Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

The waterproof Mac in burgundy. It looks so stylish as well as practical! Also a dear friend bought me a beautiful burgundy hat which would go so well with the Mac!

CandiedGinger · 07/07/2019 17:16

Definitely the Waterproof Winter. Only available in black, but that's the perfect colour anyway. And I like the sleek lines. Never seen such an elegant raincoat before, and do desire it.

TheHopefulTraveller · 07/07/2019 17:49

Well, how very generous. I'm an old-fashioned kind of girl, so I would choose the Waterproof Mac in the lovely classic Sandstone Fawn, in 16-18, 'so I can wear it over a jumper'. Wink

katheroo · 07/07/2019 17:50

I'd choose the waterproof mac, a classic style perfect for all our rainy days!

Serin · 07/07/2019 17:51

Oooh Nice!! I Hadn't heard of your company before and I was half expecting a coat made from tiger fluff.
The waterproof parka in black (14-16) would be perfect for me at work. I'm a community HCP and I'm often to be found standing on doorsteps in the rain!!

Sickoffamilydrama · 07/07/2019 17:58

The waterproof Mac in classic sky navy. No more wet hair waiting for the train!

OrdinarySnowflake · 07/07/2019 17:58

Waterproof commuter in dark olive. (6-8)

OrdinarySnowflake · 07/07/2019 18:00

Oh actually, change that to waterproof mac in storm grey. (6-8)

walkingtheplank · 07/07/2019 18:05

I'd be split between the City Walker in red and the waterproof Mac in navy. The Walker is a 'want' whilst the Mac is a 'need'.
Quite refreshing to see something both stylish and practical.

littlewhitething · 07/07/2019 18:08

I"d absolutely adore to own the waterproof winter parka in any colour whatsoever. I am so sick of being cold and wet in my wheelchair when the weather gets nasty but I still have to go out and battle with two buses to get to the hospital. Jackets are never long enough to go under my bum so that the rain coming down my back seeps into my jeans and I have a wet bum all day! I'm not allowed to drive so I can't get round it that way either and believe me, feeling like you're wearing a wet nappy all day is soooo demoralizing

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 07/07/2019 18:41

I’d choose the rain bomber in navy in size 16. Great length and looks like it’d be ideal for trips away and city breaks as well as dog walks and tramping through the countryside.

gd1976 · 07/07/2019 19:38

This is a dream style to cover all the lumps and bumps whilst be so flattering and cool! Love the green, size 8 perfect!

SlipperyLizard · 07/07/2019 20:07

The Winter Waterproof Parka - would be great to find a coat that keeps me dry and warm!

Reenskar · 07/07/2019 20:19

Would have to be the Rain Bomber in night sky navy for me; perfect versatility to see me through the school run, dog walks and the dreaded rainy break time duty at work (Teacher)Grin

iamjellybean · 07/07/2019 21:28

The Mac, 12 - 14 in storm dark grey. Ben looking to replace my old tatty (non waterproof) mac for something a bit smarter and this definitely fits the bill.

margaritasbythesea · 08/07/2019 07:02

The waterproof commuter in grey. So chic!

unagi · 08/07/2019 18:05

The waterproof commuter in dark olive green (16-18) would add some much needed style to my drab wardrobe. Time for a more grown up look!

scarcelyodd · 08/07/2019 21:21

I need to replace my faded green seasalt coat so I'd love the waterproof parka in cityscape blue, size 16-18 for layering.

MrsMaudwatts · 08/07/2019 21:23

I'd go for the waterproof parka in navy, 12/14.

I love the fact that it's totally waterproof, but still stylish with a nice modern twist, and long enough to cover long tops (and also your bum - helpful for wet park benches/swings!).

Tinseltrauma · 08/07/2019 21:27

I would love the olive green waterproof parka in 10-12. Currently eking another year out of my old coat and desperate for something stylish but practical!

ILoveCrunchyAutumnLeaves · 08/07/2019 21:29

I would love the Waterproof Mac in Dark Sky Navy in 12 - 14 please.

I love it, looks great, is practical & has a hood, which is hard to find on a longer Mac.

WutheringTights · 08/07/2019 21:31

The Waterproof Mac in storm grey. Smart and classic enough for the office but practical enough for the school run with a buggy in tow.

Morgan12 · 08/07/2019 21:40

The waterproof winter jacket in black looks perfect. A true autumn/winter staple. Very stylish and different from other brands. Size 14 would be perfect for me and make me smile on a cold frosty Scottish morning.

RoaryMouth · 08/07/2019 22:05

I would love the waterproof parka in olive green. Long enough to cover my bum, stylish in a classic parka colour and much needed. Recently discovered my not-so-fashionable raincoat is no longer waterproof! Also the forecast in Scotland seems to be for rain for most of the summer holidays. 🌦

UpTheLaganInABubble · 08/07/2019 22:36

I would love love love the Waterproof Commuter in Deep Burgundy! As a non-driver (Sorry Mumsnetters Grin) and living in Northern Ireland, I am definitely no stranger to getting soaked on the school run or while walking the dog, and I'm sick of looking scruffy in my current parka... this coat would definitely make me feel more stylish while keeping dry!
