I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

Interesting article with PH and Jane Goodall.

I wonder if he regrets the 2 kids comment, as i suspect it will be used as more fuel for the rift between him and PW.

They talk about wanting everyone to have a lighter ecological footprint. He must be aware his footprint must be amongst the larger in the world, no matter how many eco boilers they install. I know some degree of hypocrisy is inevitable- same applies to me when i sign a greenpeace petition but still drive a car, but it does make them a bit of a target.

AdaColeman · 30/07/2019 19:04

Well you've got to smile at someone who once introduced a high flying colleague as "Our little Paki friend", now lecturing the rest of us about bias!

Labrodite · 30/07/2019 19:10

Oh wow - Meghan is releasing a workwear collection with M&S, John Lewis, Jigsaw and her friend Misha Nonoo to benefit the Smart Works charity!

I just think it's a bit of a joke when the RF lecture us on saving the planet. They have private jets, multiple homes, huge energy bills and clothing budgets , produce tons of waste. They have multiple range rovers etc etc. Really, having two children is not going to make much of a difference when all of that is taken into account.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 30/07/2019 19:29

It's easy to talk about limiting family size when all your children are likely to survive infancy. Harry maybe needs to have a chat with himself about unconscious bias. His is a very First World perspective.

ElspethFlashman · 30/07/2019 19:35

The "unconscious privilege" is unreal.

I'm sick of the pair of them.

AdaColeman · 30/07/2019 19:37

Yes, quite Myimaginary, or when you won't need to look to your children to support you in your old age.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 30/07/2019 19:39

Exactly, @AdaColeman.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/07/2019 20:20

Unconscious racism and privilege is a thing though. But Harry isn't saying anything that POC haven't been saying for years, so he shouldn't be given credit for coining the term.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/07/2019 20:28

What Jane Goodall has to say is interesting anyway, and it looks like the two kids comments was just an off the cuff response to something she said. I doubt it was a dig at his brother!

Labrodite · 30/07/2019 20:32

There’s nothing wrong with what he’s saying but I can understand that people don’t appreciate it coming from Harry because of his position and past behaviour.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/07/2019 20:37

I don’t think they seem able to get it right at the moment. I don’t remember W&C getting it so wrong, but maybe they did.

JaimeBronde · 30/07/2019 20:38

@QueenOfTheAndals I think there's 9 in the Fast & Furious franchise.

That's a beautiful photo of Zara & her Granny! It's the kind of photo that when seen out of context, you think oh that lady looks a bit like the Queen, not realising it is the Queen!

Hmm not sure how I feel about the clothing collab for SmartWorks.
On one hand I think it sounds like an excellent idea & gets Smart Works known across the UK.
In my previous job I signposted/referred women to Smart Works when it was just London based. I thought back then it would be brilliant if the idea could be rolled nationwide.
But what worries me is the transparency e.g how much profit are the stores & Misha N getting? I don't expect them to do it for nothing but it would be awful if it transpired they were making megabucks on the back of this scheme. And you see how that could backfire on Meghan.
In some ways I think it would be better for Meghan not to involve another friend.

Lastly what is it with Piers Morgan's vitriol towards Meghan? Is he secretly in love with her or something? There's a fine line between love & hate.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/07/2019 20:53

@JaimeBronde I think they may have exchanged a few messages, maybe had dinner once, in the days when she was on Suits and, like most actors, wanting a higher profile for herself.

She stopped contact with him once she started seeing Harry, most likely because of being warned by the Palace. I can't imagine they would've relished having him party to everything that was going on!

Since then he's acted like a stalker and is obsessed with tearing her to pieces whenever he can. He's an embarrassment.

@DobbyTheHouseElk I don't think they did anything wrong but I don't think the tabloids were out to get them either. Meghan could jump into a river to save someone's puppy and the Mail would still accuse her of doing for attention!

I think the way the M&S thing will work is that for each item that's bought from the collection, they'll donate the same item to Smartworks.

Clankboing · 30/07/2019 20:56

Piers Morgan is saying too much now and it IS getting weird. In fact my parents in law - the most anti royal people I know - even criticised his words. It's like a constant running commentary on Meghan, almost stalker like, and makes everyone realise that he must surely be off his trolley.

Paradyning · 30/07/2019 21:00

Teeny tiny beautiful silk boots of Queen V here. So interesting.

justasking111 · 30/07/2019 21:05

Piers Morgans articles are also being modded heavily anything supporting MM is being withheld, even though the articles say these comments are not moderated. I checked three articles recently no comments go through outside office hours. The DM are being disingenuous here.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/07/2019 21:12

Hadley Freeman tweeted this screenshot of Mail Online's home page earlier. They've reached peak Meghan obsession. I really can't believe people still fall for their bile. I know they were behind that "doors to manual" and Waity Katie crap but I don't think I ever saw it as bad as this. Even when Kate guest edited HuffPo it never warranted several articles tearing her to pieces!

I (for my sins) read an interview with Amanda Holden recently where she commented that she and Piers compete to get the most complaints. I can see that being true - and Morgan being paid on a clicks-based system so that the more articles and comments he gets, the more he makes. He's a tiresome bore, but sadly it gets the racists going on the Mail. I really should stop clicking on it.

I quite like the M&S/JL etc. collaboration. It's neat, and Meghan won't get kick-backs so it seems a good partnership. At least M&S does look after provenance and have sustainability goals that tie in with wider aims.

SenecaFalls · 30/07/2019 21:21

but I can understand that people don’t appreciate it coming from Harry because of his position and past behaviour.

So people are not allowed to change and evolve? Perhaps he has had his eyes opened. I suspect that his encounter with the racism directed toward his wife may have had that effect.

Clankboing · 30/07/2019 21:24

It was seeing all of those articles all at once like that that made me decide to never follow a DM link again. I really think that this is too much against one person. Can anything be done to stop it? (The ridiculous thing is that at the moment something as big as Brexit is about to happen, yet the most prominent stories in the DM are all relating to Meghan).

escapade1234 · 30/07/2019 21:25

The Duke and Duchess of Woke Hmm

Finnished · 30/07/2019 21:31

Dont know if this was already here, but here's Madeleine's slightly more casual summer style (it's not that warm in Swedish summer all the time!) - she's so gorgeous!

Wetdogloveshubert · 30/07/2019 21:37

Ooh I love her shoes, @finnished!
