What watch could be described as 'classy' please?

I'd like to treat myself to a grown up watch and be a bit more stylish. It's to wear to work (full time office job). I can't find anything I'd describe as 'classy'. Please can anyone offer me some inspiration?

If money was no object, I'd buy this one www.chanel.com/en_GB/watches-jewellery/watches/p/mademoiselle-prive/H3097

I am pretty baffled by the number of posters suggesting Cartier watches... they are super expensive!
Having said that, without a budget and some idea of the style what the op is after, it's quite tough to make suggestions.
I like a watch that I never take off. I have had Tag Heuer and Breitling and neither has aged despite the fact I have worn them both 24/7 in shower/pool/sea.

Fiona Bruce always wears her white Chanel J12, and she is pretty classy.

I have a men's gold citizen watch with a black face. get lots of compliments on it.

EgremontRusset · 23/07/2019 22:03

I have a very plain stainless steel quartz watch with a mother of pearl face as its only bling. DH has a stainless steel automatic watch with a little window through to a segment of the movement. Both were a couple of hundred pounds. To me they’re classy in the sense of going with anything, not standing out or being ostentatious.

I know someone who bought an Audemars Piguet Millenary. In beige. You can see the mechanism - weird shape and very ostentatious. It’s beyond hideous and cost around 25K. Money doesn’t equal class.

I like the J12 but I think, given the price, that they are a bit of a "now" thing. Not sure how cool they'll look in 10 years.
Personally I quite like a Tag Heuer Monaco. I have just found out they do a ladies one. BUT it's a leather strap so not the type you keep on forever on your wrist.

BlackSwan · 23/07/2019 22:08

J12 is cool but not classy. If you want to wear a sporty watch buy a sporty brand. J12 is for people who don’t get the Chanel aesthetic but want the brand cache

GreengreenSofa · 23/07/2019 22:09

MorrisZapp which tag do you have?

pinkcardi · 23/07/2019 22:13

Cartier Tank

To the posters with Tag Heuer's...

Which model would you recommend please? I have a significant birthday coming up and my family want to pull together for a gift.

I like the look of the basic one I think it's called aqua racer. Which model would look most polished / be most classy for everyday use?

OhTheRoses · 24/07/2019 06:42

I have a stainless steel,, small Maurice Lacroix watch with roman numerals and a white face. Had it since 2001, has never gone wrong and gets lots of compliments. It is v v discreet and I wouldn't swap it.

bebeboeuf · 24/07/2019 08:48

@80percent - My oldest Tag is a Tag Link from 2001. I love the bracelet as its quite distinctive.

My most recent Tag is a Tag Formula 1

i bought the Forumla 1 from Watchmaster and was in perfect condition but cheaper than on the highstreet.

Sarahlou63 · 24/07/2019 08:55

I have one of these - wore it for 20 years and loved it. Sadly now needs a major service which I can't justify (no longer wear a watch).

bebeboeuf · 24/07/2019 09:05

@saralou63 that is stunning. So simple and beautiful

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2019 09:14

I like the Georg Jensen Concave range, and Calvin Klein.

I think Oxbridge watches are classy, but again it depends on your budget. www.oxbridgewatches.com/

ToEllewithIt · 24/07/2019 11:18

Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso - has a manual mechanism, top class watchmaking and understated.

Also buy pre-owned from a reputable dealer, you'll save a fortune if you're not bothered by buying second hand (pardon the pun)

SushiTime · 24/07/2019 11:38

I'm hinting for a Cartier tank for my 30th. If I don't get one I'll probably cry.

Vesperia · 24/07/2019 11:39

Another fan of Fossill - love mine

Ozziewozzie · 24/07/2019 11:39

Ladies Tissot watch. I have one, although daughter pinched it. Swiss and superb quality

Stumpedasatree · 24/07/2019 11:45

I have a Tissot and adore it.
