You're right @QueenOfTheAndals Kate does sometimes wear too much blusher (and Meghan wears too much bronzer or dark blush sometimes as well). I do think both women look great most of the time though.

I have a particular aversion to very pink blush though as I have sensitive, reactive skin so I personally find it odd that someone would add pink to their skin.

And I see Princess Anne has been out and about on one of her famously glamorous engagements, this time opening a textile factory in Bradford!

She's wearing a fairly bold lipstick here that I rather like.

The Queen opened an exhibition on Queen Victoria today at Buckingham Palace too. Her dress is rather pretty.

I can see how blusher that looks ok at home could look too much in a warm room (or after a small sherry).

Ooh I'd love a poke through the Duchesses make up bags! And their skin/hair care things. I bet they've got so much lovely stuff.

I've used expensive (not La Mer expensive though!) and cheap moisturisers. My favourite? Cheap as chips Nivea Soft in the white tub. It's bloody lovely. It's the one that was blind tested against La Mer and other more mid-range ones and scored higher overall on a TV program a while back.

I agree about the Nivea cream.

@motheroftinydragons La Mer is mainly mineral oil so you may as well use Nivea. Your skin won't notice the difference and your wallet will thank you!

I’m guilty of too much blusher, but it’s hard if you’re pasty and tying to not look ghouly :/ Also, with haggard skin it’s hard to use any makeup that doesn’t look cakey

That’s interesting about Nivea!

That Nivea one really was very nice - finished a pot of it a few months ago. Really all these expensive moisturisers seem a bit because isn’t it all just the same base?

Also used to use a cheapish Vit E oil from Holland and Barrett that you could drink or put on your skin. It was great but they seemed to discontinue it :(

The make up and royals article is good. I'd like to know of a really decent red that looks good with blonde hair, so I always like to find out the lipstick shade that people in the public eye wear. I worry that some reds are too strong for my colouring or they make your teeth look yellow - some lipsticks make your teeth look better / worse.

That's what I should've asked Clare Foy when I saw her the other week - "can I just ask what lipstick you wore to play HM?"

Max in ankle straps. I like them. I'm in the minority i know.

I wore mine today, navy suede, 3'' espadrille style heel, very comfy. I forgot i even had them till the recent flurry of posts about ankle straps up thread and thought i'd dig them out :) Nice with a swishy A line split skirt. It was SO hot here today!
