Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

How glorious does Max look in both of those outfits?? Can't decide which I prefer - maybe the evening one. That dress with that hair and bright lippy is just perfect!!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2019 08:56

Love Max's day outfit, everything perfectly co-ordinated from top to toe. The colour is so unusual too. I'd wear that.

frugalkitty · 14/06/2019 09:08

Love the comments about Camilla looking like she's in pjs......she's living the my dream! I'd love to be able to wear pjs and a tiara, that's the kind of Duchess I'd be Grin

Ktay that's an interesting article. I don't like Gove or his wife, I always try to be nice about people but I struggle to find anything nice to say about either of them Blush

Max looked great in both outfits yesterday.

Stravapalava · 14/06/2019 09:29

Loving Max's outfits, apart from her day top & skirt yesterday. The green and the coral evening dresses were both beautiful.

queenofarles · 14/06/2019 09:33

So it was Camilla who started the Silk Pjs trend. It’s still going strong. I really like the practicality of it, Perhaps later on in life with grown up DCs and less mess , Mine would exclusively come from here

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2019 09:37

I expect Meghan would absolutely love to share adorable pics of Archie, which new Mother wouldn't?

I wouldn't, but then I'm of the pre social media generation. I don't share anything personal precisely because you open yourself to comment from strangers. I think they will continue to keep Archie to themselves for as long as possible, and why not? Sophie and Edward have done so very successfully with theirs.

She'll be heartbroken when the trolls start their inevitable criticism and nastiness.

They'll do that unfortunately as soon as the press get something to publish. I don't understand why the media doesn't just do away with the comments section completely. No-one ever says anything worth reading, it's always gruesome sycophancy or downright poison.

Ditto on SM. If you don't want unfavourable comments, don't post.

Laniakea · 14/06/2019 09:43

Silk PJs & a tiara - Camilla is living my dream Grin I love that photograph of her at the embassy with a very large glass of red!

Max often wears one glove & carries the other when she’s going to be shaking hands.

Love the Private Eye - Gove & Vile are hideous.

beanaseireann · 14/06/2019 09:49

Ktay
That was an interesting article from Private Eye.It was a really bad photo of SV.
I'm always a bit Shock that she writes of personal matters when her dh is so high profile.
But she's not the only journalist who writes of personal matters, Bryony Gordon, friend of PW, I think, due to their work for mental well being, writes very openly of her life. I'm in awe at her honesty.

Doesn't Max look great !

The colour choice of the burnt orange outfit is interesting. Aren't Max and Wax of the House of Orange ? Because of our Irish history and the place of William of Orange vs King James and the Battle of the Boyne and the Orange order marches in the North it wouldn't have been gracious to wear a full blown orange outfit so she went with subtle Smile
Or am I reading too much into it ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/06/2019 09:56

Thé pale blue Hugo Boss skirt Letizia is wearing up Thread is a princess favourite.

That «sexy secretary» look; pencilskirt and sleek blouse would look great on Kate. She’s got great legs, but I think the flippé short skirts she wears are on young on her. Her legs are better showcased in fitted midi skirts, and my fave Kate look ever; the purple silk pussycat bow blouse and Flowing black pants. Very Charlie’s Angels; 1970s

BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 09:58

Beana - I think Bryony Gordon and Sarah Vine are so far apart they're barely in the same profession. Bryony does write about Prince harry, but almost exclusively in the context of mental health (her own, and his campaigning) and her comments about him are usually about amusing anecdotes that slightly sycophantically talk about how she feels when he is around. She's brilliant and honest and I think she's a real woman and journalist to look up to. (her husband is a relatively high profile financial journalist but she is discreet).

Vine, on the other hand, makes a living from being vile and unpleasant and saying things that a huge swathe of the population want to say but feel they can't. So they love her because they get to talk about it and laugh and point in a way they usually can't in polite society. She's also completely indiscreet and feels no shame endlessly leveraging her husband's political career (although to be fair, maybe she's more discreet these days - I refuse to click on any DM stories so I haven't actually read one of her pieces in a while).

BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 10:01

Personally, I thought Leti's skirt was a smidge long. It just sort of ended at a weird point. An inch shorter would have been more flattering I feel. Possibly because it's high waisted so the skirt goes on forever with a relatively short blouse. Or possibly just because it ends at the point her legs really start to slim and the wideness looks odd. I'm not sure. It's just not quite right.

I do however, I admit, have something of an obsession with skirt lengths. Length of skirt vs jacket/blouse is a thing for me. As is where the skirt ends which can have a massive impact on whether it suits the woman wearing it and her legs. I spend a lot of time on public transport thinking, "Love, if that was two inches longer, it would look fab." or "Ooh, you should definitely lose an inch on that one...."

It was HCP and Princess Sofia's 4th wedding anniversary. One of my favourite royal wedding dresses.

This isn't really the place for this, but ... I just spotted this old article and I can tell you that as a large busted woman, these are ALL tricks I have long learnt.... here Always nice when the experts and you are in agreement!

BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 10:07

Camilla is massively into literacy and it's been one of her things since long before she married Charles I believe. Good on her.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2019 10:11

I agree about Leti's skirt. It's the length that looks worst on Meghan too. Something about hitting the calf at its widest point instead of just above. It's very technical!

BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 10:14

Yup imaginary. If you look closely at the pic, I think what you see is that the ratio of skirt to leg changes at the point at which it ends so it almost looks like the skirt is wider than higher up. Possibly because of the tightness over the knee? Either way, one measly inch off would be life changing!

beanaseireann · 14/06/2019 11:31

I think you may have misinterpreted my post.
What I was trying to say was that both Bryony and Sarah Vine both share so much of their personal lives. I'm not in the UK and so don't understand all the nuances. I certainly wasn't implying that Bryony over shares re the Royals- not at all. What she does re mental health is brilliant.
But they both write about very personal stuff. In their columns.
I couldn't be so open and honest to millions.
By the way I love a bit of bling myself, hence loving Kate's glitter shoes and Debbie Bon Bismarck's diamond ring as seen in DM article yesterday.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/06/2019 11:35

I don't mind if Sarah Vine writes about personal stuff in her column. It's the sheer vitriol that she directs towards women in the public eye that I take issue with!

OP posts:
BlingLoving · 14/06/2019 11:42

Beana - don't worry, I knew that you weren't suggesting Bryony is like Sarah. But to my mind even the vague similarity you thought they had ie that they share about their personal lives, is something I disagree with. Because Vine boasts, lies and exaggerates her life, tells stories that are inappropriate and/or indiscreet, and simultaneously treats other people (particularly women) with the kind of contempt usually only seen in period dramas from wealthy matriarchs forced to interact with a service person. Grin Grin.

I think the kind of personal journalism we see from Bryony is what Vine tells herself she's doing. But really, she's just another katie Hopkins, using her platform and her contacts to spew vile at the world and target a specific demographic for her equally vile husband.

GlamGiraffe · 14/06/2019 11:49

I reckon Kate might have had a smidge of filler in her cheeks recently. I have. I feel really sorry for the poor woman with everyone constantly going on about her weight. She's a very similar build to me, I'm 5'9" and a size 6-8. It's through no particular intention, just my food preferences, I love fruit and veg and would have that over a plate of chips or pizza any day. Its just a shape thing. Peopke are constantly saying oh youre so thin, eat mor and go uou eat.its horrible. Especially when the world is scrutinizing you. If you're very tall it's much more pronounced. My face looked thin because of it. I had a really tiny bit of filler in my cheeks a year ago and looked radically different. I think she's had the same. It's not noticeable it that tastes the edge off. Anyone else noticed?
Not sure if like to eat cakes in a random persons house, they might let their cat lick the icing before your arrival😂things like that terrify me😬
