Hi Hoooo how ru?

I picked up a few samples today, also sprayed a lot on myself and then couldn't remember the bloomin' names...

i have to say i now find reading about perfume, smelling perfume and discussing perfume a real comfort (my happy place) and think of you all when doing so!

Miller Harris Dance is quite nice too - very green smelling.

teta · 09/10/2019 20:43

Silences Kali. Is a cheaper alternative to No. 19. I actually much prefer it as I find no 19 a little chilly. Heute exquise is also beautiful.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/10/2019 20:55

SOTD L’Air de Rien, for a trip to see Judy at the cinema. Love daytime solo films, but it must have been pensioners’ discount day, because it was busy with elderly women nattering right through.

KaliforniaDreamz · 09/10/2019 21:04

Hi judy how was the fillum?

Bit of a Miller Harris theme going on...
Brighton Rock is horrible btw.

Hoooo · 09/10/2019 22:03

Any good judy? I'd quite like to see that.

I'm shattered kali just very, very tired and ankle still sore.

Busy day tomorrow too so hoping for a better night.

I sprayed mmm by the fireplace at john lewis yesterday....the pp version really is indistinguishablw to my nose.

Speaking of which...sote pp by the fireplace ❤

teta · 10/10/2019 16:02

Wearing vintage eau d iparie by L Occitane today - Frankincense and Myrrh.
I'd forgotten how much I love this. It's just right for this horrible weather.
It's a green tinged incense to begin with that mellows down to a warm ambery incense. Its very unique and i've never smelt anything the slightest bit similar.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/10/2019 21:19

SOTD Jazz Club.

I enjoyed Judy but it was a hard watch in parts. So sad at the end.

Hurry up, weekend. I finish for a fortnight tomorrow, and honestly am SO ready for it!

A week here and GOD I'm ready

MotherOfDragonite · 11/10/2019 12:09

I'm now ill, as well as the toddler. School runs for the eldest have been impossible and I've been calling in lots of favours. Feeling really lonely and miserable.

SOTD is Al Haramain Tanasuk, which (along with a cup of tea while DD2 naps) is making me feel slightly more human.

Hoooo · 11/10/2019 13:24

Awww mother (hugs)
It's horrid being ill and having to look after ill children - your world just shrinks for a time.
Hope you all feel better soon x

Hoooo · 11/10/2019 19:56

Sote kingdom scotland

Good grief, I've not posted on here for 10 days! Shock That has got to be a record for me.

Anyway, it's been a long, busy week. I've been enjoying some classics, including EL Youth Dew on Thursday, for my mum who died three years ago on the 10th. I wore it so much when she first died but tbh now really only get it out on the anniversary days. However, it is wonderful, particularly once it's been on for a few hours and has lost some of the tricky aldehydes in the top to become a warm, sweet, spicy amber, really beautiful.

Have also been wearing Givenchy III, and SOTD today is vintage L'Aimant - how fabulous is this?! It's absolutely the scent of my childhood as my lovely grandmother used to wear it and it reminds me so much of my grandparents' house when I was growing up. Their bathroom was pink and black marble with a huge bath and mirrors everywhere - very 70s glam Grin There was always a bottle of L'Aimant around, plus the 'dusting powder' - the smell is just so evocative. I can't believe it's taken me so long to get myself a bottle.

Now need to go back and catch up on the thread!

MotherOfDragonite · 12/10/2019 13:58

Sending love to you on your mum's anniversary, Maud. What a lovely way to remember her.

I'm feeling better and my sense of smell has returned! Went a bit crazy and have Diptyque Volutes in one elbow, Eau My Soul on the other, and Centrepiece on my wrists (just sniffing to see what they're like in this weather!)

I guess it's a quirk of my nose rather than the season, because I still get the strong anise notes from Centrepiece! Nobody else seems to smell them. Volutes is delicious in the autumn, I will wear it a lot now I've remembered it. And Eau My Soul is still beautiful but more pungent than I remember it; I think I prefer it in other weather actually.

SOTD was Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves on one wrist and Drive Them Wild on the other. Both really beautiful, competent fragrances. Not for me, though -- both are what I would think of as 'going out' scents, and I never go out! Not sure whether to persevere or just sell them.

DD1 is ill and has a fever now :-( I wish we were all better. I'm exhausted and obviously can't leave the house at all when either of them is ill, so I haven't been out for five days.

MotherOfDragonite · 13/10/2019 21:40

Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves is a cool fragrance. I feel like I ought to be going to some kind of music event in a warehouse. The slight smell of burning is very realistic and then it gives way to a mysterious, elusive dry sweetness. Lasts for aaaaages.

Drive Them Wild is for silk dresses and riding in vintage cars and laughing wildly. It's quite a sexy scent, not grown up exactly but a little... knowing. Gorgeous. Wears off me relatively quickly but is almost instantly wearable and appealing.

Hoooo · 13/10/2019 22:16

Hmmmm....
Burnt cedar rainbow doves sounds right up my street :)
Pm me if you want to sell it x
