I have other reasons not to like her which would apply irrespective of heritage.

You know her then. So exciting to finally read about someone who knows her! Did you first meet her before or since she married into the RF?

UrsulaPandress · 07/06/2019 17:47

Did Tiaragate actually happen?

Did Tiaragate actually happen?

Hopefully @Myimaginarycathasfleas
was present and will be able to tell us exactly what was said 👍

@Wildorchidz see above!Grin

I’d put money on Tiaragate being a case of 2 and 2 making 5.

Everyone knew Eugenie and Jack were getting married so I’d bet it was a case that the Queen either knew her granddaughter liked that tiara or her fave colour is green or whatever - the emerald one was earmarked.

Then a simple “the Queen gave MM a choice of tiara, but not the emerald” was twisted into MM demanding a specific one.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 18:02

The thing about Tiaragate is that Eugenie's tiara wouldn't have gone with Meghan's veil anywhere near as well as the one she wore did! So I find the story quite hard to believe. Also if Meghan was given a choice of tiaras by HM then why put an emerald one there at all if it was off limits.

I suspect that if it happened then the story has been twisted beyond recognition. Much like how "Kate in tears at Charlotte's dress fitting" became "Meghan made Kate cry" rather than the possibility that an immediately post-partum woman might be moved to tears at the sight of her daughter in a lovely bridesmaids dress!

I think someone knew that the emerald one wasn’t included in the choices for Meghan and made assumptions as to why.

Which is random when you think about it as the emerald one belonged to Mrs Greville whereas the one Meghan wore was Queen Mary’s so if the Queen did dislike Meghan (which to me she doesn’t at all) surely she’d have preferred her to wear Mrs G’s tiara rather than her Granny’s!

Definitely a two plus two equalling five for me.

queenofarles · 07/06/2019 18:07

About the Tiara, maybe MM was shown the entire collection on a catalogue or something and said I want this, then they said, “ sorry you can’t”.”But Harry said I can choose what tiara I like, and I really like this one.” This sounds like a possible explanation.

spellingtest · 07/06/2019 18:22

English national dress - for a man - tweed and plus fours?

Twin set and pearls for the ladies?

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 18:24

Of course the other possible explanation is that it never happened at all!

Maybe if you're from the Home Counties @spellingtest. In other parts of the country it might be mini-skirt, high heels and boob tube with no coat on a freezing night!

I personally wouldn’t disregard anything.

If she specifically asked for the emerald tiara, or told Charlotte off for fidgeting at the dress fittings Then i don’t see why the media would make this up , it doesn’t add up, there is a whole story and we are just being drip fed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

She was an actress, so she is used to being persistent at getting what she wants, and MM seems like someone who really is savvy and hardworking at getting what she wants.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/06/2019 18:45

I don't mind my curls most of the time but I never look polished. When I straighten it it frizzes and / or curls as soon as there is any damp or humidity or if I get hot. I was even told by a recruitment consultant years ago that curly hair wasn't suitable for an interview!

I thought the supposed banned tiara was a different emerald one that had Russian jewels of uncertain origin? But more likely story is that Eugenie had always said she wanted to wear an emerald one and so Meghan was steered away from it.

Fergie was lambasted everywhere. Her Spitting Image puppet was also quite harsh I seem to remember.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 18:46

The palace actually commented on the dress fitting story to say it never happened. Also "Kate in tears" could mean anything, it doesn't mean Meghan made her cry!

And the press make up stories all the time! There was some guff about H&M not inviting Pippa Middleton to their wedding as Meghan was "jealous", yet come their wedding day and the entire
Middleton clan was in attendance.

I think It’s Richard Kay who mentioned the dress fitting and tiara. I don’t think he made them up, maybe he was told to mention them,

I thought the story originated in the Sun? He's always been a Mail man.

Queen the palace also said MM knew nothing about the Gayle interviews , so hard to believe when the makeup artist frequently visits and Gayle herself was there a few times.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 18:55

It's easy to forget Joachim is the younger brother as he looks much older than CPF, who's retained a perennially boyish look.
