....ok, off the back of seeing it recommended here for plumped-up, dewy morning skin, I am volunteering myself as Guinea Pig...

I'll report back.

Does anyone know if papaw ointment would do the same? It's the same consistency as Vaseline?

MrsMaryMooFace · 03/06/2019 18:29

Actually, it's made from petroleum jelly so in answer to my own question, yes 😂

ISmellBabies · 03/06/2019 18:35

The amount of shit I buy because mumsnet told me too is fucking ridiculous. And yet, off I go to buy some vaseline. At least this one is cheap.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 03/06/2019 18:39

Baaaa one jar of baby powder Vaseline ordered from Amazon 🐑🐑🐑

missfliss · 03/06/2019 19:23

I hope this thread doesn't end up on the Daily Fail

So i've learned a new word (occlusive!), and that my favourite Egyptian magic and EA8hr are both this. I can't wait to try applying them after moisturiser!

ilovesocks · 04/06/2019 06:29

I decided to do this when I saw the OP. I did it last night, used a glycolic acid cotton pad to remove my make up, let my skin dry then rubbed Vaseline everywhere, nose, forehead etc. Well, my skin looks bloody great this morning! I'm excited to get to the weekend and see what I look like. My forehead wrinkles are much less obvious too.

My skin is combination, but I suffer quite badly with dry bits and have eczema, skincare is always a bit of a pain for me.

Fillypants · 04/06/2019 06:41

Deadringer 😂

missfliss · 04/06/2019 07:13

Day #2 My fine lines softened too - face just not as creased and a feels plump and springy.

Oh it carries on like this Vaseline will be my beauty discovery of 2019!

Question for the crowd: what's best to use for evening skin tone ? I have fair, freckly skin that's showing uneven tone and pigmentation

Does the hairy face thing not put you off?

OnlineAlienator · 04/06/2019 07:24

It's maybe a no-no if you have greasy skin, but i have realllly dry skin and it happily sucks up vaseline without getting spotty. Apparently marilyn monroe had really dry skin and vaselined her face too. My skin also gets chapped easily and as i work outdoors in extreme weather sometimes a layer in a strip over my nose and cheekbones stops the chapping.

I sometimes use lanolin too, that nipple stuff.

LoafofSellotape · 04/06/2019 07:27

If it seriously encouraged hair growth turn bald men would be using it!

MrsMaryMooFace · 04/06/2019 07:32

I tried this last night too, applied retinol serum then eye cream to my eyes and before they soaked in, put a thin layer of papaw ointment over.
By this morning all the products had totally sunk in, no greasiness Smile

fishonabicycle · 04/06/2019 07:41

I use vaseline fairly often and don't have a hairy face!

fishonabicycle · 04/06/2019 07:41

No greasy pillow either (but I do put it on about 7/8 pm as that is when I wash my face.

ilovesocks · 04/06/2019 08:06

@missfliss I use effaclar duo

Milicentbystander72 · 04/06/2019 08:34

I've used Vaseline around my eyes since I was a young 20 something. I'm 47 now. I have lots other issues but have no crows feet!

And yes, I started doing it when I saw Joanna Lumley talk about it as her beauty top on This Morning with Judy and Richard back in the 90's.

I might start using it on more if my face now!

fedup21 · 04/06/2019 08:43

I thought Joanna lumley used astral!

Milicentbystander72 · 04/06/2019 08:47

She may well do, but this one a beauty tip that she used Vaseline around her eyes 🤷🏻‍♀️

Greenglassteacup · 04/06/2019 08:47

Eek, Vaseline will give you a hairy face

BusterGonad · 04/06/2019 09:07

I've recently my been using Bepanthen nappy cream around my eyes and lips recently due to a severe flare up of dry sore skin. It's amazing and my eye wrinkles look softer!

FloofyDoof · 04/06/2019 09:08

I definitely don't have any increase in face fuzz, and my eyelashes are, unfortunately, as stubby as ever.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/06/2019 09:09

I thought it was lanolin that gives you a hairy face.

Happy to be corrected though.

stayfit · 04/06/2019 09:38

Vaseline is out of stock in boots now! :)

EatenByDinosaurs · 04/06/2019 09:43

I don't have any increase in hair growth either, and I really slather it on and have been doing so for months. It would have been nice if it helped my rather sparse brows.

@missfliss have you tried a moisturiser with niacinamide in? Otherwise The Inkey List and I think The Ordinary so niacinamide, its brilliant for evening skin tone and fading scarring.
