MotherOfDragonite · 29/09/2019 15:22

Floofy, I'm so sorry to hear you've been so poorly. What a thoughtful gift from your DH. Obviously I love gifts generally but it's always particularly meaningful when you feel somebody has really noticed you and what you like/want and gone to some trouble.

Yes, am on borrowed crutches but haven't gone to A&E as I have done this before and was told that as I hadn't broken anything there was nothing they could do -- 90% sure it is the same this time so I will just get on with putting my foot up with ice and taking lots of ibuprofen...

Shana tova umetuka to all who are celebrating!

Hoooo · 29/09/2019 18:26

Oh you could have borrowed mine mother!
I'm off them now and walking gingerly...

MotherOfDragonite · 29/09/2019 18:51

I'm beginning to feel we need to add something health-related to the Venn diagram!

Hoooo · 29/09/2019 18:52

🤣

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/09/2019 20:51

Love that pin, mother!

SOTD MMM Barber-something-or-other. Horrible.

floofy so sorry to hear you have been so unwell. I hope you’re on the mend. Good work Mr Floofy, though.

DP came home on Friday saying he had a sore throat, and is now really, properly ill again. He is away abroad for work for a fortnight leaving next weekend, and needs to travel to get a visa tomorrow. I am quite worried about him, as he is usually a bit whiney with a cold, but this is beyond and he looks really, really unwell. I am also scared of catching it again. (Horrible me, I know.)

Gosh we need some immune boosting on this thread. Lots of fresh orange juice and chicken soup is prescribed by me.
Floofy I'm sorry to hear you've been ill, but the vintage nightwear sounds fabulous. Especially worn with the Chanel No 19.
Mother your dislocation sounds horrific .
Judy you need to ban your dp to another part of the house. DH came back from a overseas trip once with a horrific flu type bug and was really ill. All our pet birds died suddenly in an hour - pneumonia and then SARS hit. He reckoned he'd got it early. And we were one of the very few expats left as we thought it was more dangerous to get on a plane than stay in HK.

teta · 30/09/2019 10:26

I forgot to say I'm in Mallorca and bought some lovely natural EDC in the market yesterday. Lavender and cedar and limon, lemon grass and Romero. It lasts about 3 hours on my skin and longer on clothes. The second is meant to work as a mosquito repellent but I seem to be a Mosi. Magnet. still.

Sotd pp by the fireplace

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/09/2019 19:49

Happy Monday all! Autumn is definitely here...got soaked on the way home.

SOTD has been Serge Luten's Vitriol d'oeillet - wonderful spicy carnation and clove. Perfect for a grey, damp day.

Sorry to hear about everyone's ailments. It must be the 'change of seasons' as my grandmother would have said Grin. I'm gearing up for another freezing cold winter in our draughty, double-glazing-less, dodgy-boiler house . Still, I have enough perfume and a good Brexit-stash of chocolate to keep me going...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/09/2019 21:41

SOTD Chanel 19.

Bloody hell, teta, that sounds awful! DP is really poorly, didn’t manage to travel to get the visa, and hadn’t been out of bed (spare bed) or eaten or drank all day. He has had some soup and a bath, and seems a bit brighter now, but I felt quite scared when I got in from work and saw how unwell he looked. Even the cat didn’t venture in to see him - generally she loves it if someone is in bed ill so she can steal their body heat!

I am doing a LOT of handwashing, and have stripped that bed three times in three days now.

Best wishes to All Flowers.

Maud - could send you a little Black? Your draughty house with the dodgy boiler sounds like mine, except we've already eaten the Brexit chocolate stash Blush.

Calmasasleepycat · 30/09/2019 22:40

I contacted Les Senteurs last week to let them know a few of us may be visiting them for a sniffing session on Thursday 7th November, but so far I have had no response. I have a long overseas trip coming up so will contact them again when I return. The names I have are Maud, motherofdragonite, teta, MrsMoggs, cantbelievemyeyes, BR540 and Lotsofpots, but we can reconfirm nearer the time.

My SOTD was Guerlain Insolence. The violet really blossomed in the damp weather.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 01/10/2019 20:04

Oh nooooooo, I can't make the 7th Sad. I've got a dull-but-important meeting to go to that afternoon which I really can't get out of...unless you're planning to meet at 10am?

SOTD has been Anima Dulcis by Arquiste. Bitter cacao in the top, becoming spicy warming vanilla later. Rich and comforting, pretty good for a wet and filthy day. The downpour when I was heading home! It was, indeed, Biblical. There was a clap of thunder so loud and fierce today that everyone on the station platform jumped two feet in the air, and then started giggling and talking to each other. It's the only way London commuters will break their silence Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 01/10/2019 20:40

I am very excited for the 7th!

My SOTD was Serge Lutens Bois Vanillee (from the HN box) but I got a bit bored of it. It's really lovely but a little one-dimensional. So then spritzed myself with Lattafa Oud Mood again, which has become a perpetual favourite... and definitely best value for money at £12 for 100ml and incredible longevity...

I also tried on Hanbury again (Maria Candida Gentile) and was totally weirded out by how different it smells in this weather. I actually like it. I also found the other MCG scent I liked, Sideris, totally changed in the fall weather and smells overwhelmingly incense-y. I haven't noticed such dramatic changes with my other perfumes but these are like... split personality...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/10/2019 22:24

SOTD Jazz Club - it came yesterday! They included a sample, which was a proper spray, not like the stupid discovery set ones.

Still plague station here. Poor DP, I feel so sorry for him. My hands are practically bleeding from washing them so much. Please don’t let me catch it.

Am v envious of your meet up! maude I do like a good storm, although my cat gets so scared it’s quite upsetting.

MotherOfDragonite · 02/10/2019 09:45

Fingers crossed for you Judy! Tis the season for horrible lurgies, I'm afraid...

SOTD is the divine, deluxe, delicious.... Captured by Candlelight. I wish I'd bought a bottle! Does anyone know if 4160 Tuesdays will start doing any weekly deals again? I haven't bought anything from them since they stopped doing them as it used to lure me in so nicely!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/10/2019 17:59

Mother I am also in Captured by Candlelight!

SOTD has been EL Private Collection which is wonderful but rather...insistent. So when I got home I resprayed with something softer and less demanding - it was Candlelight or Creamy Vanilla Crumble and the early Christmas vibes won out Grin

I'm sure Sarah and the Tuesdays will start doing the deals again once they are settled into the new place, but I got the impression that perhaps it wasn't working out brilliantly profit-wise, so maybe not every week.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/10/2019 20:18

SOTD Mitsouko.

DP went to the GP, he got antibiotics for the cough he’s had for weeks, and told rest/fluids otherwise. I am so worried about him - going voluntarily to the doctor means he is REALLY ill.

Poor dh judy

Hoooo · 03/10/2019 08:06

Very difficult meeting ahead this morning....
Hmmm.
What frag to help me cope?

Hoooo · 03/10/2019 17:10

I've ordered 3 x 4160 tiesdays samples;
White queen
Over the choc shop
Black velvet cafe

cantbelievemyeyes · 03/10/2019 19:56

Sending get well thoughts to your DH judy

Hooo I love Over The Chocolate Shop, ran out of it now though. Black Velvet Cafe is one of DHs favourites, I love it on him but doesn't work so well on me.

Hoooo · 03/10/2019 20:31

Sote is the last of a sample from a lovely perfumista...LadeP ambre extreme.
Beautiful!

MotherOfDragonite · 03/10/2019 23:13

Hope your meeting went well, hooo. White Queen is definitely on my list to try, I'd love to know what you think of it!

SOTD is the beautiful Captured by Candlelight. I 'get' all of the nods to Christmas, but it doesn't feel specifically Christmassy to me but rather like the feeling of being inside a warm and beautiful house while it is cold outside.
