....ok, off the back of seeing it recommended here for plumped-up, dewy morning skin, I am volunteering myself as Guinea Pig...

I'll report back.

I've ordered a Vaseline tub and will report back on results!

This looks really promising and even if it doesn't work on the face hopefully it'll be super for body skin.

Chickydoo · 09/06/2019 22:54

I am using the Egyptian magic which is very similar to vaseline. Had a pot & wanted to use it up. It does the job & skin feels great

Daisypie · 09/06/2019 23:01

Gave this a go last night. I'm 58 and always have had oily skin. Felt so wrong slathering it on. Skin feels softer today - I'll keep it up for a few days and see how I go. Love the price point!

isthismylifenow · 10/06/2019 07:20

I am checking back in again after a few days.

Skin is definitely more plump generally. Still some under eye bags which seem a bit more pronounced, but then I did have a really stressful week last week so it could be due to that.

I dont really fare well with oil on my skin long term generally, using coconut oil ended up a disaster as i think i absorb the oil and it seems to make me very oily everywhere else ie hair. So I am really hoping this doesnt make me look like an oil slick in a week or so.

BusterGonad · 10/06/2019 07:41

isthismylifenow I used coconut oil the other day and my eyes were puffy and full of eczema, I don't rate it at all, Vaseline has never done this to me even though it's petroleum.

LoafofSellotape · 10/06/2019 07:55

You shouldn't use coconut oil as a moisturiser, it's not suitable, only as a cleanser that's washed off.

similarminimer · 10/06/2019 08:18

Everyone needs to do one eye only for 2 weeks and then post the photographic results to see if we can tell which eye

PregnantOnPurpose · 10/06/2019 08:19

Just use a heavy night moisturiser, or a light one if your skin is naturally oily.

BusterGonad · 10/06/2019 08:32

LoafofSellotape I never knew this, but sure as hell do now! 😂

edgeofheaven · 10/06/2019 08:41

I’ve been dealing with dry tight skin on my cheeks for almost a year. Tried Vaseline from this thread and my skin hasn’t looked or felt better in ages.

Basically have discovered I need the Vaseline as the final barrier on top of my night cream to ensure my skin absorbs the moisture.

sandandc · 10/06/2019 08:53

I grew up doing this then became aware of environmental issues stopped. During my 20s tried many different things many suggested in this thread. I use a mix of shea butter and olive oil from head to toe now...but every so often when my skin is super dry I do whip out the Vaseline and it never fails...
Vaseline like Carbs and Sugar...so bad but so good Wink

dragonflyflew · 10/06/2019 09:01

I used to do this as a youngster. Pretty sure it was a popular beauty tip in the 80s and early 90s. I always had beautiful skin.
I haven’t done it for years and my skin is not beautiful anymore but I’m nearly 47.
Could it be coincidence? Grin

thinkfast · 10/06/2019 09:26

I tried this on my very dry forehead last night.

This morning my forehead is covered in very itchy red flaky blotches. Taking all my will power not to scratch.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 10/06/2019 10:05

Busy week at work ahead so a bit scared of trying it on my face love cats but wouldn't like whiskers myself but I tried a bit on the tops of my hands last night, over my handcream but can't see any difference today. Will keep it up for the next week though to give it a chance.

PregnantOnPurpose · 10/06/2019 12:20

I used to suffer with very tight, red, blotchy skin, it was so tight it was itchy and would crack and flake, it was quite sore especially in the winter. After a shower was at its worst, but also in the mornings.

I started moisturising every single day without fail, and I stopped washing my face in the mornings, only when I had a shower with no fragrance face wash, no soap!
Since I've been doing that and being religious with moisturising at least every night, if not every morning and before I out makeup on. My skin has never been so clear and soft, if I forget to moisturise for a day or two I'm ok, but if I run out and go a few days its started getting tight and horrible again. Definitely reccomend moisturiser but it only works if you use it..

LoafofSellotape · 10/06/2019 12:36

thinkfast I'd wash it off and use some hydro cortisone cream . Sounds like it doesn't suit you

OldAndWornOut · 10/06/2019 20:28

Well, I think I'm more spotty since using the Vaseline.
Sad

Sarcelle · 10/06/2019 21:13

I have a massive spot. I don't get them normally. Think I will stop.

Soola · 10/06/2019 21:16

Sometimes using new products will provoke a purge.

GummyGoddess · 10/06/2019 21:37

I shall post a picture at the weekend. I took a photo of one of my eyes for a different thread a few weeks ago so I have a very good before picture.

I've basically covered my entire face apart from my cheeks in vaseline daily and DC1 has told me that I am all soft, as he's only 2 he has no concept of flattery yet so it must be the truth.

OldAndWornOut · 10/06/2019 23:20

Does anyone think its worth persevering through the pimples?
They're quite soggy, Vaseliney ones.

Haffiana · 17/06/2019 11:02

Bumping this, as inspired by this thread I have been using Vaseline on my face for the last couple of weeks, either on its own or over my usual moisturiser.

OK, I am in mid to late 50s, and for the last couple of years I have completely stopped using skin care products on my face and only wash with bar soap at night and then moisturise with a bog standard moisturiser. Occasionally I use an oily eye make up remover before the soap if I have been using certain eye make up products that need it, but otherwise just soap.

Since going onto this regime my skin has been far, far better than at any point in my life. This is the base line on which I tried the Vaseline. I applied it all over except for upper forehead. I don't wash my face again the following morning although I usually do get it thoroughly wet.

I really like it! My skin feels really soft, and the odd dry patch that I would get around my mouth and jawline have vanished. My wrinkles are fairly few and far between although I most certainly have them at my age, and this hasn't changed.

What I have noticed is that my foundation - if I use one at all which I only do perhaps one day in three - goes on far better and I have none of those rough scales appearing in my nose crease etc. I use Mac Face & Body for reference.

It makes me really wonder about all the beauty shizz that we get sucked into. All this pore-blocking, 'comedogenic' tripe that we take as gospel - I am a scientist by training AND I even had my own toiletries company at one time, and despite all the evidence I still bought into it!!

I really wonder how many skin issues are caused by the exact same products that we use to try to cure them...

Deliheaven · 17/06/2019 11:10

I’ve been putting it round my eyes at night, looks good but I think my eyes feel heavier the next day as a result. Anyone else had this?

Sarcelle · 17/06/2019 17:41

I have been using around eyes since Thread started, on top of using eye gel. The undereye area is smoother, even when I have had a bad night's sleep the area does not seem as parched. I don't notice any heaviness the next morning.

OldAndWornOut · 17/06/2019 22:29

I've started putting it around the stems of my plants to deter earwigs, so its not all bad.
