Isn't Charles known for never carrying cash?

OP posts:
lavenderandthyme · 28/08/2019 21:37

I think about that too!

MollyButton · 28/08/2019 21:48

Eating in a pub is a bit different to flying scheduled. Once you are in an airport you are kind of stuck even if spotted.
In a Pub if you start being hassled - you can make a quick exit (even smuggled out the back) - and I'm sure someone can settle the bill/it is on a tab/ or you can phone and settle later.

MollyButton · 28/08/2019 21:49

Oh and my claim to fame - I once held the Duke of Edinburgh's Credit Card!

UrsulaPandress · 28/08/2019 21:51

I’ve bought loads of stuff in Gecko.

AppleKatie · 28/08/2019 22:10

I thought it was the queen that didn’t carry cash?

No point when you have a lady in waiting or three to carry the credit card.

I love the Kate in wales wetsuit story. Rings true.

Elton John invited them on his private jet to his home (he's a family friend). Yes, that's bad for several reasons but that's why they were on it.

It is safer and more secure though and all the royals have taken these sorts of private flights. They could have taken a regular but they didn't. Going on, they may not do it or do it so often.

On state visits, the royals seem to be on much larger planes with no members of the public... just like many top politicians do.

thisenglishlife · 28/08/2019 22:14

Regular flight

queenofarles · 28/08/2019 22:31

Why is it safer to travel on Private jets? What makes a BA flight for example more dangerous?
Security at all airports are quite strict,

BA Maintenance is one of the best in the world.
Also private jets accidents are higher than commercial .

BigGreenOlives · 28/08/2019 23:09

@MollyButton If you travel as a celeb you don’t go in the normal areas, you enter the airport via a different gate & are usually the last to get on the plane.

MollyButton · 29/08/2019 00:17

@MollyButton If you travel as a celeb you don’t go in the normal areas, you enter the airport via a different gate & are usually the last to get on the plane.

But they are often spotted at airports - and not always when they want to be. Norwich to Aberdeen is probably far better than anything from Heathrow (always paparazzi hanging around). And a random Pub, should be fine, and offers a quick get away.

TipseyTorvey · 29/08/2019 05:14

So #Abolishthemonarchy is trending on UK twitter and I'm waiting for this to all be Megan's fault again somehow. I'm finding it very interesting reading some of the more measured comments that echo what a lot of these boards have said. I mean yes we love the dresses and history but do they really need that much money and all those houses? I doubt anything will come of it but one meme of Oliver Cromwells ghost rubbing his hands with glee did make me laugh.

BigGreenOlives · 29/08/2019 05:43

Mainly they’re spotted because they want to be, The First Wing. This is an example I found in about 30 seconds, I’m pretty sure Virgin has an equivalent service.

hopeishere · 29/08/2019 07:00

What sort of ongoing contact must Elton have with them to casually make the offer of his house?

AppleKatie · 29/08/2019 07:26

The first wing 🤦‍♀️😮

Written to make it sound amazing.

Shit pictures that make it look crap 😂

paradyning · 29/08/2019 07:57

Even the writing is a bit off
250 per cent greater in size

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 29/08/2019 08:40

I'm missing the clothes and jewellery! When do they royals go back to work?

Max seems to have the most amazing jewels. Love the stones in this necklace!!

beanaseireann · 29/08/2019 08:49

The First Wing, where the people who can make changes to the plebs experience of the hell that is airline travel today, will never experience it. Sad

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/08/2019 09:08

Given that less people use first than any other class, why do they need a check-in area that's 250% greater in size??

Scroll down for a film of PCP and Sofia with their kids at the car races

www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/hor-gabriel-prata-om-pappa-carl-philip-i-nya-filmen/

Queen Silvia in a pink silk dress at the Stockholm Water Prize thing www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/just-nu-kungaparet-pa-smokingmiddag-i-sensommarkvallen/

CPV:s literal water dress is a design by Maxjenny Forslund www.instagram.com/p/B1shl-xJTXc/ and she writes on her Instagram that the design is, literally, the Baltic sea near where she grew up.

The more I see CPV:s mustard dress the more I like it (on her).

Queen Siliva at an event she initiated "The Old People's Day" (obv not what it would be called in English but it's a literal translation and I can't be arsed to adjust it) - she is genuinely very involved and interested in dignified care for the elderly and I think it really shows in the photos www.svenskdam.se/kungligt/drottning-silvias-finaste-arbetsdag-ar-antligen-har/

She is wearing a national dress from the Stockholm island Ekerö where the event is held. She's a foreign blow-in but she has been adopted and can call that costume her own, as though she came from Ekerö iyswim. It's lovely and if I were her I'd never wear the horrible blue and yellow one.

Now. I've given you royal babies talking + casual wear, a party dress, information about literal design and a national costume + charity event! You can't say I haven't tried. ;)

queenofarles · 29/08/2019 09:19

LHR has many VIP services where you only go to the terminal when it’s time to board the plane.

The most exclusive is Windsor suite, not sure if you need to be holding a special passport showing you are a member of a royal family like ME for example, to use the Windsor suite. Maybe not since LHR is no longer funded by government for such facilities .

latedecember1963 · 29/08/2019 10:07

Thank you, Banivani.
The mustard coloured dress is growing on me too, having seen those extra pictures.
I like Sonia's pink dress. I can imagine Kate wearing a similar style as she gets older.

GrumbleBumble · 29/08/2019 10:24

@BertrandRussell How do they pay for a pub lunch- debit card or cash? If cash- where do they get it?

Probably use a debit card like us mere mortals but if they need cash I assume it comes out of a cash point - I'm sure a few threads back someone said they had seen William (or possibly Harry) getting out of a car to use a cash point.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 29/08/2019 10:38

Johnny Depp was in front of me at a cash point once. I didn’t see until he turned around when he had finished. Totally irrelevant other than the rich use cash.
