully in the 20 or so years till William takes the throne things may have changed more I don't think she will ever be as outgoing as Meghan (not an insult to either of them). But as the kids grow and she focuses more on work we may well see different sides to Kate.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 30/10/2019 12:29

HM has called Prince Philip her rock, I think the same of Kate.

UrsulaPandress · 30/10/2019 13:04

Signing in as you had fallen off my TIO

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/10/2019 13:10

Why would feminists dislike Kate because she's slim?? Confused

OP posts:
LeninySnicket · 30/10/2019 13:26

Feminists in general don’t get chippy about other women being slim and sporty but Bert definitely does; “My word she’s thin...” with the endless PA ellipsis said repeatedly, how she wouldn’t want to go out with her because she apparently has iron self control (apart from being standardly a bit heavier at uni like most people, she is slim like the rest of her family!) and because she couldn’t work in an office due to being besieged by paps and potentially being endlessly having stories sold, she chose to work in the family business and for a family friend, at absolutely no cost to the taxpayer. But she’s no role model dontcha know.

God knows what Kate ever did to Bert but being slim properly needs snide comments!

Marking place!

Madamfrog · 30/10/2019 13:48

@Apple Katie
It isn't surprising Sophie looks shorter than Maxima, she is 1m65 (5ft4 or 5?) and Maxima is 1m78 (so well over 6ft in heels).

MotherofPearl · 30/10/2019 14:22

Max in a rather sober suit. Quite like the neckline of the top, and her bold earrings certainly lift the whole outfit.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/10/2019 14:31

That neckline is very Cos but I wouldn't have had Max down as a Cos woman.

OP posts:
Balloondog · 30/10/2019 14:57

Absolutely love the neckline on Max's top but the whole black outfit is a bit dull and not very 'Max'.

thisenglishlife · 30/10/2019 14:59

Bert has criticised Meg too and praised Kate?

I do think that William supports Kate for the most part, but would be jealous if she received too much attention.

One thing is for sure - the photographers and crowds love Kate, Meg and Sophie: they can really outshine the male royals.

thisenglishlife · 30/10/2019 15:00

Sorry, I meant to say that I personally believe that Will wouldn't like Kate to work too much and outshine him. Not that he is usually jealous of her!

Blingandrings · 30/10/2019 15:15

Completely agree about the comments re Bert's bias. I am glad I'm not the only one who notices.

thisenglishlife · 30/10/2019 15:33

Kate wore a lot of long print dresses this year, have included some of them. What do we think of this style on her?

BertrandRussell · 30/10/2019 15:34

Just to say- I do think Kate is too thin. And that’s not a criticism. It’s a comment on how she has to present herself as a woman. So yes, it is a feminist point.

TSSDNCOP · 30/10/2019 15:35

Sorry Queen, I’d like to step in here and say I think this criticism directed at BR is unfair; there are plenty of posters on the very thread who criticise Kate far more aggressively about her weight, Botox, supplication, middle-aged dress sense, spendthriftiness and putting up with a alleged affair to name but few. Also re the Meghan defending, I think better reading of the comments is needed, as in most cases it’s less defending MM and more criticism of the utterly ridiculous and unfounded items that are written.

Again apologies, BR may not always write posts that I agree with, I just think these here are rather unfair.
