Previous thread. I think we'll be a bit short of royal outfits as they're all off on their holidays atm. But Kate's regatta is coming up next week, hence the thread title!

Same rules as always - keep it light, critique the clothes rather than the women, and don't believe anything printed in the Daily Mail Grin

I think Harry and Meghan are as thick as two small rocks tbh.

I don't like either of them. By God, they like themselves though.

I completely agree.

FlyMayBe · 18/08/2019 13:03

What has all this got to do with style and beauty?

Rhubarbisevil · 18/08/2019 13:33

Meghan is very stylish and she is certainly beautiful. I think we need to keep this thread nice and feel free to start an AIBU if you wish to discuss other matters.

StCharlotte · 18/08/2019 13:42

The clue is in the title(s): "Royal Style & Gossip".

(Although I tend to scroll past a lot of the more controversial conjecture myself as l don't need that negativity in my S&B life Grin)

This sums it up really.

I had no idea so many people knew them personally!!!!

I see there's a lot of stuff in the Sunday Times about Lord Mountbatten being homosexual and having a thing for young boys. If true, he wasn't the best advisor for PC. His advice to 'sow his wild oats' and then settle down with a much younger, naive virgin wasn't the most inspired.

SenecaFalls · 18/08/2019 14:28

I agree. It would suit me to take "gossip" out of the thread mainly because when anyone is asked to keep things friendly (as in not attacking Meghan in particular), the response is that the thread includes gossip as well as style.

I come to these threads in part to avoid all of the nastiness and unpleasantness in the world (and on MN for that matter).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2019 14:34

Harry & Meghan have a new Private Secretary
She is a former diplomat.

queenofarles · 18/08/2019 14:47

So in less than a month H managed to fly privately 3 times, Confused .

It would have been absolutely fine, if he wasn’t so outspoken about the environment, and how we should stop going to touristy places , like south of France and Ibiza...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2019 15:00

Hopefully the new PS will be able to reign him in a bit.
I think both H&S have been enjoying the A list crowd a bit too much.
They’re off to Africa in the autumn, so hopefully they will focus more on their Commonwealth role and do what the RF do best on tour.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2019 15:00

Rein not reign

TSSDNCOP · 18/08/2019 15:08

The turquoise is such a lovely colour on HM. She looks very happy. You wonder if the thought crosses her mind whether to just stay in Balmoral forever.

BertrandRussell · 18/08/2019 15:19

I do wish her maj wore pretty shoes. Obviously that is the style she finds comfortable- but if I were her I would have them made in every possible colour....

BertrandRussell · 18/08/2019 15:20

And probably in suede..

RaisinsRuinEverything · 18/08/2019 15:34

Thank you SenecaFalls. As a long-standing Lurker I would love this. Can we name the next thread Royal Style and Beauty? It’s on the Style and Beauty board, none of the other threads include gossip. Let’s just stick to:
Dresses
Tiaras!!
Coats
Suits
Jackets
Ball gowns
Shoes
Accessories
Hairstyles
Make up
Etc
I don’t like having to scroll past the gossip because I might miss something important!

TSSDNCOP · 18/08/2019 15:35

It’s reached a point though where you barely notice them. I bet they’re the most comfy shoes in the whole world.

TSSDNCOP · 18/08/2019 15:36

Sorry, I was talking about HM’s shoes not the gossip.

RaisinsRuinEverything · 18/08/2019 15:39

Yeah I like HMs shoes too. I want a pair in every colour. They are timeless and elegant, and probably comfy too.

BertrandRussell · 18/08/2019 15:41

“It’s reached a point though where you barely notice them. I bet they’re the most comfy shoes in the whole world.”
But imagine if today they’d still been as comfy but in turquoise suede......

beanaseireann · 18/08/2019 16:14

I dont mind the gossipBlush

TSSDNCOP · 18/08/2019 16:17

Too matchy Bert Grin

itswinetime · 18/08/2019 16:21

Personally I think the threads would/will tail off without out any of the gossip (especially in the quiet times) and other non style and beauty like the history bits and there have been some nasty comments on style over the threads but I will follow the majority 🤷🏻‍♀️

thisenglishlife · 18/08/2019 16:23

The unpleasant comments here are aimed towards one royal in particular, please start a separate thread elsewhere!

Just remembered this book, partly about Charles being a terrible guest (don't know how true it is though):

"In his book, Tom Bowers reveals that Charles sends his staff ahead a day early with a truck carrying furniture to replace the perfectly appropriate fittings in the billionaire homes' guest rooms. And not just the odd chest of drawers: the truck containes nothing less than Charles and Camilla’s complete bedrooms, including the Prince’s orthopaedic bed, along with his own linen.

His staff had also makes sure to pack a small radio, Charles’s own lavatory seat, rolls of Kleenex Premium Comfort lavatory paper, Laphroaig whisky and bottled water (for both bedrooms), plus two landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. He screamed at seeing an unsightly object on his food until Camilla assured him 'Darling, it is Cling Wrap". He grabbed an entire loaf of Italian bread from a formal dining table from a billionaire reaching for it claiming it was his bread, and only eats his own food — organic, of course. He has been known to cancel these elaborately staged weekend parties at a moment's notice because: "He had felt unable to abandon the beauty of his sunlit garden at Highgrove.'" The Queen had to intervene at one point as Charles was snubbing Carole Middleton at social events.

And he is never without his flask of specially mixed martinis poured by his aide. He hates traveling on commercial airlines and Camilla has developed the same spoiled lifestyle tastes."

Freefrops · 18/08/2019 16:50

Oh, I don’t know about that Tom Bowers chap. Charles was fine when he stayed with me.
