Hi All - SotE is Seville a'L'Aube having today finished Denyse Beaulieu's The Perfume Lover. Interesting techno-gossipy bits about perfume making - imagine though it would be tough going for non-Perfumistas. Now I want to smell Le Parfum pour Therese

cantbelievemyeyes · 28/07/2019 07:01

I'm still here, just been ill and busy with work as well as melting! Took advantage of the poor weather yesterday and wore both Baraonda and Grand Soir for an evening out. Awesome combo that's still going strong thus morning.

Have just bought a few new decants to try- Xerjoff Mefisto and Zefiro, SL Ambre Sultan, and Feve Delicieuse. Very excited for all of these Grin

MrsMoggs · 28/07/2019 09:07

Back from holidays having spent most of the week in the PP homage to Mandarino di Amalfi which is lovely stuff to spray with abandon.

Have returned to my house and it smells of damp and cat Shock - funny how you only notice when you've been away...

SotD is the original Omnia but it whispers so gently that I might need to apply something more robust and cheering not least to cover the domestic whiff Grin.

Iambuffy · 28/07/2019 10:49

Hope you're feeling better can't
Dreadful night. I was still awake at 4!
Ambre sultan is lovely.
No idea re sotd yet...
I'm still in bed...

FloofyCatDoesVeryBadThings · 28/07/2019 12:40

Hello fragrant friends!

Finally returned from holiday, a fabulous combination of pouring rain, hardly any WiFi signal and teenagers Shock I have watched more Love Island than I ever wanted to (even if I wasn't allowed to speak as I kept asking "but why are all their lips like that?" and "why do they say boys and girls when they're men and women?" Wink) Actually it was quite good fun and nice for us to all spend time together as it doesn't happen that often these days. I hopefully took the PP Amalfi too but ended up in Babylon Sunset and even Sleep Knot Grin

Hope anyone else on holiday is having a good time (btw Teta I'm sorry I was lighthearted before about you not wanting to go on hols, I didn't realise your DH was causing problems)

How is the toe buffy?

Sorry so much has happened on thread I feel like I'm being rude not engaging properly Blushand count I am excited to try your samples properly now I'm back. I deliberately haven't looked them up but have tried the Dryad very briefly and it reminds me of something in Chanel 19. Will report back Smile

Waving at you all from my chaotic (not in a glamorous way) life.

I am slogging away at more life admin that must be completed before I go off for August holidays to stay with family. Which will be nice.

I didn't have a SOTD!!! Shocking. I have been wearing a lot of Midnight in the Palace Garden, though. It holds up in the heat. Plus a little Freeway, and Monyette Paris on occasion too.

Unfortunately I've gone off #MrsGlossMadeMeDoIt as it reminds me of a scent I can't place from my childhood. I did really enjoy its sweet, fizzy, joyfulness until it started bothering me.

I am also trying to figure out what to bring on holiday with me (Canada, probably hot (ish) weather, lots of driving so I can't wear anything that will bother other car occupants).

Iambuffy · 28/07/2019 22:45

Oh it's a shame when that happens mother have a great holiday!

Hope the head improves judy

Well....I've ordered the 2 boxes and free perfume from Perfume society :)

Dh and boys are away for 3 days from friday so its my treat...

teta · 29/07/2019 04:43

We're in HK revisiting old haunts and two miles down the road from the riots. We arrived the other day to a massive chaotic protestors sit in at the airport .dd1 couldn't go out with her friends to a bar in Causeway bay last night because of the riots there and dd2 has been trotting around hk with her friends on the MTR .One couldn't get home last night because of the turmoil . It must have been frightening as she's only 15.
Sotd is Ormonde Jayne Frangipani. I've also tested the new Chanel colognes and the new Aqua Allegorias . I love Ginger Piccante, but it's not dissimilar to the the Roger & Gallet ginger.

MotherOfDragonite · 29/07/2019 07:45

I just DABT too, Buffy -- discovery boxes and free perfume. Blush

teta · 29/07/2019 07:57

I’m sitting on my hands @Iambuffy as I don’t want to spend any more money.
@mother have a great holiday. Do you get to have lots of blueberries and corn where you’re going😁

Calmasasleepycat · 29/07/2019 09:38

Good morning everyone! Have been missing for a while because of RL time consuming things. Also this thread was missing because I had, in error, blocked it. 😨. Lovely Mumsnet HQ helped me to find a missing button to reinstate it.

During the extremely hot weather I hardly wore perfume. I was slathered in sun cream and also tend to get skin reactions if I wear perfume and go out in the bright sunshine, so just avoided it.

Over the last week or so I have been wearing Tommy Girl, Imaginary Authors O Unknown (smoky tea and parchment), Lolita Lempicka Elle (lime, vanilla and coconut), YSL In Love Again (fruity blackcurrant floral) and Caron Eau de Reglisse (citrus and liquorice). I have also been dipping into my Tauer samples; Sotto La Luna Gardenia (dusty, earthy gardenia with creamy toffee notes), Carillon Pour Un Ange (rich, green lily of the valley and lilac) and Une Rose Chypree.

Iambuffy · 29/07/2019 15:57

Blimey teta scary!

Very glad that someone has joined me in DABT mother! 😁

calm glad to see you back x

I ordered a cheap bottle of convent les minimes cologne as recommended on a previous thread...it's lovely! I can see me wearing this a lot!

MrsMoggs · 29/07/2019 20:16

That sounds alarming Teta.

Lovely to hear from you Calm.

SotD was Paris 1948 - thoroughly enjoyed wearing this chalky retro peach chypre today. I usually reach for this in the spring but it works really well in the summer.

Have had a tough first day back at work; fried brains, consequently spent far too long trying to decode DABT. Got to Date and Banana and something beginning with T before the penny dropped.

MrsMoggs · 29/07/2019 20:21

Meant to say that some of the Kierins are in the Feel Unique pick n mix at the moment.

Iambuffy · 29/07/2019 20:50

mrsm 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But have you DABT??

MrsMoggs · 29/07/2019 20:56

Only a little one Buffy Grin

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 29/07/2019 22:11

Boa noite, lovely perfumistas. Just back from a week in Lisbon, during which I was mainly wearing Philosykos, liberally applied. I did also branch out into L'ombre dans l'eau and Orangers en Fleurs now and again, both of which I adore.

Fell in love with Bronze Goddess in duty free Blush but didn't DABT! Grin I had heard that it's the skinscent that is supposed to be the go-to, but tbh I much preferred the gloriously OTT EDP...but ultimately decided that it was just too close to suntan lotion to be worth shelling out for (I know that's kinds the point about BG but...)

DS, however, splashed almost all his holiday money on Dior Sauvage before we'd even left the country...I've created a monster Grin

MrsMoggs · 30/07/2019 06:47

Welcome back Maud - talking of what we have spawned, my DS pursued me around Duty Free pleading for some Only the Brave, "because of the bottle" Shock. One for his Christmas list if he really is serious.

teta · 30/07/2019 08:26

I'm very tempted to Dabt.
Tested the new Van Cleef & Arpels Santal blanc and absolutely adore it.
Green figgy Sandalwood and Musk with a bit of Neroli. It's all my favourite notes wrapped up in a single package. But I'm not buying it in HK as it's over £120. It's on all beauty for half that price. I also really like Neroli Amara but it's similar to California Reverie and I must have about 10 Neroli perfumes already.
Talking if which Sotd is Profumum Roma Neroli. Just one of the best Neroli's ever.

FloofyCatDoesVeryBadThings · 30/07/2019 09:08

Well I tried to DABT 🐑 but the Perfume Society no longer accept PayPal and I have A Rule that my perfume purchases are only funded through my eBay funds. I may or may not have had a tantrum and bought a new lipstick and mascara elsewhere instead Blush in fairness I am very excited about these Grin

I vaguely remember lipstick love being in one of the Venn diagrams, is anyone knowledgeable about eyelashes? I seem to have coaxed some of mine back (hence the mascara) and have been reading about LVL. Anyone know anything? I just realised I look so pale and tired and think if I could look a bit better it would cheer me up!

Maud for Summer vibes that aren't £££ for three days wear a year Grinhave you tried the PP Soleil Blanc TF dupe? I still swear by Avon Tahitian Holiday as the most bargainous lovely summer scent ever.

Hello calm! All of those perfumes sound wonderful for hot weather. It hasn't stopped raining here

Teta how scary for your DCs. Hope you are all OK.

SOTE yesterday was Hummingbird (courtesy of the lovely Count!) I don't know much about this one and deliberately haven't looked online as I want to try and develop my sniffing skills...this is lovely, sweet but a "deep and warm" sweet rather than cloying. I do find it hard to distinguish different notes as it's so..honey like which is so dominant but I think I detect sandalwood in the dry down, which I actually preferred. That's only two notes isn't it
