Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

I would choose the waterproof commuter in cobblestone grey. It’s smart enough for work and perfectly practical for all weathers. I love all the colours but the grey would go with my entire work wardrobe. The reviews are brilliant and I know it would last for years.

gingercat02 · 02/07/2019 16:18

Oh the waterproof commuter in either olive or burgundy would be amazing. The Autumn colours are very me and the length would be brilliant for hopping in and out of the car at work

PenguinsCantFly · 02/07/2019 16:18

I'd go for the Waterproof Commuter in Burnt Horizon Red. This one is my favourite because it hangs nicely on the model and covers up enough of me to stay dry on the dreaded rainy day school runs!

itstheyearzero · 02/07/2019 16:19

The waterproof parka in True Black. It looks very versatile and I would just love a truly y waterproof coat for once in my life!

SeaSidePebbles · 02/07/2019 16:19

Winter parka in navy :) because I’ve been living in my black waterproof parka and I can vouch it’s amazing!

Stumpedasatree · 02/07/2019 16:20

I would love the Waterproof Commuter in dark olive green (size 6-8), which looks very versatile and stylish, without obvious fastenings, would suit my active lifestyle, and is my favourite colour of all time.

Nyancat · 02/07/2019 16:21

The city walker in white or navy. I have the commuter and it is an amazing coat, lightweight yet keeps me completely dry on my work commute.

Been looking for a summer alternative to my leather biker and the city walker looks perfect, slightly more relaxed shape, perfect for summer showers!

DeadBod · 02/07/2019 16:26

Ladies Waterproof Winter Parka, size 12. Great length and perfect for walking the dog or standing at the side of a footy pitch.

justcallmepeter · 02/07/2019 16:27

I would love the waterproof parka in cobblestone grey.
Just right for the school run when it's raining but you don't want anything too bulky, it would also be great for holidays and walks for the same reason.
Also, it is very very nice !

poshredrose · 02/07/2019 16:32

I'd choose the Waterproof Commuter, it looks great

Nesssie · 02/07/2019 16:34

Waterproof Parka in Dark Olive Green. Its a lovely unusual design, the top detail makes it just slightly unique but still practical. And Olive green is my favourite colour!

Wellhellothere101 · 02/07/2019 16:34

I would choose the waterproof winter parka as it's lined so would keep me cosy on cold, wet days.

Floralnomad · 02/07/2019 16:39

I’d go for the waterproof parka in Olive Green (16) , size up to get layers under and it being waterproof would be a bonus as my current elderly parka is most definitely not waterproof .

Atalune · 02/07/2019 16:40

The waterproof parka in size 6-8 in navy.

It’s the holy grail of a stylish waterproof coat!

Otterses · 02/07/2019 16:41

The waterproof commuter in burnt horizon red (10-12 to account for boobage). The colour is beautiful 😍 would certainly brighten up my commute on a rainy day!

Trumpton · 02/07/2019 16:42

Oh please the Waterproof Winter Parka. I love my Waterproof Parka but need to layer it in the cold and , tiny little gripe , am not keen on the pale lining .
The Waterproof Winter Parka would keep my grandmother bones warm on the dgc school run .
I would need the 16/18 . Too much Cake & Wine !
I queued in the pouring rain for an hour last December to get into “Denis Severs House “ in London and was still dry but very cold .

Justme1981 · 02/07/2019 16:42

I'd go for the waterproof mac in deep burgandy absolutely love the colour, stylish enough for work but practical enough for weekend walks with ds & ddogs 😊

PickAChew · 02/07/2019 16:42

I rather like the commuter, in burgundy, 12-14. The mac looks great on the model but would swamp me.

Chrestomanciscat · 02/07/2019 16:43

Waterproof parka in night sky navy. Size16. It's gorgeous, looks v slimming and I've wanted one since last year! 😍

SuperSange · 02/07/2019 16:46

Waterproof commuter in red, size 16/18. There's no way on this holy earth I could ever afford one irl!!

Gingernaut · 02/07/2019 16:48

Either the Waterproof Mac in Storm Dark Grey or the Waterproof Commuter in True Black. They're stylish and suitable for most occasions.

If size 12-14 doesn't fit, I'll gladly lose weight to fit. Grin

trixymalixy · 02/07/2019 16:49

Waterproof winter parka , black, size 14 I think. Although it is difficult to choose as they are all lovely!!

lilmrschatty · 02/07/2019 16:49

I'd love the waterproof Mac in dark storm grey. It looks smart enough for work while still keeping me dry.

villamariavintrapp · 02/07/2019 17:00

I'd love the waterproof parka in cobblestone grey. I think I'd just keep it on and never have to think about what to wear underneath.

Alsohuman · 02/07/2019 17:02

The waterproof Parka in Night Sky Navy. You could wear that anywhere and look amazing.
