I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

Queen i was reading an account about him flicking a lighted match at her during a social gathering. She told him to stop because it might set her dress alight. He replied he never liked the material anyway and she was utterly furious ..... about his use of the word material ! HmmConfused

The pair of them were seriously odd.

pinkladyapples · 23/07/2019 15:04

Not a fan of her shoes though the colour looks cheap.

pinkladyapples · 23/07/2019 15:10

Just reading Ma'am Darling. Margaret sounds horrendous, as expected. But Cecil Beaton though! What an utter bitch he was!

JaimeBronde · 23/07/2019 17:16

I'm going to hunt down a copy of Ma'am Darling to read after I've finished my plethora of other books.
I'm still reading 'Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone' as recommended by @CurlyWurlyTwirly or/and @SenecaFalls
And I'm also reading 'Queen Victoria's Granddaughters' which was recommended by a few posters on here.

Why on Earth are they wearing blazers/jackets in this weather?
I beginning to think the RF should have a business t shirt to wear in hot weather Grin

Blazers and ties in this [passes out in sympathy]. Ridiculous!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/07/2019 18:45

Poor James, bet he was dying to get back into shorts and t-shirt! Though I think that's the first photo I've seen of him smiling.

Goodness how grown up does Louise look? And how much like DOE Edward is?

hopeishere · 23/07/2019 19:03

Louise and Sophie look lovely. Viscount Severn is a very handsome but agree he should have dropped the blazer.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/07/2019 19:10

I actually think Edward looks more like HM than any of her other children @Stravapalava!

That's so interesting Queen - I always think Prince Andrew looks exactly like the Queen!

Nogravyforyou · 23/07/2019 19:53

Lovely to see Louise look slightly her age! Those tie front tops are very fashionable atm.

motheroftinydragons · 23/07/2019 19:56

How old is Lady Louise now? 14?

I do wonder why they dress her like that. Other girls her age are all over the you tubers with their make up vlogs (I'm not sure if I'm getting the terminology right because I am an ancient 35 year old) and seeing them walk to school around here they all have hair done, make up done - as is traditional for teenagers far too much of it, but still - etc etc.

I wonder why they don't let her (if she wants to of course) do something stylish with her hair and put some fashionable but appropriate clothes on at least.

I'm not trying to be mean to a young girl, I feel a bit sorry for her is all. She's very pretty. She just always looks like either like a woman my age or very little girly.

Wetdogloveshubert · 23/07/2019 20:04

Harry had an event with Jane Goodall today. Same old, same old sadly with the brown suede shoes, though I do like his grey jackets.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 23/07/2019 20:07

I think Andrew's resting face looks like HM, and Edward's smiling face. And yet they look quite unlike each other, to me anyway.

Wetdogloveshubert · 23/07/2019 20:07

@motheroftinydragons maybe that's how she likes to look? And how she's comfortable dressing? 14 is still reasonably young, and her peers may be different to a lot of teenagers you'd generally see in town or village centres.

itswinetime · 23/07/2019 20:08

Isn't she nearly 16? Or am I way off the mark? All British royal fashion is a bit old and dated in my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️! Eugenie posts some great throw backs to her teenage outfits on Instagram they are the same! So I think it's part tradition. She may well just not be that into fashion/make up not every teenager is. And even if she is maybe keeping a work look vs her everyday look helps her avoid some attention when out at about.

motheroftinydragons · 23/07/2019 20:17

@Wetdogloveshubert If that's how she likes to look then she absolutely should look like that! Just like the older Royals, they should be happy and comfortable with what they're wearing.

I just don't know many 14/15/16 year olds who would be happy to dress like she does, or have hair completely unstyled or no/bare minimum make up. But then I don't know any Royal teenagers so what do I know Grin

motheroftinydragons · 23/07/2019 20:18

Oh @itswinetime the 90s throwback pictures of the teenage York sisters were brilliant. Good on them for having a great sense of humour. All hail the 90s. The sisters are around my age so I have memories of similar, much less formal, monstrosities myself.

mikado1 · 23/07/2019 20:36

One of the papers showing George's pic reported that he now knows and they've explained it as it's a family business so youll have a job like GG, GD and DD lol. Sounds sensible.

I spent a fortune on impractical holiday clothes today but I do think this thread has helped me buy things that suit best and steer clear of other things. Lots of navies and whites a-là Meghan today. I'd better be super chic on hols!

AppleKatie · 23/07/2019 20:54

And even if she is maybe keeping a work look vs her everyday look helps her avoid some attention when out at about.

This is genius if it’s true!
I definitely wouldn’t recognise her with makeup and a more typically teenage outfit.

JaimeBronde · 23/07/2019 21:00

@mikado1 that's what I said earlier about the RF probably/possibly explaining to George that they are a business & that he'll have a job with them.

Wonder it it was the DM who wrote the article? Doesn't surprise me as they rip off everything from here.
