I take it back, the Meryl is the same price as last year.. ...

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 10:47

So, burgundy Toast dress is packed up ready to return. I tried it again with a different belt this morning and can't get it to work. The velvet tank top on the other hand is my favourite thing ever. Will make a perfect Christmas outfit. Have styled it with another vest underneath as I need the extra length, and some velvet shoes from last years M&S sale that have never been worn. Would also work with ankle boots or heels for Christmas parties.

Laska2Meryls · 24/09/2019 10:57

It looks great Huff ( and I so want to live in your house!!)

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 10:58

Can someone talk me down? I don't need a silver sequin skirt right? It seems stuck in my basket

Laska2Meryls · 24/09/2019 11:35

Dont ask me !! You know what I am like 🤣

Laska2Meryls · 24/09/2019 11:36

Would look fab with a velvet top if you had one...😍

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 11:42

Hahahahaha that is not helpful!!

twosoups1972 · 24/09/2019 11:52

Morning all,

@Laska2Meryls can't remember if I said, but I totally LOVE the hat, it looks great on you.

@Huffthepuff shame about the dress but the velvet top is fab. Whilst I was waiting in the minor injuries unit with dd last night (3 hours!), I popped a few things into my Toast basket.....and eventually checked out Grin I'm trying the berry shirt dress plus a couple of jumpers and velvet tops. I still can't get over their prices though, I thought Hush was expensive enough!

Update on dd - she has a small fracture in her ankle bone. She's been given a boot and crutches and is feeling sorry for herself. I'm trying to be upbeat but it's hard. Her bedroom is on the second floor (loft room) which she managed last night by bum shuffling up the stairs but its hard work. I'm now going to try and borrow a folding/z-bed so we can set her up to sleep in the living room.

Just had a quick look at the new Hush drop - the blue of the new Meryl is divine! Couple of other things I like the look of but will have a proper look later.

mumtoadancer · 24/09/2019 12:42

@Huffthepuff the sequin skirt is beautiful!!!! I keep looking at it too. I have absolutely nowhere to wear it but if you do then I think you should get it. (Sorry thats not very helpful is it?)

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 13:04

No @mumtoadancer not really. I think it would sit in my wardrobe for a year then I'd sell it. Unless there's a way of dressing it down...

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 13:32

Sequin skirt with a black chunky knit and biker boots and biker jacket? I think it's great for the Christmas party season but could also be dressed down if feeling adventurous

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 13:33

I'm not keen on it with those brown boots they've styled it with though to be honest. It's a bit too 'out there' for me.

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 15:07

Yes @Ellapaella totally agree! I really don't like the way they've styled it. Such an odd combination

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 15:28

Love the blue Meryl and Stories lookey likey. Unfortunately that colour blue isn't good on me. Love it though. Quite tempted by the black version but not at that price and obviously I'm still no spend!
Velvet blazer is a beaut. Would be lovely with leather leggings.

Huffthepuff · 24/09/2019 15:40

Are you tempted by the coated jeans Ella? After September of course! I might give them another try. Also love the Ophelia cotton blouse and the charcoal version of Never's slinky skirt. And the linen v neck tees... I could spend a fortune, if I had it!

NotAnActualSheep · 24/09/2019 16:27

Oh yes, I like loads of stuff in the new collection, but don't need any of it.

The petrol cord dress is lovely, and the velvet jacket - and of course the blue Meryl (though like ella it's not my best colour). I actually like the brown boots, though not with the sequin skirt! (though my boot taste is famously off-piste). Actually really like the black meryl teamed with the red/pink pleated skirt - but I have both of those things basically (obviously different colours/ patterns), so may give that combo a go in the spirit of shopping my wardrobe. And if i don't buy it I can basically afford the toast cardi, no?

soover - so glad hush has agreed to send out the shirt to sort out their mistake. That reassures me customer service hasn't totally gone to pot! Hope it comes quickly for you.

miffy - hmm Hmm . How are you supposed to clean the jumper then?! That's bonkers. In fact, all their cleaning instructions seem to have gone up the spout recently. The Meryl instructs that a machine hand wash must be done at 0oC. So we're supposed to put an ice block or something in our washing machine then??!

huff - Love how you've styled the velvet top with the necklaces. Perfect for Christmas, as you say. Shame the dress went back - it really suits you, but if the waist will annoy you, best to return Sad. I still want your house, by the way. The sequin skirt is indeed fantastic. Honestly though, I think you know it will be the kind of thing you always intend to wear, but never quite have the occasion for (or wear once and not again...). I'm sure it can be dressed down, but not sure I'd be brave enough to try! (sorry for the dis-enabling). Lovely thing to have in your wardrobe and look at and get out to do the ironing in every now and again, though.... bet you get it anyway. I would

soups Ouch on your DDs behalf. Hope she's feeling a bit better now she doesn't have to shuffle up the stairs and can live on one level... Yay on the toast order. Sounds like a fab selection.

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 16:46

@Huffthepuff I do love the coated jeans but I already have a pair fortunately 😁

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 16:47

Only thing I really want come October is this Oliver Bonas dress [[

Sooverthemill · 24/09/2019 16:53

I'm a bit fed up with the way they drip drop the new season stuff! Makes it hard to budget! I like the velvet slinky skirt but have nowhere to wear it and the super soft top and the Meryl jumper. And I already had two things in my basket.....

twosoups1972 · 24/09/2019 17:17

@Ellapaella that dress would look fab on you! OB have some lovely things and very good quality.

Ellapaella · 24/09/2019 17:20

Thanks soups - it's definitely in my basket! I'm really liking their autumn collection.

miffy2 · 24/09/2019 18:40

Hush have now removed the line saying do not wash (Brigitte jumper) - hmmm, I am really tempted now I know I can wash it :D

miffy2 · 24/09/2019 18:45

I bought a lovely sequin pencil skirt from Warehouse two years ago, in black, and i wear it for Christmas with a black jumper and heels. It is a lovely stretchy material so perfect for tucking onto big dinners.

It is nice to have one very dressy skirt in the wardrobe. I actually have two as I bought a silver velvet pleated skirt from M&S last year! It is not unlike the new Hush one and I will drag it out for an airing this winter.

So, now I am keep to get the Brigitte (although I fear it may be scratchy hell) and the blossom skirt. I know I have a dozen similar skirts but in my defence I wear them all year round.

I love the cobalt blue of the Meryl/Stories jumper and it is a shade that suits me well, but I have just splashed out on an M&S cashmere jumper in cerise so I will have to limit myself to 2 winter jumpers this season. I bought waaay too many last year.

dontcallmelen · 24/09/2019 20:15

Huff velvet top is soo lovely stamps foot as I want it too, love the sequin skirt but am very partial to a bit of sparkle, so no help whatsoever😳
Soup oh crikey hope you manage to beg steal or borrow a bed for downstairs.
Laska how did I know you would get the blue Meryl!!
Ella the OB dress is fab.
I like a lot more of this drop, than previous one but I’m trying to hold out until middle of October then would have done three months no spend & think seriously about what I really need, as quite a few of the jumpers I bought last year have already gone to the charity shop, I do need some new jeans but anything else is more want than need.

Laska2Meryls · 24/09/2019 20:22

Blue is definitely my colour 😊 I have more blue that anything else in my wardrobe..
