Previous thread. I think we'll be a bit short of royal outfits as they're all off on their holidays atm. But Kate's regatta is coming up next week, hence the thread title!

And Martha Louise of Norway and her conman shaman boyfriend have been doing a tour called the Princess and the Shaman. That doesn't sound dodgy at all, does it!

Thanks for the pics Queen. I LOVE Sarah Chatto's style. she is about the only royal I look for at every royal wedding.

I dont get that a just turned 4 year old sticking their tongue out is either unusual or rude. My 4 year old wouldn't do it, but they probably would pick their nose and eat it, hide, hit their sibling or many other embarrassing things. I would hate to have my child's behaviour or my parenting scrutinised tbh

Agree wrt Lady Sarah Chatto. She has style.

Looks as if Charlotte was a little overwhelmed at the event - hence the fist in mouth in some photos, as well as the protruding tongue. KM was probably hoping to help her relax by keeping up the sweetness and light with good humour. It's not fair to chastise a 4 yo in public in front of cameras that are there for your parents, or wouldn't be there taking pics of you if it wasn't for your parents, whom you didn't choose.

Children pick up all sorts of new tricks in school and 4-6 is a stage I personally wouldn't want to go through again. They copy behaviour and speech without understanding nuances or how any of it could hurt or dismay people and they don't always grasp that you can do and say things in private that you can't in public.

I would only be concerned about a tongue-sticker-outer if he or she were still doing it at 7 or 8 in situations where they were nervous or as a way to communicate hostility.

Charlotte didn't seem in the least overwhelmed by the press. She held back more than once when Carole was trying to lead her down the stairs. Its pretty obvious Kate asked her if she wanted to wave and her response was to stick out her tongue.

Why are people jumping in saying she possibly spotted Fergie in the crowd and all such rubbish?

Kate seemed to think it was hilarious. Most people might smile but Kate literally erupted into laughter.

There is a photo of Harry doing the same thing out a car window.

I have little doubt the press are held in very little regard which is understandable but also the RF need the press to keep them and their causes in the public eye whether they like it or not.

A 4 year old stuck her tongue out & her mother laughed - nothing wrong with that. Maybe Kate laughed out of embarrassment, maybe because she thought it was funny. Who knows. I do know I don’t like a 4 year old being castigated for doing something that some 4 year olds do!

Beginning about 25 seconds in you can see a brief segment with the commentary 'Charlotte made plenty of other funny faces too'.

My thought wasn't 'funny faces' but 'uncomfortable'.

Well it looked to me from Kate's reaction that the royal tongue was poked out at someone specific and well known to them, and that Kate's laughter was part of a direct exchange with that person. It's just unfortunate it was captured by the camera. I think the royal family will survive this one.

Another fan of Sarah Chatto's style here. Those little fitted cardis and full skirts always look great on her - she knows this, and sticks with it.

Re: the tongue sticking out. I’m not keen on anyone doing it, so I’m not going to single out Charlotte. But when Harry famously did it as a child; he was responding to photographers who were egging him on. If this happened in Charlotte’s case; then that is despicable. She is Nora charming and well mannered little girl in public, so it’s a shame to make a big deal of it.

The Sussexes put out an Instagram post from Princess Diana. I’m just wondering why? It just seemed a bit random. I thought they should at least take it in turns for a bit of attention, and the regatta day was all about the Cambridges.

That was yesterday wasn't it? The regatta was Thursday. And if anything has stolen attention from it's purpose it's Charlotte's tongue!

Hard in posting to get the right emphasis across - yes to me it's an odd thing to do ,it doesn't happen in my family . Of course I'm not saying that I've never heard of it or seen others doing it .

Back in 2015, next to Rania; they look so similar but Rania looked so stylish, but wasn’t messing with her face!

Beatrice & Eugenie seem really close. A lot of those selfies are just like "normal" sisters, which I think is really nice. Whatever you say about Andrew & Fergie, they did a sterling job with their daughters.
