Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

The waterproof parka is gorgeous! I'd love an Olive Green one in size 10-12. I really like the high neck, the concealable hood and the fact that it looks stylish and waterproof which is a really rare combination! I'd wear it for the many coastal walks I go on with my husband and children.

FoxBaseBeta · 02/07/2019 17:16

I would choose the waterproof mac in storm grey (10-12), simply because it's a fantastic colour, practical and looks fantastic! The holy grail!

dontneedthesunshine · 02/07/2019 17:22

Oooooh, they're all lovely, but I'd go for the waterproof commuter in burgundy size 6-8. Practical and stylish and I love the colour.

RandomNameChange415 · 02/07/2019 17:25

My much loved North Face mac is showing its age so I’d like to replace it with a waterproof mac in dark storm grey www.protected-species.com/our-products/waterproof-mac/
I can’t be doing with umbrellas on the commute/school run. I prefer a properly waterproof coat with a hood.

SouthWestmom · 02/07/2019 17:31

Waterproof city walker in atmosphere white or olive green is gorgeous (size ten!). I'd never heard of this brand before so this is a good thread.

GinandGingerBeer · 02/07/2019 17:47

I would love the waterproof Parker in Dark Olive Green.
I commute across South Yorkshire using the train. Between my laptop, handbag & lunch bag, if it rains I'm scuppered as I can't carry a brolly.
The hood looks neat, meaning I'll be able to see when crossing roads..... Grin

Burnshersmurfs · 02/07/2019 17:54

The waterproof parka in olive green (size 10-12) because: it's so lovely; I'll be happy to cycle to work in the rain; and the dogs will get longer walks!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 02/07/2019 18:02

the Waterproof Parka in Fawn....it would match my narrowboat and save me having to wear dh's cast offs for rainy boating!

Size 16 pretty please!

Greyhound22 · 02/07/2019 18:12

I would love the Rain Bomber in Olive Green please.

UpToonGirl · 02/07/2019 18:24

I would go for the Mac (12-14) in burgundy, looks so versatile. I could easily wear it with smart dress or jeans and boots, it would be a welcome addition to my wardrobe!

PinkOboe · 02/07/2019 18:26

The waterproof Parker in dark olive green in a 16-18 because I have to walk bloody miles to work and I’ll never be able to afford one myself ☔️

olafolaf · 02/07/2019 18:27

Also the Waterproof parka, in dark green, size 12 please.

Last year I decided to switch to commuting by bike - but working 30 miles away with frequent trips to other areas means a combination of bike/car, bike/train and sometimes even bike/bus. I often have to walk straight into meetings and occasionally even press interviews so like to keep my top half smart at least. I reckon a Protected Species parka would go very nicely with my Brompton folder!

RustyBear · 02/07/2019 18:34

The City Walker in Burnt Horizon Red would be my choice - I love the colour, the concealed hood and the length, just right for long walks in the country as well as the city!

changingnam · 02/07/2019 18:35

I love the Waterproof Parker in dark olive green. It looks perfect for summer showers and with layers during the winter.

Fingermoose · 02/07/2019 18:35

The waterproof mac is lovely, simple and elegant. I'm looking for a hooded waterproof coat that's not too thick, so I can run for the train without becoming a sweaty mess (glam!) and this looks perfect.

There's no way I'd be able to afford one in real life but if I could if have a Night Sky Navy Waterproof Mac in 16-18.

changingnam · 02/07/2019 18:38

Oops I meant Waterproof Parka

Tiredbadger · 02/07/2019 18:56

I love the waterproof city walker in night sky navy 12-14!

DinosApple · 02/07/2019 18:58

I'd love the waterproof commuter in olive, size 12-14 probably.

It would look fab on the school run and work days. It's very versatile and that colour would go with practically everything in my wardrobe!

sneakypinky · 02/07/2019 18:59

Ooh I love the waterproof Mac in deep burgundy

Bluthbanana · 02/07/2019 19:01

The waterproof Mac in Sandstone Fawn 12-14. I think it would be ideal for work and going out - it looks timeless.

BlueberriesAndCream · 02/07/2019 19:02

oh I'd love a City Walker in navy, as it would be much more practical - I have a white jacket that is too easy to get dirty!

JudgeFlounceRedRugBlah · 02/07/2019 19:08

The waterproof commuter in cobblestone grey. I really struggle with lightweight, not too warm but waterproof. Smart enough for travelling about with work but robust enough to fold away if needed... this looks like it would tick every box!

Alevel · 02/07/2019 19:09

I'd love the waterproof Mac in grey 10-12. I work for a Premier League football club and have to look smart on the side of the pitch on a matchday. Not easy when it is pairing down but this would be perfect!

missfliss · 02/07/2019 19:15

Definitely the Winter Waterproof Parka. I am on the other thread with my purchase last year and would love another warmer version

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 02/07/2019 19:15

Waterproof Mac in sandstone fawn. Would go with dresses as well as jeans.
