Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

I think I saw a lady in the Winter Parka (in fawn) last week in Falkirk, walking her dog it was pouring with rain and she looked so much more chic than I did in dh's cast offs

I really would appreciate one of these coats! 16, fawn, winterparka, in case you missed my last post It looked so good in real life!

The waterproof parka in storm dark grey, size 12-14 is amazing Smile a bit different than a usual waterproof and still looks stylish! Love it!

Confrontayshunme · 12/07/2019 10:01

I would love the waterproof parka in Cityscape Blue (12-14) because finding a waterproof warm coat suitable for my cycling commute in all weathers is a right nightmare! I usually end up in normal coat with my husband ugly cheap waterproof over it.

Circe32 · 12/07/2019 11:15

The waterproof mac in navy would be lovely. The length is fab and it's practical and stylish.

littlebillie · 12/07/2019 12:57

Love this www.protected-species.com/our-products/waterproof-commuter/ 14

Perfect for city and hill walking, need something very stylish for uk holiday ☔️

CruellaFeinberg · 12/07/2019 13:03

I'd love a Waterproof Mac (I don't even mind what colour, but if I had to then the dark grey or black) ! its so hard to find a coat that is so versatile. You can normally choose between a smart (woollen) coat or an all weather sleeping bag style - so this would be ideal for something to wear to work

helloswellow · 12/07/2019 13:03

It'd have to be the Waterproof Commuter in Cobblestone Grey. That collar is just great and would look lovely regardless of whether you were wrapped up or if it was left undone.

gyreandgimble · 12/07/2019 13:11

Waterproof mac in True Black, size 10-12! I've wanted a decent mac for ages but never seem to have the money - and I agree with all the other posters saying these look so practical and yet so stylish

TheOutside · 12/07/2019 21:10

Waterproof Mac in Storm Dark Grey would be my choice - its so hard to find a smart looking waterproof jacket! Ive only just discovered the Protected Species coats, a definite must-have style investment!!

54nonblonde · 12/07/2019 23:51

The Winter Parka is THE perfect "I've got three playground duties this week and it's snowing!" coat! However, I notice it's out of stock (I'm not surprised, teachers everywhere are already thinking ahead to September...it starts getting cold quite quickly from that point on!) so I'd happily take the waterproof parka (sage green) as an alternative to the thicker winter coat...after all, layering is the 'new black' 🤷‍♀️😊

(16-18)

Kannet · 13/07/2019 07:42

The waterproof commuter. The colour is beautiful

thewayoftheplatypus · 13/07/2019 07:58

I have been looking at these coats since I saw a recommendation on the style and beauty boards! It’s the classic Mac I fancy- in dark storm grey to go with my daily uniform of head to toe black!

Fluffysunshinepants · 13/07/2019 08:20

The winter parker obviously in stylish black (size 14) looks warm but not overly bulky, practical for the dash from car to destination or vice versa without feeling those winter chills

Tuesdayrain · 13/07/2019 08:40

The waterproof Parker looks amazing! The endless school runs in the wind and rain are stretching ahead of me for at least another 5 years 😫

Enigmasaurus · 13/07/2019 10:14

Waterproof Mac in Storm Dark Grey size 10-12 Smile

Antlily · 13/07/2019 11:12

I would love the waterproof mac in burgundy, would be great for cycling when the weather is less than perfect.

memorial · 13/07/2019 11:58

I would love a waterproof parka in cobblestone grey (16-18). I have spent years looking for the perfect waterproof coat and would love to see if this fits the bill. We've just got a puppy and am dreading the winter walks. This would help Grin

funkycoldmedina19 · 13/07/2019 12:18

The waterproof commuter in dark olive green (16-18).
Perfect length to cover my bum which seems to get bigger than my bump during pregnancy. Very stylish, will make me appear more human and less 'rubbish bin' while I'm battling through the windy weather with a very wilful 2 year old and an ever growing bump

CrispsAndChoc · 13/07/2019 19:29

I’d love to win the waterproof commuter in burgundy. Absolutely lovely looking coat 😍. It would be great for getting me to and from work and very stylish!

brimfullofasha · 14/07/2019 08:18

I would chose the waterproof commuter inDark Sky Navy. I've long been searching for the perfect, bum-covering waterproof coat and it think this might be it. Smart enough for work as well.

pongopig · 14/07/2019 08:29

I really like the Waterproof Mac in Storm Dark Grey. It looks very smart, perfect for work and will go with pretty much everything. I like the grey colour as it is not quite as harsh as black so I can imagine wearing this almost all year round.

pongopig · 14/07/2019 08:29

And it has a hood which is a big plus

BenWillbondsPants · 14/07/2019 14:38

The Waterproof Parka in storm grey (14-16). Absolutely love the look of it, especially the button detail at the top. Practical but in a cool way, I reckon I'd feel great wearing it.

ChablisLover · 14/07/2019 19:35

The Mac in navy or grey in a size m
Look so stylish and expensive - a great alternative to a normal
Sweaty plastic rain mac

JC4PMPLZ · 14/07/2019 19:46

The Waterproof Winter parka is just what I need. Looks lovely. Am already worrying about a toasty coat for winter and I like the fact this is just a big longer. Hate getting wet knees. 12 would do it, any colour!
