The Monaguesques are in Japan
I wonder why Charlene didn’t go to the enthronement?

peridito · 29/10/2019 20:24

Ah ,thank you for your reassurance and kind wordsQueen and BlingLoving.

SenecaFalls · 29/10/2019 20:25

@peridito Thanks for that post. It's good to know that Meghan is getting some support where it's needed. And hope you feel better.

I've pre-ordered Angela Kelly's book for my kindle, but it's not available in the US until next week. I'm really looking forward to reading about the christening dress in particular. My best friend and I made my granddaughter's christening dress. It took a long time, but it is beautiful if I do say so myself.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2019 20:28

I always like to think Charlene has a lover on the side - a tall blond tennis coach called Gunther or Hans...

I too am glad about the support given to Meghan - just the sort of thing that was needed. Am just about to buy the Angela Kelly book, how exciting!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 29/10/2019 20:41

Hope you feel better soon @peridito

IfWishesWereFishes · 29/10/2019 20:54

Sophie's shoes are very odd looking!

And I don't agree that even Max can carry off that velvet combo horror!

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 29/10/2019 21:11

I thought about posting the MP letter story too @peridito, if that helps. You beat me to it. Meghan will I'm sure appreciate the gesture of female solidarity. Jess Phillips in particular has had some horrible experiences with online trolling.

Blingandrings · 29/10/2019 21:12

Can’t see it had been mentioned up thread, but the dreaded DM reports that Kate is doing her best to help Meghan.

Inniu · 29/10/2019 21:18

Oh, I have a christening gown that is over a hundred years old. When my twins were being christened my mother had a replica made an dyed it in tea to get it to the same colour.
She actually unpicked the two layers of the gown and each twin wore one layer of the original and one of the replica.

My mum would make a great ladies maid/ dresser!

Northernlurker · 29/10/2019 21:21

We went to Balmoral today. Very much enjoyed the winter tour. It's a much smaller house than you'd think.
In the exhibition there's a copy of all of the Queens Christmas cards. Very interesting,

AppleKatie · 29/10/2019 21:22

I’d love to be a fly on the wall of a ‘right let’s cut the crap and sort this all out’ conversation between Kate and Meghan 😃

KimchiLaLa · 29/10/2019 21:30

I think she runs the show actually. She's deferential to him and very sensitive to his moods, but she is no fool and she's the one who calls the shots I suspect

I've thought that for a while. I'm a republican but find Kate fascinating; she's so self assured and self contained.

I bet every night the Queen offers up a prayer "Thank you Heavenly Father for Catherine, she'll make sure these fuckwits don't cock it up when one is gorn"*

Yes, agree

Blingandrings · 29/10/2019 21:51

That really made me laugh! I didn’t know you could do a tour of Balmoral. Is it open all year apart from when the family are there?

Northernlurker · 29/10/2019 22:13

It's open April to July when you can go in, selected dates in October and November for tour outside and the ballroom.

frugalkitty · 29/10/2019 23:09

Inniu that's such a lovely story, how sweet. Mine aren't christened (DH and I couldn't agree on which church to get DS1 'done' in, so it just didn't happen). The closest I have is that I sewed a piece of my mum's wedding dress into my train when I got married as her dress was much too small for me to wear.

Gooseysgirl · 30/10/2019 00:15

We also have a family robe that my grandmother made over 80 years ago for my uncle's baptism. I think to date about 15 babies have worn it!

JaimeBronde · 30/10/2019 02:24

Thanks for the new thread Queen
I'm also looking forward to reading Angela Kelly's book.

Had a royal MN dream last night.
I was in an office waiting for the lift to arrive. The lift door opened & out stepped Hottie with @frugalkitty who was dressed in a cobalt blue leather skirt & silk shirt. Frugal looked like Holly Willoughby (but I knew it was frugal as she said hello Jaime & waved at me)
They were looking for Mette-Marit as she wasn't back from shopping for a leather skirt!

I've got leather skirts on the brain now.........Smile

mathanxiety · 30/10/2019 02:30

Family baptismal robe here too. It's made of Irish lace and my mum and all her siblings wore it beginning around 1930. DS had to be christened at the ripe old age of one week so he would fit into it. He was a chubby little lad..

RosesAndLilies · 30/10/2019 02:58

Thanks for the new thread.

Great to see the Queen like myself loves a dress with pockets! Smile

StCharlotte · 30/10/2019 07:07

JaimeBronde

Excellent royal dream!

And I think MM would rock a leather skirt.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 30/10/2019 07:14

@JaimeBronde
That’s made me laugh out so loudly this morning dh was like wtf!!

frugalkitty · 30/10/2019 08:58

Jaime ooh, in a lift with Hottie! I wish Grin

thisenglishlife · 30/10/2019 09:05

I agree that DOC is aware and self assured, but she'd never do something if William didn't want her to - even if it was preferable.

AdaColeman · 30/10/2019 09:19

peridito Hope you are feeling better today.

I've got a family christening robe too, made with the lace from my Grandmother's wedding dress.
