Maybe there is a theme? It’s very dress up,

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/08/2019 17:03

The bride and bridesmaids look like sister wives from the 70s - what was Ellie thinking??

I think Katy Perry looks nice, quite soft and understated for her, but Sophia Wellesley looks ridiculous - that straw boaterConfused

Sienna Miller probably looks the best of the guests but the bar wasn't exactly set very high!

Arrgghhh Cressie. I think I hate cork wedges more than espadrilles.
Like that she has matched her dress to her new ring though!

FogCutter · 31/08/2019 17:07

Bride and groom.

Eugenie is really nailing dressing for her shape at the moment. Looks fab.

Fergie wearing a black coat is just weird. It looks like a blue dress underneath. And that hat?!

Beatrice - bless her, she couldn't get dressed stylishly if her life depended on it (although I quite like her ahoes).

The bridesmaids from the pictures I have seen are just awful. That style and colour only works on super slim, very flat chested women. Which does not appear to apply in this case. Those poor women. Good.figures made to look ghastly.

Only saw snippets of dress on hello (refuse to click dm) and frankly, it looked awful too. Quite like James blunts wife's outfit even though it's odd.

Cressida's would be ok with different shoes and jacket?

God, I have never been so negative about so many people in one go before...

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/08/2019 17:11

Actually I take back what I said about sister wives. That's just the bridesmaids. Ellie looks like a member of Queen Elizabeth's court. Not HM but Elizabeth I!

I'm really sorry, but I've never seen so many awful outfits at one wedding - and sadly, that includes (IMO) the bridal party.

Just wow. Proof money can't buy taste.

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 31/08/2019 17:23

Is any designer owning up to having made the dress?

Sorry Ellie Goulding, I’m sure you’re nice and you’ve worked hard.

queenofarles · 31/08/2019 17:27

reminds me of these wedding dresses, I used to spend ages looking at these L. Ashely wedding catalogues.

That Laura Ashley dress would have looked better because it's a lighter material. It's the design plus the material, it's swamping her and making her look stooped. Worse without the veil because you just look at the weird neck ruff. Oh dear what a shame!

Northernlurker · 31/08/2019 17:36

It's bespoke Chloe according to DM. That will have cost a fair bit.

GellerYeller · 31/08/2019 17:36

@FaithHowellsYellowCoat twitter says Chloe...

itswinetime · 31/08/2019 17:38

I was hoping I missed something in the dress but nope it's awful!

frugalkitty · 31/08/2019 17:40

I liked Eugenie's dress. Fergie....nope. Bea....even more nope. Bride......not really, bit odd. Bridesmaids......also odd. Flowers were nice though.

queenofarles · 31/08/2019 17:41

witter says Chloe... that explains it!

Northernlurker · 31/08/2019 17:41

I don't think the fit is right on the arms and it's throwing the fit of the bodice? I hope she's changing at Castle Howard in to another dress!

mathanxiety · 31/08/2019 17:43

Eeek, I love that dress!

(The 'sister wives' look is roaring back, by all accounts www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/09/10/batsheva-hay-rethinks-the-traditions-of-feminine-dress )

I think she should have had her hair done in a more formal updo, less flyaway.

Does anyone know who the other woman in this photo is (not Katy Perry) - the woman in the gorgeous blue/white polka dot dress?

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 31/08/2019 17:48

I agree Northern The heavier fabric doesn't suit the high neck. Is it usual to remove the veil after church? I think it would've softened the dress although I'm not sure there's any redeeming it - sorry Ellie. I don't love the beadwork either. Against the white dress it looks discoloured and yellow.

I'm perplexed she tried this on and thought "yes, this is the one!"

DobbyTheHouseElk · 31/08/2019 17:48

I had a dress like that in the 70’s.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 31/08/2019 17:49

Crikey, I don't think I have ever seen such a collection of ill-fitting and quite frankly awful ultra-expensive outfits ☹️
For a second I thought the bridesmaids were wearing shrouds.
Clearly having money doesn't make good dress sense.

GellerYeller · 31/08/2019 17:49

We did the tourist thing in York yesterday, saw two trucks of flowers being unloaded behind the Minster and heard a choir, possibly rehearsing. These folks have a lovely souvenir today, hopefully taken with permission!:

Love Batsheva!
The thing is this type of style doesn’t suit Ellie, she suits cleaner simpler lines, think she would looked better in something like Stella’s dress MM wore.

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 31/08/2019 18:00

Thanks both.

FATEdestiny · 31/08/2019 18:03

Love Tracey Emin’s big boots. Her field of fucks is barren!

Hahaha! Grin

Must use the phrase "field of fucks is barren" more often.
