I always think Melanie must be wishing and wishing for this to be over. In her shoes I’d be constantly on red alert as so many people despise the bloke she’s standing next to. Utterly terrifying.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/06/2019 10:39

He was always vile though, his previous wives have said as much. She married him out of her own free will.

The Ireland I grew up in certainly had and still does , have a class system.
It's different from the English one but exists.

There are rich and poor like everywhere but we do not have a class system. People look down on the part of society who wear pyjamas in public and/or live in areas of high crime.

Anyway sorry to derail the thread but that was in reply to the previous thread.

Eugenie’s dress was really lovely. Her skin must not be that blue/white type skin when yellow suits her so well. Yet with her hair , I assumed it must be the palest of pale.

It certainly looks like a Fergie perhaps never left the fold other than ‘officially’.

Today is the anniversary of HM's coronation and BP posted this photo on Instagram. I don't know who the young men in the background are but the ears on the one behind the DoE make me think he might be the Duke of Kent?

Melania was a very eager and vocal 'birther' claiming that Obama faked his birth certificate. This put the Obama family in danger from the nutters whipped up by these claims.

SlipperOrchid · 02/06/2019 10:44

I read on another thread that Melania lives in NY with her personal trainer. I assume she has been paid a lot of money not to divorce him until after his presidency runs out. I dislike him but know low wage people living in America who think he is the best ever. Unfathomable.

SenecaFalls · 02/06/2019 11:39

Melania doesn't live in New York. She stayed in NY the first few months of her husband's term so her son Barron could finish the school year, then she and her son moved to DC. He attends a local school (not boarding as someone on an earlier thread suggested); I'm sure she wouldn't live in NY when her son lives in Washington.

Checking in for a royal week!

Also to pp Vogue Williams would be solidly nouveau riche.

DevonUkelele · 02/06/2019 12:15

Young Charles and Anne look a bit WTF? in that pic @Queen. And the young chap behind HMQ has the look of Phil, at least. Not sure who any of them really are though. The DOE is/was rather dashing. Grin

IHeartArya · 02/06/2019 12:24

I can’t see a photo?

SlipperOrchid · 02/06/2019 12:26

That is interesting Seneca. The other thread also said Barton is autistic which was the reason they remain out of the public eye. Probably heresay too then.

SenecaFalls · 02/06/2019 12:33

He's 13; the Obama girls and Chelsea Clinton weren't in the public eye much at that age either. He has attended public events for children, like the White House Easter Egg Roll, and he recently went to Alabama with his parents in the wake of severe tornado damage. He's out and about as much as other fairly recent presidential children of similar age.

Paradyning · 02/06/2019 12:58

The other thread was me! I said it t'was in t'internet. So take with a huge pinch of salt. (I actually believe it)

JohnandMary · 02/06/2019 13:47

I thought of you lot today. I am currently in a small town in Western Australia, 3 hours inland from Perth, population 187. I went to a market today and this was for sale. Didn’t buy it, but took a photo for you (much to the bemusement of my friends ;) )

Given KM's penchant for literal dressing, I wonder will we see her in something like this star-spangled number?

Kate looks great in that color, but it might spark a bit of speculation as blue is the color associated with the Democratic Party.

Blue states are solidly Democratic; red states are Republican. I live in a swing state, sometimes known as a purple state.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 02/06/2019 14:11

I thought exactly the same about Sophie's tiara, Claire's Accessories and it doesn't seem to be sitting properly.

Melania is a strange one, it's hard to read her. She looks hard as nails but that may just be the Botox.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 02/06/2019 14:12

I remember that book, @JohnandMary!

Paradyning · 02/06/2019 14:20

Sophie's wedding Tiara was made up of parts of Victoria's circlet. That's why it looks a bit odd.

Spudlet · 02/06/2019 14:33

Seneca I would love Kate to rock up in a shade-casting blue dress!

Ugh, he made creepy remarks about that topless paparazzi shot as well as being creepy about Diana. I don't know how any of them will manage to smile and play nicely, although I've no doubt they will. I can't imagine anyone on this side of the Atlantic is looking forward to it though - well, Johnson and Farage aside, who no doubt can't wait to kiss up to the rancid satsuma. Bleurgh.

queenofarles · 02/06/2019 14:39

But does Melania really speaks 6 languages? She barely speaks proper English, maybe just basic greetings.
I don’t think she is interested in pursuing First Lady duties, she was very vocal during the campaign about addressing cyber bullying, really funny concosering her H is a big Twitter bully.

latedecember1963 · 02/06/2019 14:50

I had that book, JohnandMary. I also remember watching the ITV interviews that the book was based on. I seem to recall Charles and Diana saying all the rumours about difficulties in their marriage were all idle speculation. I was watching with college friends in our student house and we all desparately wanted it to be true as Diana just seemed so lovely and, at their wedding, their marriage was described as the stuff of fairy tales.

itswinetime · 02/06/2019 14:51

So is anyone else hoping Kate borrows this for the state banquet?? Wink

SlipperOrchid · 02/06/2019 14:52

Not interested in First Lafy duties is an understatement. She is actively uninvolved. Are they really in a marriage? Regardless of how rich he is, would anyone stay with someone accused of all sorts? She must be as bad as him.
