Tell me honestly, are these "mum boots"?

And what would they be OK to wear with? Obviously jeans etc, but what about skirts/dresses/nice linen trousers? Would I look a twat?

What's the physio say about the increase in walking OP? Doubling it is a lot!

Not sure if they stock these in the UK, but these are Merrell and would go with way more outfits:

Well done on the weightloss!

I wouldn't wear those with dresses personally but comfort comes first for me.

I have a pair of Timberland boots I bought last year that I can walk for miles in - not sure I've done 10 in them though! - that work well with dresses and opaque tights

Otherwise can you wear trainers? I've got some amazing adidas ones that are super comfy.

They almost look like football boots and they'd look terrible with a dress unless you want to look as though you've given up on style completely.

I have these, they are proper walking/hiking boots. They look great with a 3 in 1 waterproof jacket and a backpack for a nice walk in the woods. They look ridiculous with a skirt!

They are great if you walk a lot, waterproof and hard wearing, mine are three years old and going strong.

They’re perfectly serviceable hiking boots, perfect for lots of walking.
I absolutely wouldn’t wear them with skirts or dresses though.

The ones peach moon linked would work much better for skirts and dresses,

Wear them with a ball gown if that's what you'd feel most comfortable and happy in. I wouldn't worry about what others thing if you like them.

As walking boots they are fine, to be worn with walking/active wear.

You cannot wear them with dresses or skirts!

I hate the term Mum boots because it’s so derogatory.

I personally wouldn’t wear hiking boots with a skirt or dress, but then I wouldn’t go walking in a skirt or dress.

I would go walking in jeans, an anorak & hiking boots.

You’d look like you were going for a hike in a dress. Might be the look you’re going for. Who are we to judge?

Merrelll are great walking boots but for every day? With skirts?

No way.

I go through similar boots loads as I walk tonnes, I love skirts and boots but no way would I wear these for anything but exercise.

Try the Vionic website OP. I have PF and their shoes and trainers have been a Godsend www.vionicshoes.co.uk/

Don't wear them with dress or skirt but tbh you should just wear them when you want. You walk a lot of miles and have plantar fasciitis so if it was me I'd just wear them and go about my business. If they help your feet wear them, what's the point in wearing something that may look more fashionable but kill your feet.

I like the look of those Fitflops....

Something like these would look better and be comfortable for walking.

Fitflop do different soles so try on in person so you know which ones give you the support you need. I like the Anatomicush sole which you can search by on their site.

Walking boots arefashionable this year but it tends to be those that have more angular soles like DMs. I've worn my walking boots with skirts and cozy tights because when it's snowing that is a very warm combination. Meh. Definitely not Mum boots.

I hate them, but only because they are exactly what my bil and sil wear. Not just for hiking though, all the bloody time.

I’m sure they’re totally great for walking but would look gopping with regular clothes.

There is nothing nice about linen trousers. Sorry.

If you want to wear something like these boots, I suggest looking at the current M&S seasonal displays / looks. These boots remind me of a less trendy (sorry) version of the boots they are pushing. It looks quite cool the way they have done it actually.

I would wear hiking boots with dress or skirt absolutely. I don’t particularly like those boots though OP. I always think there are no rules about fashion at all, and find I like the thrown together casual look rather than the boring jeans, trainers with thigh length jacket look, which can look really frumpy and mumsy. Don’t worry about what others think, just be you.

I am in the country with horses - so the mismatches I see and out on make those totally acceptable.
I think weight loss is the priority and well done you ❤️

If you were in Cumbria this would not be an unusual boot.
It wouldn’t even be gendered, or age related, just regular going about your day boot.

That or Bon marche, mountain warehouse or

Dubarry Grin

If I recall, this is far from what people called a mum boot.
