I was inspired by the lady hale thread and Butler and whatever its name but I got this cheapo from ebay for £3.99. Envisaging it with black tops and trousers or my gorgeous navy swishy slip skirt and navy top.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/09/2019 21:18

Oh I got it from ebay. Plenty from china in different colours but mine is from somewhere in London so will come sooner. I am hoping it is as good as it looks! [ahem..pardon the pun!]

Ellapaella · 26/09/2019 21:23

If you want good quality knitwear for not ridiculous prices (looking at you Toast) then have a look at this site [] https://www.and-daughter.com]]
If I paid £300'for a jumper it would have to be the only one I bought for at least three years. Even the best quality wool isn't going to last 3 years of being the main item of clothing worn.

Ellapaella · 26/09/2019 21:24

@neveradullmoment99 I love that broach

Ellapaella · 26/09/2019 21:24

Pendant even HmmBlush You had me confused with Lady Hale talk!

Sooverthemill · 26/09/2019 21:25

@neveradullmoment99 an experienced knitter would probably take 10-12 hours to knit something like the toast cream one above. So it's quite labour intensive and the quality of the wool is very high with toast. Retail yarn prices for a similar jumper would be about £60-70 ( though toast would pay less). So maybe £120 altogether? It's an expensive craft! Which is why I'm reaching for my needles again and teaching my DC

Ellapaella · 26/09/2019 21:27

Link fail there... that was not the site I was trying to link... that's just as bad as Toast (although gorgeous).
It's this one I meant to link...

Ellapaella · 26/09/2019 21:28

I used to knit. My grandma taught me when I was only young, I could knit some basics, I'd love to take it up again and knit myself a chunky cardigan or jumper.

miffy2 · 26/09/2019 22:33

This should link to the black sequin skirt I have from Warehouse from a couple of years ago. It was quite reasonably priced IIRC. I saw they had it again last winter; I will keep my eye out for it again this season as I need to get a smaller size. I wore it twice for Christmas, and for nights out too, with a plain black jumper and one that says Sparkling on it. It would be fab with a cream or plain black blouse too.

Hello you gorgeous bunch I've missed being on here but I am trying so hard not to spend and as soon as I come on, I'm tempted....... case in point I've just ordered the satin M&S midi you posted @never 😂
Even though I know it will be too big..... wtf is that all about? Convinced myself that for £14.75, if it's amazing, I can have it altered or put a couple of stitches in.... see how little willpower I have?
I do have a bit more spare cash this month (well once I get paid on Monday) so I'm going to treat myself to something from hush.... has to be versatile.... thinking either the velvet or the tux jacket but I love the new drop so much.
I needed cheering up...... new bathroom is underway and it's been taken back to the brick..... old Victorian black filthy soot everywhere.... so thanks for the skirt inspiration never..... it looks amazing! I'm envisioning wearing it with either a chunky white knit & boots or dressing it up with a black lacy top and heels 😊

Sooverthemill · 27/09/2019 07:43

@Ellapaella go to my pinterest knitting board. That will inspire you! You should definitely take up knitting again. I've started again after a huge gap and am loving it

SoyYo · 27/09/2019 09:48

Morning lovelies.
Yes never that satin skirt started me on the slippery slope so hoping the 12 is not too huge...love the Hush coat btw. Great choice 👌 the necklace is really quirky too.

soover yes high quality hand knitted jumpers are very labour intensive thus the ££

huff you bad Girl for reminding me of Brora which I totally adore and so many bargains there! Well bargains relatively speaking for Brora quality...I may just have placed an order Blush...

Gin you need cheering up with the sooty bathroom hell and don’t you have a birthday coming up soon? Wink so you need a Tux! I already have a few coloured velvet jackets and a silk velvet coat and a silk velvet evening short jacket so really couldn’t justify the marvellous Hush velvet jacket. Whereas I didn’t own a plain black Tux jacket and I really like mine as it really will go with everything and it’s kind of an all season Tux. But the velvet is amazing.

miffy that black sequin skirt is great! And well done for wearing it lots more than I have mine, I think black is a very wise choice as more versatile than gold or silver.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 10:17

Well @soyo, the coat came and it is a bit snug across the hips mmm....its perfect on the shoulders. I am wary that a 12 might not fit as I am still losing weight [ well hoping too] Its beautiful and classic and has a high % of warmth. Not sure what to do. Its maybe too 'smart' for my lifestyle. I may consider the Marks and spencers one which is about £40!!! It has no wool but beautifully soft.
As for the hush crops I absolutely love them. I ordered a 12 and a 10. The 12 are a little big on the hips. The 10 are a little snug on the waist. I think I will keep the 10's as they will fit me better in a months time. The fit me fine now...just a bit neater.

@soyo - not trying to enable you but I love this.

medb22 · 27/09/2019 10:20

Hello, hushistas. May I join you? I've become a bit of a Hush addict over the last six months! I bought a Farah dress, an Emmanuelle dress (red) and a Chanel-style boxy jacket in the sale, and recently bought the blue Fiona dress which I think I've seen a few times on this thread.
I am currently being tempted by the Emmanuelle dress in the new colours, but I'm a bit reluctant to pull the trigger, since I already have a few dresses of that or a similar style.

Does anyone have the Dionne skirt? I am only 5'3, so I wonder whether the length might be all wrong on me. Also, I see that it is 100% polyester, so I also wonder if it might feel/look a bit cheap IRL. Neither delivery nor returns are free where I am, so I have to think carefully before ordering.

Also, I'm going to start a thread asking this anyway, but thought I might ask here too - I'm going to be in London next month for a few days, and was hoping to do some shopping while there. Can anybody recommend any mid-range shops/boutiques that are not the typical 'high street' ones? I see there is a Joy near my hotel, for example - has anyone shopped there?

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 10:51

Hello @medb22 of course you can join! No experience of the skirt but may be others have :)

Have ordered a 12 in the coat to scratch the itch. Should come tomorrow so we will see. On reflection the 10 seems too neat when I consider jumpers etc. that I may put under it.

SoyYo · 27/09/2019 10:56

Hello 👋 med Welcome to the thread! Sorry can’t help on the skirt but if you wanted to “try” there’s a 10% discount code on right now SEPT19.
On London boutiques I hope someone will be along soon as the only shop I make a point of visiting if I’m there is the Gudrun Sjoden shop in Covent Garden. They also have an online shop (Scandi colourful style) so you can have a look to see if it’s your kind of thing (I may just be one of their few fans on this thread). What I like about the physical Covent Garden shop is that they have a “bargain basement” where you can pick up high quality basics in gorgeous colours and prints for a song.

never oh shame about the coat! Sad but now you know and I’d be highly tempted by the bright blue version if it was vastly reduced in the winter sale...ah that M&S shirt is gorgeous so will have a look in store next Monday when I pick up the satin skirt...having said that I got super tempted and ordered 2 x Brora silk chiffon shirts vastly reduced on the sale already Blush

SoyYo · 27/09/2019 10:57

Ah I see now you’re trying the 12 coat never! It must be a good one then Wink

medb22 · 27/09/2019 11:00

Thank you! The discount code might cover the return alright, thanks SoyYo. Off to google that shop now.

dontcallmelen · 27/09/2019 11:04

medb22 welcome I haven’t bought anything from joy, but it’s good for a browse & they have some quirky stuff, convent garden does have a few different shops, the only area I can think off the top of my head for non chain shops would be Marylebone high street, sure if you start a thread you will get loads of ideas.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 11:07

Coat in a 10. Its pretty plain.

The Hushistas flirt with autumn
neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 11:10

I would have very little to match that blue but it is gorgeous. I probably won't keep either tbh. Its expensive (even although it would be an birthday pressie from dh) tThe 10 is neet on bum. Tummy and hips when closed so it may be my pair shape as its straight up and down.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 11:12

I am not sure its really worth the money although it is 70% wool so its got a pretty high percentage. Too much wool for me would be itchy on the neck. Its beautifully made. Not too heavy either. With the discount its about £150. I still think I could get something cheaper.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2019 11:13

*neat on the bum!
