Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

Waterproof Mac in Sandstone Fawn in 12/14. It looks so stylish and very flattering Smile

Pandamimi · 09/07/2019 13:09

Waterproof Mac in Navy. I've been eyeing this for months and was waiting for a campaign where discounts are made available.

The reason I want it in the first place is that I've never had a rain coat, I normally go around in a jacket and an umbrella, I added to my collection a waterproof wintercoat and discovered the joys of walking in the rain without the extra baggage of an umbrella and free hands! I then decided I needed a similar thing for all seasons. But for me whilst practical is first, style is not far behind and I saw this in the Mac, there are probably cheaper ones. But this is where all my requirements for quality, comfort and style are met at the same time.

I’d love a black waterproof city walker. Perfect for wet& rainy days in and out of the car! And looks lovely for the more petite of us!

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 09/07/2019 19:08

I'd love the Waterproof Commuter in Burnt Horizon Red, size 12/14.It would be just perfect for my strolls into town.

CREATIVZ · 10/07/2019 01:15

The Waterproof City Walker in Night Sky Navy, it’s my kind of style and looks like a great functional jacket, I liked several but this one in particular immediately grabbed my attention, I know I’d get so much use out of it, size 16-18 will fit (just) but I’d prefer 18-20 ! Blush

Isthisafreename · 10/07/2019 01:28

The Rain Bomber in Night Sky Navy in a size 12.

It's the goldilocks of jackets - not too short, not too long and would, I think, suit my short frame perfectly as long jackets tend to swamp me. Perfect for walking the dogs.

Leggyfrog · 10/07/2019 01:42

For me i think the Waterproof Mac in sandstone would be perfect size 12-14.

I'm currently upgrading my work wardrobe as I'm moving into a more senior role in August that also means a lot more travelling to other cities too. The Mac looks perfect.

Waterproof city walker in dark olive green please Grin

SeekingShade · 10/07/2019 10:35

The rain bomber in navy

IamEarthymama · 10/07/2019 11:57

I spend an inordinate time searching for the perfect waterproof coat and
Waterproof Parka in Dark green is perfect!
Size 16-18

I walk everywhere and spend a lot of time with small children,
I wear a rather eccentric style of clothes at times, 😊, however, this coat will look good with all my choices.
Thank you for this opportunity

PooWillyBumBum · 11/07/2019 14:10

I would go for the waterproof mac with hood in gorgeous deep burgundy, size 10.

It looks like a 21st century version of the coats my gorgeous grandmother would wear. I’d of course need to find a new lightweight scarf to accompany or she’d roll in her grave!

Notonaschoolnight · 11/07/2019 14:23

Waterproof winter parka seems ideal for dog walking

MTBMummy · 11/07/2019 15:55

The Waterproof Commuter is just lovely! A lovely longer length but still slim line with a hood, couldn't really ask for more (and in the burgundy it's match the rest of my wardrobe beautifully Wink )

LottieLucie · 11/07/2019 17:58

I fell in love with the waterproof parka in dark olive green as soon as I saw it! Ideal for all seasons and it's my favourite colour too.

ceebeejeebies · 11/07/2019 18:13

The waterproof mac, it's so classic and I love the sporty details

LuaDipa · 11/07/2019 21:28

The Waterproof Parka size 10/12 in dark olive green. It is so rare to find a waterproof hooded rain jacket that is stylish and flattering. Most are shapeless and far too short to keep one dry!!

Sodamncaughtinthemiddle · 11/07/2019 21:37

Waterproof Parker in dark olive green size 6-8
I lost 9 stone this last year and havent bought a new coat yet to fit me at me new final weight.

I walk miles daily taking kids to school and then on to walk. Plus it helps maintain the weight loss

These are coats I lust after but could never justify.

21seconds · 11/07/2019 21:54

The waterproof Mac in the storm grey,
Perfect for work in the changeable grey sky’s in edinburgh

MsMustDoBetter · 11/07/2019 22:03

Waterproof Parka in Black or Olive Green 10-12 would be worn day in and out for yonks! School runs, shopping in the village, dressed up for town, chic dog walking in the park and play dates.

36degrees · 11/07/2019 22:36

The waterproof commuter in burnt horizon red. It's my colour and its shape looks like the perfect mix of structured and unstructured. Plus it's always nice to stand out against the grey weather.

Osquito · 12/07/2019 00:12

I think I’d choose the Waterproof City Walker in navy. With its sporty luxe lines it looks like a regular (as in non-waterproof) jacket - so something I can wear rather than keep bundled in a bag or feel silly walking about in if it is dry, and the colour is a classic!

It was a close call between that and the parka and beaaautiful mac, but I think at dual-sizing they’d be too long/big on me Sad.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 12/07/2019 05:59

Waterproof commuter - 12-14. I love the colour!

Choconuts · 12/07/2019 06:28

I'd love the waterproof parka in dark olive green size 12-14. I still kick myself every time it rains that I didn't take advantage of the brilliant discount offered through Mumsnet a while ago!

DramaticGoose · 12/07/2019 06:36

The waterproof Mac in sandstone fawn because it's a classic style and colour. I've wanted a Mac for ages but never have the money for one. These look amazing.
