If anyone has any white queen they want to swop, pm me! :)

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 19:55

Sote eau de l ambre by AdP

Luscious

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/07/2019 20:21

SOTD Byredo Gypsy Water. We had to cut our break short because MIL locked herself out of our house, with the cat (and spare keys) inside. A locksmith wouldn’t help because not her house, so cue emergency early morning flight costing £££. In retrospect we should have tried to courier another set up, but panic.

Is that your favourite Amber Buffy?
I've noticed that many of the perfumes I love usually have one or more of the following in them bergamot, carnation, hyacinth, jasmine, patchouli & sandalwood in them.
I quite like Prada Amber which has bergamot, patchouli & sandalwood in it.

Going back to your nomination you get a bottle of Silent Pool gin if picked for that week. MN are picking a nominated MNetter a week for the next 2 months.

I've just looked at the Silent Pool website & the gin bottles look so pretty & they do candles!!!
silentpooldistillers.com/

Sorry I don't have any White Queen.
Looked on 4160 T & their half price scent of the week is Invisible Ben.

I've got a sample of Moschino Toy 2 coming in the post from ebay so looking forward to trying that.

JaimeBronde · 12/07/2019 20:24

Oh no what a pain Judy
I'm scared to leave the sofa now as a fellow Perfumista.........just in case.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/07/2019 20:32

Evening all.

SOTD has been the rather wonderful Rosee de Nuit by Friedemodin. A sharp, earthy, woody violet with sandalwood, which sounds seriously odd but is really lovely. I do like a sour floral Grin

buffy, it's never ending! You poor thing - it's not going to interfere with your holiday is it?

body - those Kierin perfumes look like fun - I quite fancy the figgy 10am Flirt Grin

Thank goodness the 4160 SOTW isn't anything I want [looks sadly at bank statement]. I got an email yesterday saying my Clouds crowdfunder would be on the way soon though... I'd forgotten about it completely so that's quite exciting!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/07/2019 20:37

Jaime if you are into carnations can I suggest SL Vitriol d'Oeillet if you've not already tried it?

Talking of which, I really need to get my hands on a full bottle of Prada Oeillet...much, much better than that insipid Iris Wink

CountFosco · 12/07/2019 20:43

SotD Herba Fresca. The heavens opened at school pick up time so by the time I got home (with 5 children, neighbour needed a favour) we were all soaked through.

Buffy what a nightmare, you definitely need gin, hope you get it xxx

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 21:26

I really like prada amber :)

Hard to say what my favourite one is...I guess for sentiments sake its probably Avon timeless :) and its only £5!

I have:
4160 Amberama
4160 amber mambo
LofF amber
HdsP Ambre 114
Prada amber
AdP L Eau D Ambre
Timeless
...and various amber samples I honestly cant remember!
I'm sure I got a lovely one last week from a perfumista but mind has gone blank meds kicking in 😁
Amour nocturne?

If you like amber I cant recommend 4160 amberama and amber mambo enough!

I'm hoping to still enjoy my hols...I shall mainline candy floss and pain killers :)

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 21:29

And thank you for all the good wishes x

Seems all I do is moan atm!

JaimeBronde · 12/07/2019 23:59

Buffy you have a bloody good reason to moan & it's ok. Although these threads are Perfume, I've read through some of the others & it seems that everyone is really nice!
Enjoy your holiday!
Ooh & I've always fancied having a look round Berwick as it looks really pretty when passing through it on the train to Edinburgh.

Maud that sounds like my kind of thing so I'll add Vitriol d'Oeillet to my list.

Iambuffy · 13/07/2019 06:57

J We were hoping to go to Edinburgh one day - the national museum is amazing - but I will have to see how my foot is.

I am off on my travels today so TTFN ❤

Please do let me know if you are booking a session at 4160Tuesdays in October- I'm in! :)

I don't think I've packed enough samples so I'm off to root through my sample drawer again....

Byeeeee

teta · 13/07/2019 07:16

Have a good holiday @Iambuffy. Your moaning has been totally justifiable. Love Rosee De nuit too @MaudBaileysGreenTurban.
Am packing for a holiday I really don't want to go on .....for a month.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 13/07/2019 10:20

Oh, where are you going teta? How come you don't want to go? (Don't answer if that's too nosey!)

DP and I are off to Tate Modern this afternoon and then out for a very belated Valentine's / my birthday dinner Grin. We're having a 7-course tasting menu at a michelin-starred place, so quite excited!

Have a lovely holiday buffy!

FloofyCatDoesBadThings · 13/07/2019 10:34

Judy how annoying! Of course you can't blame your MIL as clearly the cat deliberately hid her keys so you would be forced to come back and attend to her every need Smile

Jaime looking forward to feedback on the Moschino as it looked so cute but I can't forgive them for that one that looked like Flash cleaner so have boycotted them since Angry

Maud that sounds lovely; what perfume are you wearing? This is important information!

Buffy have a fab holiday! And you have a lovely excuse to flop around and insist drinks are brought to you etc Wink Don't kill me, but if you think a wheelchair may be useful (sorry) Red Cross loan them out for a donation. May be too late anyway.

Teta I also really want to know why you're going away for a month, but don't want to? it wasn't you that taught in the Summer was it?

Hopefully we will be off this month too 🤞🏻 although I fear my arm may fuck it right up (language, sorry) I have a horrible feeling insurance wouldn't cover it anyway as technically it's linked to my declared pre existing condition Hmm I am sick of always causing a problem for everything

At least my cat will be happy if I can't go Wink

teta · 13/07/2019 11:03

Would I hate my 'dh' cover it?

MotherOfDragonite · 13/07/2019 15:45

Oh dear, teta. What's up? That doesn't sounds good.

Sorry to hear about all of the catastrophes on this thread! It puts my essay into perspective. buffy, I hope you're recovering. Judy, that sounds awful but I can absolutely imagine doing something like that myself. Hindsight is a wonderful thing (in hindsight, right?).

SOTD is LADDM, which I love in hot weather.

I recently read a tip for prolonging the longevity of fragrances -- spray them on 'cooler' areas such as the outside of your wrist. It's really worked well for me. I find that fragrances are wearing off more quickly in this warm weather and this helps them last for longer on me, anyway.

I gave in and Did A Bad Thing. Should we trademark DABT as a group acronym? (I bought #Mrsglossmademedoit on the last day of it being half price...)

teta · 13/07/2019 15:54

Oh @FloofyCatDoesBadThings I do hope you get away for a lovely holiday. By the sounds of it you're overdue for one.
@Mother it's very hard doing a tough course and being a sole carer of two little ones . So I understand the extra pressure of essays can be enough to tip you over the edge.
To put it simply H has decided that he doesn't want me to go on holiday with them. I don't want to go either but the kids are not safe with him. And dd1 has very reasonably has said if I dont go she will have the responsibility of the other three.

MotherOfDragonite · 13/07/2019 16:12

That sounds awful (and complicated) teta. I'm really sorry.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/07/2019 19:54

SOTD MMM Whispers in the Library. I got a decent on eBay and am glad I didn’t blind buy a full bottle. It’s probably my least favourite of the MMMs.

floofy she is such a monkey, on Thursday night she wouldn’t come in, after us travelling 400 miles to get to her, and spent the night under the stars, then last night she somehow got a little mouse!

Sending 💐 for everyone who is having a rough time.

OP posts:
MotherOfDragonite · 13/07/2019 21:05

Goddamit, I'm sending some Gin to go with those.

(Frantically typing away at my essay. Not procrastinating at all on MN. Oh no.)

Iambuffy · 13/07/2019 21:07

I'm glad you share my view of it judy
I was SO excited when i saw ghe description of this one.
It really does smell like hairspray doesnt it??
teta 💐

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/07/2019 21:52

I just get a mediocre vanilla, buffy. I am not a massive vanilla lover, but I do like it done well, this reminds me on something I would have sniffed in the dusty chemist’s beside my gran’s house. I am so glad I tried it though, as I was dithering about asking DP to bring it back from one of his jollies.

Conversely, I absolutely love Byredo Bibliotheque, which is of a similar ilk. I had a quick smell of it in SNK when I was in Glasgow for a training, and immediately asked for it for Christmas.

OP posts:
Iambuffy · 14/07/2019 08:23

I must try the byredo....no one near me sells it, not since HofF closed anyway.

You never know, I may get perfume buying opportunities on my hols ;)

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/07/2019 11:39

teta Flowers that sounds incredibly difficult, I'm sorry.

I wore Mona di Orio Vanille last night (talking of vanilla perfumes, I am such a sucker for them). When we walked into the restaurant I immediately said to dp, 'Someone's wearing Philosykos' (he looked bemused) but actually it turned out that the bathrooms were packed with Heeley Figuier...so I took a photo for my Perfumista lovelies Grin

Apologies for the slightly out-of-focus pic - it was the end of the evening after some very nice wine!
