And I think we all can agree that it's much more fun if we stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women!

How's this for a floral?

I think we'll see Meghan at Wimbledon again this weekend, now that Serena Williams is in the women's final.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/07/2019 19:01

Here's hoping for a joint appearance by the duchesses, though I do feel for them. The cameras will be out and every little move they make will be scrutinised beyond belief.

I've just read an article where a spectator claims she was told off by Meghan's security for taking a photo at Wimbledon; apparently that's not allowed as she was there as a private individual. Said woman says she was taking a photo of the players on court so presumably she was sitting somewhere behind.

I really do feel that M is failing to understand how the relationship between the Royal Family and the public works...

AppleKatie · 11/07/2019 19:20

That story isn’t proof of that though is it? Why do you assume the problem is with Megan when it could just as easily be-
A) a journalist with an agenda
B) an over zealous security guard missing the mark himself
C) a ‘spectator’ with an eye for mountains and molehills

BertrandRussell · 11/07/2019 19:29

“I've just read an article where a spectator claims she was told off by Meghan's security for taking a photo at Wimbledon; ”

Even she didn’t say “told off” - she was asked not to. It is perfectly usual for people to be asked not to take pictures when well known people attend events in a private capacity.

H&M are going to the Lion King premiere cm
They'll probably be meeting Beyonce &Jay-Z
I can imagine SM going into meltdown over that.
She's having a pretty high profile maternity leave.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/07/2019 20:04

Really not sure about Harry's grey suit
He looks miles better in navy.

AppleKatie · 11/07/2019 20:10

It’s like he’s decided it’s his summer colour! How many of those near identical suits do we think he owns 😮

MotherofPearl · 11/07/2019 20:38

@AppleKatie, he's taking a leaf out of Kate's book with the billions of identical pastel coat dresses. Grin

I love Meghans olive dress. It’s certainly a departure from your usual British royal style but I think that’s good. You Brits [takes a long, slow drag on my cigarette and prepares my incendiary device] are far too class conscious and as we say in Swedish ängsliga (insecure and anxious in one word) to dare depart from the norm of “flattering” and traditional (sometimes) and this is why Phase Eight does a roaring trade come wedding season [lobs that Molotov cocktail on the bonfire and legs it]

Disclaimer: I come from a country so fashion savvy that people wear Rieker sandals for best, and the other part of me is Irish, a people well known for their tolerance of “notions” Wink

Ninkaninus · 11/07/2019 21:19

I love her olive dress and would gladly wear it myself, I really like the oversized and unstructured look. It’s a big thumbs up from me!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 11/07/2019 21:34

I liked the olive dress, loved the colour on Meghan, it was very ‘Earth mother’ it suited her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/07/2019 21:34

Oh god yes @banivani, the perennial Phase Eight or Coast dresses at weddings!

I liked the belted version of Meghan's dress or rather the style of it, as olive green does nothing for me.

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 11/07/2019 21:37

I like both. Don’t see anything wrong with the coast or phase eight look either. There’s room for (almost) everything in fashion!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/07/2019 21:39

The main risk with those two brands is that attend any wedding in the U.K. and you run the risk of at least one other wedding guest wearing the same dress!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 11/07/2019 21:42

Heh that’s true!

threadneedle · 11/07/2019 21:43

For lovers of Meghan's dress, I was at the supermarket earlier and saw this which looks very like Meg's in RL, and it's reduced, and they deliver to the UK.

Oh I love that! Too bad I have a grand total of £0 to spend right now. 😭😭

frugalkitty · 11/07/2019 21:56

I went to a wedding in a dress from Monsoon years ago, a normal dress nothing particularly wedding-y, only to find bridesmaids from the other wedding at the reception venue in the same dress! They hadn't got theirs half price in the sale though Grin

SenecaFalls · 11/07/2019 22:22

I went to a wedding in the US and showed up in the exact same dress as the mother of the groom. I spent the entire reception trying to stay away from her, which proved tricky considering that her son had just married my niece. In the big family photo, the photographer obligingly placed me behind two tall nephews.

latedecember1963 · 11/07/2019 22:26

I still miss the Dunnes Store that used to be a few miles from where I live. It was the source of many a bargain and we are still using pans I bought there over 20 years ago. Good to hear there are some still about.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 11/07/2019 22:27

@SenecaFalls - a lot of the smart shops in the U.K. will make a note of the wedding & details of who you are so they don’t sell the same dress to another wedding guest. Doesn’t happen with coast or phase eight though Wink

PinkieTuscadero · 11/07/2019 22:34

Every largeish Irish town has a Dunnes Stores.
