And what would they be OK to wear with? Obviously jeans etc, but what about skirts/dresses/nice linen trousers? Would I look a twat?

You might get away with wearing them with jeans but absolutely not a dress skirt or any other material of trousers. Except maybe cargo/camping type trousers. And only whilst on a hike . Grin

GruffalOH · 19/10/2019 15:43

Struggling to picture those with skirts or dresses...

Sparkletastic · 19/10/2019 15:45

Fine for walking the dog. Not ok for anything else.

saltysally · 19/10/2019 15:46

They are hiking boots, OP. Wearing them for anything else will look a bit daft.

feelingsinister · 19/10/2019 15:46

I can only imagine wearing those for a dog walk or a hike.

Whatsforu · 19/10/2019 15:46

They are definitely walking/hiking boots so I would so dress is a big no no. Great if you walk alot.

saltysally · 19/10/2019 15:46

Anything else other than outdoors

DaanSaaf · 19/10/2019 15:47

Have you linked the wrong boots op?

zonkin · 19/10/2019 15:47

They are outdoor shoes for hiking, walking the dog etc.

Can't see them going with a dress or anything other than outdoor wear.

Ohyesiam · 19/10/2019 15:47

Well if the mum in mind likes walking, yes.

CanaryBlossom · 19/10/2019 15:47

They’re walking boots. I’d only wear them with waterproof walking trousers, or jeans at a push of out walking.

Wouldn’t be seen dead in them with dresses, skirts or linen trousers.

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/10/2019 15:48

They are walking boots. Boots that people wear to go for long walks. Not fashion boots.

WTF99 · 19/10/2019 15:48

Yes you would you did ask Grin

CanaryBlossom · 19/10/2019 15:48

I’m also wondering if you’ve linked the wrong boots.... Confused

bigtotwig · 19/10/2019 15:49

Honestly? They're only for hiking, definitely not for wearing as a casual trainer type boot.

If you want to wear with dresses, you'd need something more like these...

pigeononthegate · 19/10/2019 15:49

No, I haven't linked the wrong boots!! Grin

I am walking A LOT, around 10 miles a day - have a lot of weight to lose and walking is the only exercise I can really do right now apart from swimming. I have plantar fasciitis so it's really important I have footwear that is supportive and comfortable for the walking. But also want to be able to wear them most of the time.

The classic MN "mum boots" were boots that had been fashionable-ish in the late 90s, but by the late 00s were only worn by out-of-date "mums" (because of course we love to use words like that to criticise other women.

So many 90s trends are in the shops, those boots are surely due to be trendy again?

CharlieandLolaCat · 19/10/2019 15:51

So go and see a physio and get some advice, some exercises and probably some insoles. There are plenty of things you can wear you just need a bit of advice from someone who knows what they're talking about.

teachermam · 19/10/2019 15:53

They are walking or hiking boots

LemonPrism · 19/10/2019 15:53

You can wear them for hiking? I wouldn't wear for anything other than sports/outdoors activities tbh

AppleKatie · 19/10/2019 15:53

Confused they are for hiking. They aren't for nice dresses/skirts.

cheesewitheverything · 19/10/2019 15:53

Wear what you like! You want to walk a lot and those boots look very comfy and durable, so wear them and walk.

Charlottejbt · 19/10/2019 15:56

I don't see why you can't wear them with normal clothes. If you're walking a lot, it's surely better to wear hiking boots than unnecessary head-to-toe Goretex. Could you maybe find a more discreet design, without all the clashing swirly bits?

teta · 19/10/2019 15:57

Buy some really comfy trainers.
Those around here signify that you are over 65, retired and have come walking in the hills with appropriate outdoor clothing and a rucksac.
