I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

And an interesting piece on the effect Meghan has had on Outland jeans and the women working there.

I quite like a lot of Kate's literal dressing, though I prefer to think of it as diplomatic dressing.

Ninkaninus · 27/07/2019 20:00

Yes I don’t think it’s a bad thing in and of itself, it makes sense and is complimentary to the country/region/event/whatever, but it could be a done a bit more adventurously. But again that’s just for my benefit - at the end of the day I’m quite happy for her to wear whatever she wants to wear. She’s always beautifully turned out.

MotherofPearl · 27/07/2019 20:51

I love Kate's literal dressing, and like @Spudlet, I love a Breton, so I'm very happy for her to run with this look come 9 August. Meanwhile we really don't have much fashion to look at at the moment...

Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2019 21:32

W-o-w what a really nasty little article on Kate - talk about vicious. As if ALL of them haven’t had Botox and fillers - and if they don’t, they’re slammed for looking tired even though they’re raising kids. But then slammed if they use nannies. When are female royals allowed to age? Seriously, when is the cut off point? I feel bad as we do comment on the Botox users but what else are they to do? And honestly what low brow shite - disappointed to see this published, same as all the usual DM rubbish people seem to be hooked on. Depressing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 21:38

I didn't think the article was nasty, it was just reporting what happened. When done right, Botox can look amazing and very natural. Saying someone had Botox isn't casting aspersions on them but a royal can't be seen to endorse a particular service, hence the KP comment. But they might've been better off staying silent - the only reason we've heard about it is because they commented!

Spudlet · 27/07/2019 21:40

I actually remember seeing a DM article around Christmas when George was still tiny, with huge pictures of Kate doing her Christmas shopping (so pap pics), with lots of crap about how ‘tired’ she looked. Or it might have been when Charlotte was little - it was when she had a small baby still anyway so hardly surprising if she looked a little lacking in sleep, but it was made into this big deal. No wonder anyone under that level of scrutiny might choose a bit of cosmetic assistance! It’s vile. I don’t mind the pics of them on official engagements but intrusive pap pics are horrible.

AppleKatie · 27/07/2019 21:50

I feel like it’s knee jerk response from KP because Kate (or William!?) was hugely pissed off by the article. I don’t think they could have said that she categorically hasn’t had it if she has though?

I don’t particularly think it’s a moral issue either but people do seem too.

I like the article of Meghan’s jeans that’s a great effect to have.

Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2019 21:56

They bloody love it, of course it’s vicious - so what’s the reason for running this report?

Because trash sells, people lap it up. This is why I’m against this thread using the DM as a source.

Spudlet yup saw the same headlines. Pretty vile.

I know it’s silly but I know someone who last year got a facelift because of teasing she had at work along the same lines. It slowly chipped away at her self esteem and she’s early 40s. And post facelift, no her self esteem hasn’t improved because the comments made a permanent impact.

Those comments are uglier than any lines and crows feet.

It’s bullying and tbh yes I’m disappointed to see us repeating the same chat here.

:(

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 21:59

It wasn't an article, it was an IG post by some posh medi-spa, which has since been deleted. I doubt Kate went there and even if she did, she certainly won't be anymore!

OP posts:
Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/07/2019 22:01

It seemed to me the person commenting in the article was trying to hint that they might have provided services to Kate. That was plainly untrue and needed shutting down.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 22:09

Town & Country is hardly in the same league as the Mail or Sun @Notmyrealname855! They're probably reporting on it because of how unusual it is for KP to comment on something like this. The ones to blame are the medi-spa who made the now-deleted post implying Kate was their client.

OP posts:
Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2019 22:36

Lol it’s total tabloid trash fodder “news”, so glad it’s been reported. Town & Country are in good company with E! and The Sun - from a google search, they have also covered this in the same detail. Pulitzer stuff indeed! Grin

Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2019 22:38

In all honesty a) I’m not surprised the palace knocked back any business trying to cash in and b) seriously when are royal women allowed to age? What would our reaction be to Charlene and Leti going natural? The scrutiny is ridiculous and especially mean over something you can’t change... wonder if we’ll ever live in a world where aging isn’t taboo (even Dove use the most glossy and acceptable versions of it)

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 22:43

Okay...

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 23:02

Anyway, moving on, more photos from Louis Ducruet's wedding. His wife is very striking and reminds me a little of Gemma Chan. Am on the fence re her dress. Stephanie looks better than she has in years, Charlotte looks good albeit quite leggy for a wedding, Beatrice is as elegant as ever from what we can see, Tatiana has gone all
Maxima with her hat, but where's Charlene?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 23:04

Stephanie has one daughter behind her and one to the far right of the picture but I'm not sure which one is her daughter with Louis' father. I think that's him in the front, with his hands of the shoulder of a little girl who I assume is a daughter from a later relationship.

OP posts:
Labrodite · 27/07/2019 23:10

Kensington Palace put out a statement because a surgeon was implying he’d given Kate Botox - I don’t blame the papers for reporting on a story the palace itself has commented on. I thought the Town and Country article was fairly neutral. Seemed to be reporting the story without commenting on it.

Labrodite · 27/07/2019 23:17

Thanks for the wedding pics. I like the shape of the dress and I love the off the shoulder neckline! Although there’s something I don’t really love about it in the close up pics - I think the bodice needed a stiffer material maybe? The belt makes the bodice look a bit scrunched up in some pictures.

Did anyone just catch 'spending secrets of the royals' on channel 5? Putting all the figures together it is staggering what they spend. Would be quite happy if Charles slimmed down the monarchy and houses tbh

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/07/2019 01:35

Re the Monaco wedding: Camille Gottlieb; Louis Ducruet’s younger sister is the bridesmaid standing behind the bride’s father.
Pauline, his other sister is standing next to their Dad. She also designed the wedding dress.
The civil ceremony outfit looks like it was actually a dress with deep inverted pleats, looking at the sketch. ( I think it suits the bride much better than the religious dress; which unfortunately was not very flattering to her bosom area)

ajandjjmum · 28/07/2019 03:27

I saw part of it pasta. It does irritate me that the security cost is shown as being part of 'their' costs - it's really not. It's because there are too many idiots in this world that might take a pot shot.

Interesting that the 'brand' guy thought they brought in up to £2 billion for the UK each year - seems quite a good return of £300 million! Grin

GlamGiraffe · 28/07/2019 04:21

@ElspethFlashman
Few pages back here ( been put of action)
Are you sure there's a safety pin? I think it just looks like a crease. If ok need to tighten a wrap top like that I always pin the losest side in at the seam where it joins the body and tighten invisibly from there. Definitely sits better on me . Have tou tried bra tap for sticking the odd layer together? O.5cm bits. better than pins on many of my fabrics. I nearly had a mini melt down when John Lewis stopped selling it temporarily!!

GlamGiraffe · 28/07/2019 04:24

Heres a question to ponder ladies.

As yourself, if you could be queen or princess of anywhere where would it be?

GlamGiraffe · 28/07/2019 04:34

I was also thinking during my long catch up about PG knowing the deal or not which made me wonder..
Small kids at nursery and reception maybe year 1 and 2 play princess and princes all the time. Did/do george and Charlotte? Do they know they are? Do the other children know they are? Or does Charlotte want clip on pink plaits from Claire's accessories and a plastic princess crown and vile pink lipstick like the average 4 and 5 year old. And does George want a crown and swrd to be the knight king?
My 2 year old currently has a plastic crown she wouldn't surrender so I ended up buying, it matches mine😉
