I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

@CurlyWurlyTwirly the Wueen attends Crathie Church near Braemar (where Anne married), but when they’re up here they lead a very low key life, local people are very protective of the royals and their privacy

@Paradyning I remember Stephanie and Rob Lowe in the 80s! It was around the time she tried to launch a career as a pop star.

Naomi C was at Albert's wedding so things couldn't have ended. At between them. Speaking of weddings, i think Stephanie's son is marrying today or tomorrow.

Ah its today, here's a photo from the civil ceremony. It's not a dress - it's a culotte jumpsuit!

Love the bridal outfit - thanks for posting Queen

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 15:39

IIRC Charlene also wore trousers or a jumpsuit for her civil ceremony.

Get your bretons ready, for 9th August when Kate will be skippering a yacht in the re-instituted Kings Cup at Cowes. There will be plenty of navy blue and white, and maybe a beribboned boater or two! Wink

Ninkaninus · 27/07/2019 16:01

Victoria’s wedding tiara is a family heirloom which I think was originally a gift from Napoleon to Empress Josephine (although I could be wrong on that)? Her mother wore it too for her wedding to the King but I’m not sure if any other Swedish royal brides have worn it on their wedding days. I wasn’t all that keen on it when I first saw it at the time but it’s really grown on me and I actually think it suited Victoria very well and also went nicely with her simple and elegant wedding dress. A bit of historical bling to sharpen it up a little, but a very romantic and opulent look to it, and so different from even the most spectacular typical tiara.

Ninkaninus · 27/07/2019 16:02

I’m willing Kate to at least do very wide leg cropped trousers and maybe some coral accessories rather than red? That would be great!

AliasGrape · 27/07/2019 16:29

After being the one to post about CPV’s cameo tiara and say I didn’t like it I’ve had a total change of heart and come round to it after googling and finding out about the history. It wouldn’t be my choice but then I’m not the future queen of Sweden! It makes sense in that it looks like a crown and bridal crowns are traditional in Sweden too, and complements the very simple and elegant wedding dress. I love pearls too.

It’s just so different from the diamond bling you expect.

Spudlet · 27/07/2019 16:59

Kate has a breton for every occasion, I think - possibly almost as many as me Wink Coral accessories would be good though - or how about some yellow?

Love the bridal jumpsuit, v elegant and minimal. I like the relative lack of bling too, it’s very refreshing.

Rhubarbisevil · 27/07/2019 17:17

Breton jumper, white jeans. Red deck shoes.

Ninkaninus · 27/07/2019 17:33

I’d be happy with Breton top, v. wide legged cropped trousers, white chunky trainers in a trendy style, coral or yellow bag!

Ninkaninus · 27/07/2019 17:34

(Trousers in navy)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/07/2019 17:59

No, wide legged cropped would be awful,on Kate. Her legs are not long enough in proportion to her body. Long flared pants with a heel
I loved that purple pussy cat bow blouse and black flared pants she wore in the spring.

Spudlet · 27/07/2019 18:07

I liked those linen culottes she wore at Chelsea - something that shape would be nice. Bet you anything they’ll have the sailor-style buttons down the front!

StCharlotte · 27/07/2019 18:24

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't (or didn't) Swedish brides traditionally wear a wedding crown - usually they would borrow a communal one kept by the local church? Or am I about 200 years out of date? Grin

AdaColeman · 27/07/2019 18:26

Oh yes, Kate's bound to have a blouse with a sailor collar and some piping! Wink

StCharlotte · 27/07/2019 18:28

It seems I wasn't making it up.

Do you think so? I think she could get away with it if her top was the right length and style. Really I’d just like her to wear anything but extremely literal and/or a dress too similar to Wimbledon styles. Nothing wrong with that, but I just like it when she does something new and interesting.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 19:02

@Spudlet she has a pair of cropped navy culottes with buttons down the sides. I bet she'll wear them again for the regatta! Though if they're actually taking part in it then it'll be her trusty skinny jeans, Breton and possibly a gilet.

Which of King CG's sisters is the permatanned one with the slightly scandalous past? Or am I confusing her with one of Wax's aunts?

@Spudlet Kate may have a Breton in every colour but does she have a leopard print one?

Ok so those crowns make you look a bit like a reindeer then! :)

I feel a bit bad about mocking Kate for being such a literal dresser as it’s all a bit mean girls, I mean there’s no problem leaning a bit to the Anne style of things :) as long as she’s comfy as wearing what she likes then I’m happy! And to be fair, I always fall back on the same few outfits really.

Posters of mumsnet, what would you have her wear? Post your suggestions! It can be as tricky as trying to think of what to dress the teenage royals in....how to be practical without being boring... I’d just be doing the Breton thing (and maybe throw in a tiara for god measure)

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/07/2019 19:29

Ooer, Kensington Palace have commented on Kate Botox rumours!
