Sorry! I was in a meeting and dropped the ball.

it’s currently still available on net à porter
£1,635 Dry clean Only. That’s quite an impractical summer dress.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/09/2019 13:23

I don’t think they’d put George in a pair of 30 year old shoes!
I think Kate buys very similar looks but even Louis’s shoes are very slightly different to George’s. Hand me down clothes are fine; but not shoes. It’s not good for children’s feet.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/09/2019 13:24

I quite like the dress but I wouldn't have guessed it cost £1600k! I'm partial to wedges but not these clunky ones.

UrsulaPandress · 10/09/2019 13:28

Looks like seersucker to me.

Can’t believe I’ve just typed that.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 10/09/2019 13:34

She does dress very literally.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/09/2019 13:35

In light of our conversation the other day, do you think Kate got some baking tips from Queen Mary?

I've met a few very rich and/or posh people in my time, and I honestly think they just see the world different. They don't think that a £1700 dress is that big a deal - at most it might be seen as making a bit of an effort, which is appropriate in her role. I've met people who have literally never stepped into a Next or similar and who, if they did pop into Zara etc would see it as a bit of fun with a few throwaway outfits.

I worked with a woman once who honestly was shocked that not everyone bought their work shoes at Russel and Bromley. She was lovely, but just had an entirely different world view. To her, their shoes were high quality and sturdy without being excessively priced. Note, at the time, she was earning about £30k. But she came from money, as did her DH, and he had a very big and fancy job somewhere in the City.

Wetdogloveshubert · 10/09/2019 13:39

I don't like the wedges, but Kate always glows at these events. I like the button detailing on the wrists.

I find it odd hat such an expensive dress isn’t lined!

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 10/09/2019 13:47

This is very similar.

£145.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 10/09/2019 13:48

I love the dress!

I also have friends who’d only shop in R&B for shoes.

AppleKatie · 10/09/2019 13:50

I like the dress and also agree she doesn’t consider money like we do!

There are rights and wrongs there obviously but it’s not deliberate as such.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/09/2019 13:52

Kate’s speech
She’s definitely getting more confident in her public speaking.
This photo is cute!
She’s definitely lightened her hair a few shades.

Ninkaninus · 10/09/2019 13:54

I think the dress is lovely and suits her.

itswinetime · 10/09/2019 13:56

I like the cut of the dress and the buttons, the pattern is a no from me I agree with whoever said it's very cath kidson!

£1700 is ridiculous! She has better cheaper dress but then lots of royal fashion seems to be ridiculous expensive at least this isn't a carbon copy of another outfit.

BertrandRussell · 10/09/2019 13:57

Most people have no idea what the lives of people a couple of income rungs above or below them are like. You only have to look at private school threads on here to see this. The assumption that because someone can’t afford school fees it’s because they’ve made “different choices” about what to spend their their money on. And the threads about people having trouble with family childcare are full of “put him into nursery” or “get a nanny” comments. And “dip into savings” . And even the infamous “have a spa day”!

BertrandRussell · 10/09/2019 13:58

I can’t understand why she likes Emilia Wicksteed so much. At least this one is better than the plain coloured crimplene looking ones.

queenofarles · 10/09/2019 14:05

curly yes that blue one is still available, the yellowish one went on sale and SO pretty quick.

A consultant I know for over 15 years, only wears brown Ferragamos shoes I honestly thought he owns just the pair Blush , they always look so spotless and clean But he informed that he buys multiple pairs at a time, and they last for years and years. I guess lots of old monyed people do that? They buy very similar things all the time, and give the impression of not buying lots or wearing hand me downs,
because there Is no way shoes , even clothes can last that long in good nick,

whitershadeofpale · 10/09/2019 14:10

I wonder who this is about Hmm ?

Today's Blind Items - Royal Family Bonanza

Much of the vitriol and leaks about A (alliterate one) are coming from B's (pedophile and lover of them) camp. C (on again/off again ex of B and apparently at least once serviced the dead pedophile) is still livid about various grudges relating to A's pregnancy announcement and D's (offspring of B&C who spent time with the pedophile, but not as much as D's sibling) wedding. C has been slowly edging her way back into the family with the hope of remarriage once E (racist old guy who, much like Larry King will seemingly live forever) kicks the bucket. All this scandal isn't helping that cause. Keeping the focus on A's antics also keeps it off B. C contributed anon tips for the foreign television show that trashed A.

The state of F's (sibling of B who never makes the news) marriage is in the trash. Apparently she's gone full cougar and is having a dalliance with a younger man. Like father like daughter.

G ( A's husband/frequent excuse maker for flying in private jets/privates holding after a wild party/secret parent to a child who was born in Vegas, but now apparently lives in North Carolina) and H (Bald guy who sure does look like a dear friend of his mother. I'm pretty sure everyone in the family looks like each other though after all these generations of reproducing with your second cousin) are barely speaking H's wife wants another baby just to take her mind off her cheating husband, but hasn't wanted to sleep with her husband to conceive.

The boss is aware of all of the above and is happy to let A (aka Wallis A's last name is what she is being called) The boss also believes that C is responsible for B being hooked up with the pedophile in the first place, since there has been a constant and decades long scrounge for money to pay C's bills. I would blame it on the madam for the introduction who B wanted to sleep with everyday or threesomes anyway.

banivani · 10/09/2019 14:19

The Emilia W dress is seersucker (which I agree is quite retro) and fully lined according to the sellers. It's pretty but I agree that dry clean is ridiculous. I think it's very English (British if you like but let's face it, English) and suits the occasion perfectly. Not to mention UK designer ... well, Commonwealth then. Smart and appropriate.

Horsemad · 10/09/2019 14:21

I like the dress but not with those wedges, although I agree wedges probably best to wear on a garden event.

Not sure if I believe the blind at all!

queenofarles · 10/09/2019 14:31

Lots of cotton now days is dry clean though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/09/2019 14:31

Wow, that's a lot of alphabet soup to unpick in that blind! But I am most agog at the idea of Princess Anne: Cougar Extraordinaire!

OP posts:
Horsemad · 10/09/2019 14:34

Yep, why IS cotton dry clean nowadays? 🤔

Laiste · 10/09/2019 14:40

The Boss = the Queen
A = Meghan
B = Andrew
C = Fergie
D = Eugainie
E = philip
F = Edward
G = harry
H = william

Good game! Grin
