Obviously today's the second day of Ascot but given Kate's outfit yesterday, I felt a My Fair lady tribute was fitting!

Gosh love these threads. All the frock ogling! Thanks Queen!!
I also thought His hat was bizarre when I saw it with the flowers stuck all over it
Does she have lots of plain ones and randomly stick faux flowers ( on in this case very fake ones) on them to distinguish them?
I have to admit i did feel rather sorry for them having to just sit there in van open carriage with puddles forming around their feet. Its the kind of thing I just opt not to go to if the weather's bad I'd rather sactifice it than suffer a wet cold day.

Thank you for the brand spanking new thread QueenOfTheAndals Smile
Max looks amazing, even with her hair down and not styled , 'she pays to dress' as my Mum would say Smile. Well done on finding the carriage procession list Youngest , that was brilliant of you scurries off to see if there is one for tomorrow and ladies day
Not so fond of the Queens coat today but love her hat, Camillla always sticks to what suits her and doesn't put a foot wrong usually.

Princess Anne looks much better than usual. I was most pleasantly surprised. Her outfit looks a bit more up to date and composed. Anyone know when that one made its previous appearance ?

Funny you should say that Glamgiraffe. I said in the previous thread I thought it looked very very vintage

When is lady's day this year? Hopefully we will see some more royals out for that. I think it's only the queen that goes every day though?

Why did Sophie never end up as popular as Diana in the celebrity stakes? She's as beautiful, high profile, etc. I guess because she wasn't married to Charlie?

The Queen's hat matches her dress but the flowers look like they came from Poundland. I like Sophie's hat today so much more than yesterday.

I think probably because she married Edward managedmis and the press has always regarded him as a bit pointless, so unless he does something really shocking, he doesn't get a lot of notice. I also reckon (but have no evidence for this!) that neither of them play the game of tipping off the photographers, or leaking stories.

Sophie's hat is much better today. I like Camilla's too. Can't beat a massive, impractical hat as far as I'm concerned!

managedmis I think Diana's story is about as tabloid tempting as it can get!

Beautiful but shy aristocratic teenager from broken home marries eligible bachelor heir to the British throne after whirlwind engagement. Big age gap. Produces 2 sons. She transforms into a stunning woman and is arguably the most photographed celeb of the era. Marriage breaks down. Messy affairs with gory details. Divorce. He gets with his mistress. She gets more and more photogenic, joins the jet set, hits her peak and then dies in her 30s in a terrible accident that may or may not have been caused by the very press who courted her since she was 19. Rumors still swirl around her decades on and her children are now marrying and having babies. One of which may (or may not) be the future monarch.

Sofie - reasonably attractive, got married to Prince Edward in her 30s and is still married to him. Has 2 children.

No contest really Grin

Anyone else notice Amanda Wakeley wearing a gigantic oversized Anne Boleyn headband, photographed yesterday at Ascot ?

Yes and it looked bloody awful - this from someone who adores a headband.

Why did Sophie never end up as popular as Diana in the celebrity stakes? She's as beautiful, high profile, etc.

There was a huge amount of interest in who Charles married. But also Diana did have star quality. Sophie, with the best will in the world, didn't.

She looked a lot like Diana but in a diluted way. She didn't have Diana's way with the media. We thought (mistakenly) that Diana was shy, but in fact she was artfully coy. She had a twinkle in her eye that was very winning.

Sophie has turned out to be a rock solid royal, but she didn't have the same appeal as Diana. And probably no bad thing.
