We live relatively close and so everyone I know goes there regularly. Are you going to Alnwick Castle? It takes two days, one for the wonderful gardens and the second day for the castle. Do the broomstick flying class, it's hilarious. Lindesfarne is fab as well, and Bamburgh and there's a fab bookshop in Alnwick as well. Have a lovely time.

Bloody hell buffy that is scary. DH once started a small kitchen fire grilling cheese on toast and that was terrifying enough without much damage (ironically I used to work in a vaguely connected field to this!) I hope they get it sorted ASAP, of course it's a big deal I wonder if they're dragging their heels as they're frantically ringing their solicitors? Surely a clear cut case of negligence?! Your house insurance should have a legal advice line, I would contact them. You shouldn't be out of pocket in a situation like this

SOTD is surgical spirit as I just knocked THE BIGGEST bottle of it over in the bathroom it's literally everywhere as it fell on the floor. On the bright side it smells like I have done loads of cleaning (when I was only using it for a new piercing anyway ) I actually love the smell of surgical spirit but not pints and pints of it

SOTD is Vitriol d'Oeillet by Serge Lutens. It's my birthday today and dp got me a bottle. It's really lovely - much more soothing than I was expecting from the name A beautiful spicy clove, pepper and carnation scent, which sounds ridiculously full-on but it's not at all. It's soft, warm and spicy but also quite restrained. I love it! Clever old Christopher Sheldrake

I made some perfume.
ALmond oil base.
drops of rose oil, vetiver, bergamot, orange, basil, marigold.
A strange mix but it works. I smell like a candle shop.

@Iambuffy stupid bloody fitter. They will be insured for things like that and should accept total liability. What a absolute pita to have to clean the whole place down just before going on holiday.

I think you might like O Oui Floof? Features a huge vodka note and is a bit like surgical spirit. It is one of those curious things where you wonder how exactly it got into production.

Have taken receipt of my Rome 1963 and yes it does seem a bit different to my 9ml. The wild retsina opening seems tamed. Not sure yet if that is a good thing? I had to get rid off a bottle of The Great Randello once because the tobacco note seemed dimmed. Bought another bottle which was fine. Not sure if I imagined it or not...

Giving Mrs Gloss a whirl - sweet opening/soapy base. Inspired by Kali and Buffy and the Glossers I was wondering whether we should attempt another workshop together some time? The much missed Green christened her perfume from the last one , The Vipers Outing .
