Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

Thanks for that Tele article @Bling. Lots of useful info for those of us that are... ahem... blessed Wink.

(Also this is a somewhat blatant placemark to help make you all easier to find!)

shedid · 14/06/2019 12:19

@GlamGiraffe I think you're probably right. Here's a (unflattering) pic from the other night, came up on Instagram earlier today. Amazing brows ☺️
Wouldn't be surprised if she's had a bit of filler and had her 11s done. I would. I'm the same age but double the size and if I had her lifestyle and constant scrutiny I'd have some subtle tweaks here and there.

bean I never thought about that, maybe she did pick a) orange and then b) that shade on purpose?

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/06/2019 12:33

Poor Kate, that's a very unfortunate shot. I think she may suffer a bit from BRF but then again, so do many of us!

EarClipper · 14/06/2019 12:51

That Kate’s had botox between her eyebrows is clear from that pic. You can see the tell-tale stretched flatness. Always a giveaway. .

GlamGiraffe · 14/06/2019 13:09

@shedid gosh my 11's dont make me look like that when i occasionally get them done. I go to someone well known for the minimal look though, having said that I'd imagine she would too.

ElspethFlashman · 14/06/2019 13:13

I always think its a shame when young people feel they have to get Botox, but I have a friend who does it (licenced) and she would say prevention is easier than cure. So I don't know.

I guess you use whatever tools are at your disposal when you're on TV and in the papers.

Besides, apparently 90% of TV and news presenters have it. I mean, just look at Jimmy Carr!

But ask someone on the street and they'd just say he was ageing slowly and really well, so maybe he's 100% right to do it and so is Kate.

angstridden2 · 14/06/2019 13:25

The DoC has always been very slim with practically no hips....look at beach pics from their honeymoon. She’s obviously fit enough to conceive and give birth to three children easily. Her mother and sister are also tall, slim and fit. Lucky her to have great genes!

Alwayscheerful · 14/06/2019 13:35

@CurlyWurlyTwirly
I am fascinated by the skirt lengths. Looking at the 3 Instagram photos, which length do you prefer? I did wonder if the hem may have been altered on the 3rd photo?
I am tall and I can wear short skirts and long midi skirts but I can never work out why I shy away from certain skirt lengths in between.

Alwayscheerful · 14/06/2019 13:38

@angstridden2
I know of a drug addict with 9 healthy children.
My cousin is anorexic she has had bulimia for 20 years she has 4 healthy children
I am not sure that conceiving and giving birth necessarily demonstrates that a women is of a healthy weight.

BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 14:29

@alwayscheerful - I think that's true. And it's true the other way as well - overweight women are told pregnancy is dangerous etc etc but I know lots who have managed just fine and gone on to have healthy children. Myself included (although I'd classify myself as overweight rather than truly fat or obese. I'm a 16 with large breasts so possibly more like a 14 on top if they were gone).

Whydoesitalwaysdothis · 14/06/2019 15:07

The botox looks awful in that picture.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/06/2019 15:17

@Alwayscheerful

I think CP Mary wore the blue skirt best. She has wider hips, so is a bit curvier which works well. (Think Joan in Mad Men for "sexy secretary" look)

The best skit shape for imho is actually mid calf - either 50s style like the red Marchesa Notte or slightly fish tail like the tweed erdem. Then her narrow hips don't make her look too straight up and down.

Laiste · 14/06/2019 15:21

Do you know - i've never previously had a clue what posters were seeing when we've had ''ooooh look at the dodgy botox here'' pics. I must have botox blindness. I'm on a bloody great lap top as well!

But for the first time .... i see it !! (sounds like a film - i can't put my finger on which one). That strange flat plane of skin up from the bridge of her nose to the middle of her forehead.

No judgement. I'm just pleased i finally see what everyone has been seeing Grin

GlamGiraffe · 14/06/2019 15:27

Hood botox doesn't make you look you get it makes you look a tiny bit fresher a if it's done really well people just comment you look really well. No one should be able to tell. Top people have said it's possible for your body to become immune to it so I don't think I'd be having it when I was young I'd wait until I needed a bit more refreshing in case is become immune by the time I really needed it, especially if o was like some of these celeb addict types. One day it might not work then they'll he stuffed...Can you imagine their horror 😯

ElspethFlashman · 14/06/2019 15:34

Well I suppose the thing about all these treatments is the fear of stopping, in case you go full Dorian Grey overnight!Grin

Some people have said that Max has been looking a little refreshed lately. And omg Marie Therese of Luxembourg! She's about 65 but looks 35, lol.

Charlene of Monaco? Best not even discussed, good lord.

frugalkitty · 14/06/2019 15:40

If money was no object, the only thing I'd have done would be the non-existent cute for dark circles. But I scar badly so I'm not sure it would be worth the risk. I had plastic surgery on my ear in my teens and afterwards had awful problems with scar tissue. It's a sad state of affairs that people putting things into their skin and various body parts just to look younger/etc is becoming increasingly 'normal'

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2019 15:43

I suspect Botox is most effective as a preventative measure, to prevent deep lines forming. I have reservations though about keeping your face young and unlined at the point where the rest of your body isn't keeping up.

Laiste · 14/06/2019 15:46

frugalkitty one of my DDs (early 20s now) has exactly the same! She had surgery on her ears as a child and the skin 'over healed' - keloid scarring i believe it's called.

Apparently there's a rumour in fashion circles that Meghan is going to guest edit the September edition of UK Vogue (the most important issue of the year)

That'll be an interesting one!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/06/2019 16:14

I can believe that. Edward Enninful has been on a mission to make Vogue more diverse so that would tie in well with that.

OP posts:
frugalkitty · 14/06/2019 16:26

Laiste yes, that's it. I also had it after my BCG injection. Both times I had to have steroid injections to break up the scar tissue.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2019 16:46

I saw that too pink. Apparently she will be writing an 'opinion piece' about issues close to her heart. I'm guessing it won't be flats v heels.

SunshineCake · 14/06/2019 16:55

I don't think Donna Air married the father of Freya.
