I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

Eh?
@Dobby are you friends with PW?

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 21/07/2019 08:16

I think you need to explain your connection to the other person in the car Dobby

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 21/07/2019 08:18

Sorry pressed send to soon

I’m well jealous you’ve got a close contact with a royal! Not that I was questioning your integrity btw!

Horsemad · 21/07/2019 08:54

PW was recognised when he had a meal at a restaurant local to me, even though it was a spur of the moment thing, and hadn't been pre-booked.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 09:02

I was replying to Queen when she said that we could pass James Severn in the street and not know.

My point was several people passed PW on the street that day and didn’t know. Do we really look at the people around us? We don’t expect to pass a member of the RF in the street.

I have several connections to the RF. Friends who went to Eton with PW. We sold a house in the 80’s to Andrew’s superior in the navy. He didn’t think much of PA.

Princess Margaret came to our home several times in the 1960’s, my father ran a business from home and she visited twice. Both times no advance warning was given.

I have other connections to with current members but I’m not really going to reveal here.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 09:16

It's a figure of speech @DobbyTheHouseElk, I didn't necessarily mean literally passing in the street.

And the fact that a story of visiting a cash machine once and not getting recognised is retold suggests that that is an unusual occurrence. If it was the kind of thing he did every other week it wouldn’t be retold surely?

In other news I went to the supermarket yesterday, bought fruit and cereal!

mikado1 · 21/07/2019 09:27

Crimpola Grin

Exactly my reaction.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 10:33

This is why I don’t post things like this, it gets ripped apart.

It was part of a bigger story, but the main reason for retelling it to you lot, was to say that they do have a way of not drawing attention if they want to.

It’s rather lost that now.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 10:34

Sorry Queen, didn’t mean to offend, yes I know it’s a figure of speech. I was trying and failing to add something amusing to the thread.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 10:35

🙄

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 11:01

I wasn't offended @DobbyTheHouseElk! It's hard sometimes to get true meanings across over the web.

Maybe I wouldn't notice William if I saw him in a shop or something. I'd probably notice Harry as he's more distinctive-looking with his hair and beard!

Am now trying to think of the royals I have seen in the flesh. HM and the DoE many years ago in Australia, Charles when his car drove past while I was at a bus stop in west London (the glamour!) and W&K getting into their car at Kings Cross station. I remember thinking it was a bit rude that they didn't even bother waving to the small crowd outside but a few days later it came out that she'd been hospitalised with HG so must've been feeling very rough that day!

Sorry if I offended you Dobby that wasn’t my intention. I was just discussing (or thought I was!).

Their everyday lives and the way navigate ‘normal’ stuff fascinates me and I’m curious about it not trying to have a go at you!

Horsemad · 21/07/2019 11:07

I've seen HM on a walkabout many years ago. PC & Diana in a car when they did a Royal Tour.
I saw Camilla last year, her car turned into Clarence House & I was stood on the roadside, got a fab view of her, she looked lovely.

My DH held a door open for PW (said he looked 'vaguely familiar'!! 😆).

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 11:14

There are of course those urban legends of old ladies bumping into HM in the lifts at Fortnums and saying "do you know, you look awfully like the Queen" Grin

Honeysuckleandroses · 21/07/2019 11:16

HM's chauffeured car passed my father's funeral car years ago. He would have liked that. I got a good look at her, but was a bit distracted.

EleanorReally · 21/07/2019 11:55

ridiculous to bring Diana into everything, a fashion icon? I doubt that with today's youth, by chance rather than design imo

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 12:34

I'm inclined to agree @EleanorReally. I think it's just the Mail trying to make a story out of nothing. They've found a few celebs in outfits similar to ones Diana once wore and that's about it!

George turns six tomorrow so there will be a few birthday photos released this evening or tomorrow. As they are currently on holidays, I guess they will be photos from months ago. Most probably taken in their own garden, possibly playing with their dog, wearing a shirt and shorts and navy canvas shoes ! Yawn!

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 13:48

He'll probably be in the same outfit Edward wore to meet Neil Armstrong!

Oh I love those family pictures! If not in the garden with the dog, what pic would you like? George dressed as a little king :) He looks so like Michael Middleton, quite cute to see as MM seems very very quiet so his doppelgänger as future king seems funny. Hoping for some pics with C&L...

FruitcakeAndCheese · 21/07/2019 14:36

I'd like one of him in the 'penny arcades' at Great Yarmouth wearing tracksuit bottoms and drinking a Slush.

Horsemad · 21/07/2019 15:08

Haha the images I now have of would be photos are funny! 😁

Crimpola · 21/07/2019 15:13

I'd like one of him in a unicorn inflatable in a pool in Tenerife.
