I second what Ella said @PinkDaydreams, I follow the Styled by Susie Tribe on FB & had a style analysis done (not necessary to join the group, but I would recommend it) & I’ve got so much more clothesconfidence! The latest podcast Ella mentioned is really brilliant & worth listening to.

@Ellapaella I have a leopard print maxi from New Look which might work or a khaki spot dress from Zara. Warehouse has some gorgeous autumnal maxi dresses but beyond my budget now! I have the Mumsnet New Look dress we all have 😂 maybe that could work?

Ellapaella · 30/11/2019 13:24

Yes give it a try.. I hadn't thought of that.

Thank you for your advice SmileFlowers I’m not on fb but I will have a listen to her podcasts and try boost my confidence!
I’ve noticed a lot of you find some good buys in tkmaxx, I’m going to have a look in there next time I’m in town. I don’t think to go in there as I don’t like the jumble sale concept of it but I’ve seen a lot of nice items on here which have inspired me to go in and check it out!

KiteflyingKat · 30/11/2019 13:46

Hello all!
@Ellapaella you look fab and I hope your son has a great party.

Welcome @PinkDaydreams. I was also unsure about the chunky boot trend and held off for ages. And I still think mine make my feet look huge. But they are comfortable and practical - unlike all the huge heels that were fashionable when I was growing up.

I’m not a complete covert to the chunky boot though and I do have a couple of pairs of boots with heels but wider lower heels that I can walk in, not stilettos. I also love high tops trainers and find TK Maxx a good place to get them.

@mrsG I need style book but can’t face the prospect of photographing all my clothes Grin

Today:

  • Wool jumper - Karen Millen via charity
  • Jeans - New Look
  • Boots - Timberland

@PinkDaydreams I wasn’t on Facebook either & joined solely to join that group!

@KiteflyingKat after some googling I found the vast majority of my clothes on google images! I haven’t taken any photos myself

Talisin · 30/11/2019 15:25

@Happierwithouthim Sequins! Also fabulous colour.

@Ellapaella I love that cardigan on you, it hangs just right - and I know exactly what you mean about them being hard to wear. I buy them and then a couple of years later get rid having realised I’ve worn them maybe twice Blush

@PinkDaydreams I have to feel absolutely bloodyminded to be able to shop TK Maxx successfully. It’s just too big and too stressful otherwise.

Dressing today for a) sofa time for a favourite, guilty pleasure Hallmark Christmas movie on C5 and b) a (hopefully) slightly higherbrow trip to the cinema to see Knives Out later.

Halo jumper (Hush)
Glitter thermal top (TU)
Jeans (Lidl)
Boots (New Look)
Jacket & Necklace (Amazon)

Jumper is in the machine!
Braved the local shops this afternoon and bought a couple of pairs of jeans in Topshop (coated Jamie jeans and some ripped ones which I’m not sure I can pull off but will give them a go) and a lovely boucle/teddy coat from Miss Selfridge which is somewhere I never think to look in these days as it makes me feel old! Lots of Black Friday deals still on so the shops were super busy!

Ellapaella · 01/12/2019 09:22

@Gilbert82 I've spent far too much on BF shopping...

Today I'm wearing the AllSaints jumper and Levi's. We are going to put our decorations and tree up today 🎄

Me too @Ellapaella, I’m planning a no spend January!

Sooverthemill · 01/12/2019 09:57

I thought I might try a no spend until March. Except knickers!

Sooverthemill · 01/12/2019 10:03

So, comfy Haan today. It's not so cold thank goodness

Jumper: baukjen
Trousers : baukjen ( outlet) so comfy
Trainers: brand new from eBay and great because I can slip on and off as I still can't bend without agony! Bought this week deliberately for my bad back (£15) and I may keep just for bad back days as I'm not overly keen on the look

OublietteBravo · 01/12/2019 10:04

I’ve also spent a lot of money in the past week or so. I’m being diligent about sending things back if I don’t love them though.

We’re putting our Christmas tree up today too. It’s the last weekend day we’re all around until 22 December (I’m going to Iceland for work thus week, DD leaves on her school ski trip before I get back, and then DS leaves on his school ski trip before she gets back).

Top: Gap
Jeans: Mint Velvet
Trainers: Jigsaw

I’ll need to put a jumper on to go out, but haven’t settled on one yet.

Ellapaella · 01/12/2019 11:35

My DC have been poorly too Kat - flu I think - fevers, headache, coughs and chest pain for a week, he's so tired and sleepy.
Let's hope they all get better soon.

My household is still ill 🤒 I’m going back to work next week & I’m going to be infecting the whole team 🙈

I’ve also bought a lot this BF. Assuming I keep all things yet to be delivered: 5x jumpers, 1 cardigan, 1 dress, 1 work bag & 1 necklace. I was only supposed to buy the bag & necklace. I have a personal shop booked in March with Sarah from Styled By Susie so ideally I’d have a no spend until then. I certainly have enough to keep me going until then.

KiteflyingKat · 01/12/2019 12:24

Yes I hate this time of year as everyone is always sick. Currently holding off buying tickets to an expensive Christmas party until last minute as each year I buy them then someone is ill!

@mrsG good luck for your return to work. How many days will you be doing? Is your childcare all sorted?

KiteflyingKat · 01/12/2019 12:28

I did a no spend year a few years ago. I did crack a couple of times but I mainly managed it.

Gilbert82 · 01/12/2019 12:49

Yes good luck with going back to work @happytobemrsg

happytobemrsg · 01/12/2019 13:52

@KiteflyingKat I’m very fortunate- DH works from home & is very hands on. My MIL also has the boys every week. I’m just going back 2 days a week (I’m a contractor) which is perfect for me right now. I’d like to build it up with other clients eventually

PalacePaper · 01/12/2019 14:59

Hi everyone. I haven't posted for a while (I used to be summersummershine but I've name changed as that didn't feel quite right for the weather we've been having!) but I have been following and as always admiring all your lovely clothes.

I have FINALLY found a midi skirt I like and I'm very excited Grin Mostly the length is awful on me and cuts my legs off very unflatteringly - I think it's because I'm short. But this one seems to fall at the right point. And it's not pleated - pleats also look awful on me and make my hips look huge! Wore it yesterday to go shopping with DD with old M&S jumper and Tu boots. Also wore it to go out for dinner with DH on Friday. I love it!

Still cold here today so I'm wearing a cashmere/merino jumper and jeans - and cherry red DMs when I went out. Feeling nice and cosy Smile

@Ellapaella I love your all saints jumper, it looks fabulous on you

@happytobemrsg good luck next week!

@Sooverthemill I hope your back gets better soon

And hope everyone with cold and flu feels better soon!

Sooverthemill · 01/12/2019 15:29

@PalacePaper ooh nice skirt!

OublietteBravo · 01/12/2019 16:44

Where are you all finding your lovely skirts? I had a wander around town today, and hardly anywhere had any skirts on display (the only exception was the Oasis concession in Debenhams). However, I didn’t buy a Christmas jumper, a sparkly green jumper or another pair of trainers - this is progress!

I’m away in Iceland with work this week. I really need to actually do something about packing. (At the moment I’m working up to this by having a cup of tea and browsing MN).

Ellapaella · 01/12/2019 17:18

@PalacePaper I love the skirt! You look great, love how you've styled it.

OublietteBravo · 02/12/2019 08:41

Final day in the office before my Iceland trip. So I’ll either be posting fewer photos (no suitable mirror/busy schedule) or more photos (because I’ll be wearing 2 outfits a day).

Jumper: Uniqlo
Skirt: Next (£11 in the end of summer sale)
Trainers: Jigsaw

(I really don’t know why my hands are in such a weird arrangement in this photo).
