What watch could be described as 'classy' please?

I'd like to treat myself to a grown up watch and be a bit more stylish. It's to wear to work (full time office job). I can't find anything I'd describe as 'classy'. Please can anyone offer me some inspiration?

Do you have a budget?

moonpiggle · 23/07/2019 12:51

Daniel Wellington do some simple classy watches. I love mine.

BusyEvenForBee · 23/07/2019 12:54

I love my Omega Constellation watch for every day in the office. Also have Ronde Solo de Cartier watch, which I wear quite often. In regards to accessories I prefer quality to quantity. On lesser budget Storm has some nice watches:

Depends on budget, really. And also on what you wear, I guess.

Look at Citizen. They do lots of good watches that aren’t too expensive. Their eco drive watches are brilliant, don’t need batteries as they are solar powered.

My favourite watch for day-to-day wear is from Skagen. It wasn’t expensive (I bought it in the sale for about £70 I think] it looks more expensive than it was and is elegant and understated. Mine is rose gold with a dark grey face and a grey leather strap.

Simonfromharlow · 23/07/2019 13:09

I have a Rolex date just which gets a lot of compliments.

Standandwait · 23/07/2019 13:19

I second Skagen and Citizen. Look for a simple watch face and not too many gadgety add-ons or colours.

bebeboeuf · 23/07/2019 13:36

I have a couple of classic Tag’s but would love a Cartier tank for some class or an omega.

Cheaper watches I have which still look smart but don’t have the longevity are - Skagen, Daniel Wellington and Henry

leckford · 23/07/2019 13:44

Cartier tank

dontcallmelen · 23/07/2019 13:50

Yy budget, I have a 1971 Ebel, which is very understated & extremely comfortable, I too also lust after a Cartier tank.

Luckingfovely · 23/07/2019 13:57

Without a budget it's impossible to say.

Imo- Citizen, Skagen, and Storm could never be described as classy. They are high street at best.

At top end you've obviously got Hermes, Rolex, Cartier, Omega, etc.

If you're looking for lower prices then those but more aspirational/exclusive, then the following are all worth looking at:

Tissot
Longines

(Those two in particular for ladies watches)

Georg Jensen
Hugo Boss
Christopher Ward
Junghans
Bamford
Rado

And if you looks carefully, you can often get a Tag Heuer under £1000.00.

Agree with skagen, lovely minimal watches

I would like one of these, a friend has a Rebecca and it’s very elegant

Cartier tank

MorrisZapp · 23/07/2019 14:09

Don't buy a Skagen with a curved glass face. If it breaks, which it will, its more expensive to replace than the watch was to begin with.

I love my Tag. Had it 18 years, worn most days, and it looks as classy today as it did when it was new.

beguilingeyes · 23/07/2019 14:12

Fossil. They look expensive but they're not. £100 ish.

I have a Tissot which I love.

museumum · 23/07/2019 14:13

Mine is a silver Mondaine. It’s a modern classic, no bling.

Yaflamingalah · 23/07/2019 14:21

I have a Longines Dolce Vita. Metal strap with an unusual midnight blue face. Very elegant and timeless. I've had it for 18 years.

growlingbear · 23/07/2019 14:29

imo a gold and silver metal strap and a discreet face with Roman numerals is the classiest design. No bling. You can get this design by Citizen for £100 or buy similar from designers for £££, but it's the overall look, understated and goes with all outfit colours, that makes it classy.

Ninkaninus · 23/07/2019 14:30

For my 45th I might treat myself to a Georg Jensen ‘Vivianna’. There’s a lovely one on sale at the moment.

Wavyheaded · 23/07/2019 14:41

I second/third Daniel Wellington/Fossil. 'Classy' is not always about how 'expensive' something is, but about the design – something simple and understated, no garish colours or patterns, and no swarovski crystals etc.

Personally I love a minimalistic slim, round face with a tan or black leather strap.

LoafOfSellotape · 23/07/2019 14:44

Completely agree

Paddingtonthebear · 23/07/2019 14:50

Mine is an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra with diamond markers. It’s subtle and classy.

Helpel · 23/07/2019 14:53

Look at Cluse watches. I think they are mostly understated and therefore look classy.

AngeloMysterioso · 23/07/2019 14:54

“Classy” and “high street” are not mutually exclusive.

Ninkaninus · 23/07/2019 14:55

Class of design has nothing to do with price.

Only a person who has no class would believe that to be the case (not that I’d be so unclassy as to actually say that).
