I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

Somewhere I read an interview with a woman who spent a weekend with Andrew and some mutual friends and said Andrew spent the whole time complaining that he is not close to Charles and does not even have his phone number. Said he had to get his security to call Charles' security in order to get in touch.

AppleKatie · 20/07/2019 22:44

Based on nothing more than speculation but that doesn’t surprise me at all Andrew and Charles don’t give the impression of friendliness. And Camilla snubbing the wedding spoke volumes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/07/2019 22:51

Andrew and Edward don't even give the impression of closeness but I guess they aren't really that close in age - 5 years maybe? So not a huge gap but not a small one either. I sometimes wonder if Edward was a "happy accident"!

I think from the little we see in documentaries ect it seems like Charles and Anne are genuinely close (or as close as it gets in royal circles) and he seems to have a good relationship with Zara (can't remember ever seeing him and peter interact but possibly him to). Andrew and Edward have always both seemed like odd men out in the family to me. In different ways I think they haven't fit into a stereotype maybe so they are both outsiders. I believe Sophie was the making of Edward so that has helped a lot with his public perception. But Andrew still comes across as a spoilt privileged brat (to me anyway). I think when Charles tajes the throne we will truly see the divide. I expect to still see Anne and her children when the want to be involved but I think Andrew and Edward and their families will be the new Kent's/Gloucesters they may still be doing 'royal' jobs but it won't be advertised as much or to the same level it is now. Of course I could be completely wrong.

justasking111 · 20/07/2019 23:16

Camilla has known the family for decades, she may have a very good reason not to get along with Andrew, reading about Epstein and the like being one reason.

itswinetime · 20/07/2019 23:19

I thought and I may be wrong it was Camilla and Fergie that didn't get on not Camilla and Andrew but that is all press speculation of course! You would think if the rumours are true there would be a lot more reason for her and Anne being a bit awkward but you never read about that!

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 20/07/2019 23:51

No one ever really knows what goes on behind closed doors, even with the royal family, who are so heavily scrutinised. People may speculate, but unless they spill the beans a la Diana, no one will ever know if they get on or not.

Flooopers · 21/07/2019 00:11

Andrew is a dick.

We all know that to be true.

JaimeBronde · 21/07/2019 01:31

Ah @frugalkitty I think it was me in my previous incarnation as TracyBeaker that suggested Hottie was in your airing cupboard.
Which does make my giggle when I go in my faux airing cupboard (combi boiler so no hot water tank now)

SenecaFalls · 21/07/2019 02:25

There was that video recently of Charles coming up behind Anne and playfully surprising her with what looked like a gentle grab or poke, and she reacts with delighted laughter. I don't know about close, but that little snippet does indicate affection.

GlamGiraffe · 21/07/2019 03:24

@QueenOfTheAndals re the sewin in brassieres. I have a fabulous dress.cant even begin to imagine it's cost niw( needs clean g but terrified of what will happen?)
It has a bra seen it.. but not a bra as we'd know it know. It's real hoist the squished and put them where they regardless of discomfort. The "bra thing" is made of rirrm unstretchable fabric takes just indecent inch wide. No room for bounce! My wedding dress had good control seen in...nothing comparable!!!

GlamGiraffe · 21/07/2019 03:29

Utterly unconvinced about do and suit theory of KM. those all have seas and the edges area little think.im skinny but can be tried and you see the seams I get can seamless (unsexy) things from intimissimi no edge stitching and no seams.v fine fabric to recommend. They don't show. It's the bras to allude something with v foot lining I suppose. Must who of magic bra trick. I'm fitted all the time but they do show the edges..she's maybe a waist to neck suit with boot boosters and no sleeves!!!

Andrew spent the whole time complaining that he is not close to Charles and does not even have his phone number
Shock
I can’t believe that.

Daisypie · 21/07/2019 06:18

Found it www.express.co.uk/news/uk/196382/Model-reveals-how-Prince-Andrew-charmed-her

The brunette claimed he told her: “I don’t even have my brother’s telephone number. I talk to my bodyguard, my bodyguard talks to his bodyguard and he talks to him. You’re so lucky, you have such freedom. My life is so regimented. Every single hour of every single day is mapped out.”

TipseyTorvey · 21/07/2019 06:42

It must take some strength of character to end up a warm, caring, empathetic character when everyone fawns all over you all the time. I suppose A is what happens when a child has everything and is never told 'no'. I understand the queen was away a lot so if there wasn't a strong consistent nanny around it must have been a free for all. Anne seems grounded but Charles and Andrew not so much.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 07:09

I agree with the PP who said Sophie has been the making of Edward. They do quite a lot and get very little publicity. But on the upside, it means they can raise their children in relative privacy. Would any of us recognise James Severn if we passed him in the street? Whatever the truth is about their marriage, they've found something that works!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 07:21

It would you recognise PW if you passed him in the street?

A few years ago, on a dull rainy afternoon, a chap in a cap got out of a car walked across the town square in rural SW. Stood at the cash point, and then walked casually back to his car and drove off. No one noticed anything out of the ordinary. No one looked or stared. But it was PW staying locally and no one noticed.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 21/07/2019 07:38

Sexist I know @TipseyTorvey but I wonder whether Anne was more grounded in that for most of her life Anne was neither the heir or the spare. Well she was spare for first few years but not for the rest of it so not seen as important.

Must be hard for Charles to know that the only way he can get top job is with the death of his mother. I’d say that’s such a burden.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 07:51

@daisypie
Thanks; I didn’t disbelieve you; more I cannot believe that someone’s life is so controlled; they don’t have their own brother’s telephone number.
I remember Anne once said that Charles was very “Grand”. But he was basically raised by the QM who was famously extravagant.

Rumour has it that Phillip didn’t sleep with HM for 9 years as he was angry about the children not having his surname. When he was appeased; he came back and Andrew was the result. Hence he is her” love child” and spoilt.

If that’s true and Phillip did frequent the Queens bed, chances are she may have popped out a couple more children.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 08:00

Diana is now a fashion icon amongst young women dm link.
This is all due to a revival in 80s fashion.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/07/2019 08:02

But someone obviously did recognise him @DobbyTheHouseElk!

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2019 08:08

No, no one did. The person who told me this was the person in the car.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/07/2019 08:12

Speaking for the rural SW, I can well believe PW in the obligatory cap would not generate any great interest.
