It sounds like a lovely outfit Apple!

Applefairy · 07/01/2020 15:20

Tomorrow I’m going to wear this. I look nothing like the model and it’s not boot season where I am. Also navy suede mule sandals which have a block heel. And a dark denim fitted jacket.

MrC I thought I was good. I was all wool on a separate wool cycle with Woolite detergent. Only dry clean cashmere if the care label specified it must be dry cleaned.
I don’t roll them (used to, not sure why I stopped).
Cotton jumpers just get bunged in a normal 40 degree wash and hung over airer (not on a hanger).

Applefairy · 07/01/2020 17:43

With coats, I have a Joseph double faced cashmere wrap one in black that is my ‘go too’ as it’s plain but cosy and elegant - so the cost per wear has been worth it. One of my more successful ‘investment pieces’.

Chloe Marcie has also had decent CPW and is very resilient - it survived the toddler years and it still looks great.

Common Projects white trainers would win my CPW shoe category.

Unfortunately, I’ve also had many CPW failures Blush

What are your best CPW items in different categories?

shopafrolic · 07/01/2020 18:20

Good question Apple I’ll have to give it more thought but best handbag is a very old Mulberry Mabel Hobo and best trousers are my Helmut Lang leather leggings that Lib found me and my Joseph leather leggings.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2020 18:23

Worst CPW was any of the £££ stuff I bought when I was wrongly colour matched as an Autumn.

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2020 18:26

Yy to coat bring in easiest spot and easiest to wear. Mine is downstairs on hat thing already rather than in wardrobe. Doesn’t help the others.

Good question Apple

Coat - Maison pea coat
Shoes - will be the Legres now but was Sorels (which became dull to wear) and Manebi espadrilles in summer
Dress - MSGM dress

The other stuff is a bit harder as I mix it up more

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/01/2020 18:31

hello vougettes!

As always, sorry ive been MIA, again. Stressful festive period and ill again so haven't really been keeping up with anything. Have not bought new clothes in...ages as i feel too fat and frumpy to even try. Though i did get a few bits for christmas which are hardly vogue but i love them any way! Boots are fab shop very you. I keep trucking with my good old dr martens, no sense me changing what works for me! under doctors orders to try and lose weight so will not be buying new clothes until i do lose at least some, it will be hard work though, its less what and how much i eat and more directly in line with my medications that i can't stop. sigh will work round it one way or another

Thanks

CPW

bag - marcie mini - I’ve worn in to death, I got it sept 2013 and have just retired it wearing nearly every day.

Shoes - a Leather tan pair of block heel ankle boots from new look (premium) There are at least 5 years old Probably more. They are the comfiest shoes I own, wore the whole weekend in New York a few years ago, and I wear them a lot, they have not aged at all.

Clothes - I’ve a moschino dinner jacket that is circa 1999, and a Black lace RedValentino dress that I pull out when I don’t know what to wear, the dress always looks good and the blazer looks amazing with boyfriend jeans on dressy/not dressy nights out.

I have a lot of failures too, I spend a lot more on evening wear (dresses and shoes)and wear something once whereas a £20 Uniqlo jumper (or the before mentioned primark dog walking boots) get worn again, again, again...

Themarvellousmrsm · 07/01/2020 19:34

Love hearing everyone's ootd.

Waves to One - sorry to hear your health issues are still on going.

Karcheer * - I spend a lot more on evening wear (dresses and shoes)and wear something once whereas a £20 Uniqlo jumper (or the before mentioned primark dog walking boots) get worn again, again, again* - Someone on here said years ago that it's worth spending on the items that get worn a lot rather than something that will sit in the wardrobe which really resonated with me. Anyone like to take the credit?

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 19:39

@Themarvellousmrsm I alwAys think this, but rarely works Out that way.

Themarvellousmrsm · 07/01/2020 19:49

Oops bold fail - Karcheers sentence was meant to be in bold

Great question Apple. This winter the best cpw are without a doubt my MV trainers and Uniqlo cocoon coat.

Overall stans and Maison Scotch jeans/ trousers (have several pairs & repeat buy) also a Whistles coat which is now looking very worn but I love it and a grey Kate Spade bag whose name escapes me

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 20:25

Anyone going to Disney this year?

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 20:30

think im going to order these not sure whether to get Green (my colours), blue (a good compromise, but might look a bit worky?) or black...?

Do you think they are american sizing?

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2020 20:39

Karcheer I like them all but I’m going to say green for you, I like that outfit

Gucci Disney!

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2020 20:39

It says U.K. sizing a lot in details might be UK - not sure though

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 20:44

what do you think of this outfit for travelling - does it look a bit too much like PJs...

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 20:53

These are nice.

Karcheer · 07/01/2020 20:58

think im going to order these kids ballet pumps.

libertyonhertravels · 07/01/2020 21:44

karcheer I was dumbfounded when I clicked on your ballet pumps link and it suggested wearing them with knee high socks. Took me a minute to work out they are kids range Grin. I'm not keen on the quilted effect heels though (sorry).

My OOTD is Whistles leopard print cotton fine knit sweater, ankle grazer slim cut black trousers from Witchery (Aussie high street), loafer style dark green suede shoes with gold bar, gold hoop earrings, olive green Rains raincoat.

libertyonhertravels · 07/01/2020 21:59

Best CPW coat is the See by Chloe brick peacoat I bought from Shop after she discovered her misdiagnosis Smile. I think I may be wearing it when I'm 90.

Best bag is MBMJ crossbody taupe Natasha (I think it's Natasha). Again, fab quality and great size and shape. Use it all the time.

Also great CPW on a beige and cream Splendid wool poncho. So cosy and warm and I always get comments when I wear it and I wear in in front of TV in winter, on long flights and out and about on cold but dry days.

My Sam Edelman Petty boots died recently. I need a replacement for them. Low heel, good with skirts and dresses both for work and casual as well as with jeans, could walk for miles in them.

libertyonhertravels · 07/01/2020 22:03

Also a midi floral dress in navy from H&M has been amazing CPW. I think Mara bought the same one. I wear it all the time. It's probably down to 50p or less per wear by now.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2020 22:05

Glad that my loss on CPW was your gain Lib
And that my best CPW was chosen for me by you Smile

MrCollins · 07/01/2020 22:16

LibGrinGrinGrin

Karcheer, love them and hope you get on well with them. Love the leggings, the mules not so muchGrin

If I think of things I use/wear constantly so Cpw down to pennies then 3 things stick out for me: 1) j crew toothpick and matchpick jeans. Worn every weekend! 2) R&B ballet flats. I live in them in Spring and Summer. 3) Zara black blazer. About 16 years old and the most perfect jacket in the world.

Applefairy · 08/01/2020 02:07

The R&B pumps are going to be like the Castaners for me. I like them but they will not like me back - I need a heel and no ankle tie. Although my Lanvin flats are good CPW for me - I think it’s as they are so plain, they don’t draw a lot of attention down to my feet.

I always try to spend proportionately more on the style of clothes I wear the most. Really helped me to lift my game.
