I'm growing it in from shaving it,I have no bleach left in it now.
It looks different colours depending on the light.

LovelyHairy, I really would like to grow mine but I'm useless at long hair, but I'm going to try and fail
I saw a woman on Friday whose hair I think mine would look like longer. Her top bit was longer and heavier and the same length but her sides were still over her ears and the back was cropped.
Her hair was much lighter around her face , gradually getting darker towards the back.
It looked very cool..
I'm like a mad woman staring at peoples grey or white hair nowadays Grin

That was an interesting read thanks for the link.
I post a photo later when its not sticking straight up Grin.
I can't get over how different the colour looks depending on the light.

@PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair
Era - how long is yours now?
I left my hair short until the start of this year and I'm now in the process of growing it out. I really want it long enough so I can have a little old lady bun, perhaps to stick pencils through it.
It is currently slightly longer than your 'grow out style', so looks like a short bob/long pixie. Nearly at chin length.

These were taken in front of the bathroom window, hanging over the bath Hmm.

Hello me again Smile
I'm always keen to post on these threads as a born again grey advocate. I also agree that a good ( aka intentional) cut is essential for grey to look its best. I grew mine out two years ago and haven't looked back!

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 05/06/2019 11:25

Hair update for those vaguely interested- I seem to have a lot of warm brown mixed in with the white. This is going to be interesting....

On plus side I am at the puff mushroom stage of the grow out! Grin

One just posted on the thread about make up suddenly aging you. I've noticed this since going grey.
I'm presuming the colour of my hair is more flattering to my skin tone.
I'm going to try a lighter touch. I've worn makeup all my life, I'm very fond of it 😂

I reshaved mine back to a No 2 again last night, now 99% of the red is gone, just a tinge at the ends of some so I'll leave it to grow out now.

I am quite enjoying it, it feels so soft.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 09/06/2019 19:55

Update ..... colour is nothing like I thought it would be!!!!

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 09/06/2019 19:58

That is the back...

Sack - it does feel soft doesn’t it?

This is very timely - a friend has spent most of the weekend trying to persuade me to drop the blonde highlights regime etc that my hairdresser has spent the past few years evolving with me, to go natural.

I’m edging that way but not quite there yet. My hair used to be dark brown, almost black - which I loved, never wanted to be another colour , was happy with the pepper and salt. But then it started to go grey in such uneven patches that I began to have lowlights, to even things out and then eventually this dark blonde mix effect, some lights, some natural, which I have do like and adapted my clothing colours to suit.

But the percentage of grey/white is growing and I am wondering now at what point I can drop the processing - I think it would still look too much like a badger with a problem atm .

I would not choose to shave - it really would not suit me, though it looks fabulous on others. I could to manage grow out quite happily by putting it up as I wear it long enough.

My DH is very pro me going grey, but he uses the example of my SIL who had very different hair, thick and coarse ( in a good, holds a style way) which went from very dark with even pepper and salt for ages, then a dark silver in a bob then the purest white in a pixie cut. Ive talked to her and no dye or highlights were ever involved . Looks wonderful but she is very stylish all together .

Will have a chat with my hairdresser this week as have an appointment and see what she thinks ( also long time trusted friend so would not be influenced by the money aspect !)

Daisydaisychain · 09/06/2019 22:20

Love the pics on this thread. How do you all improve the texture of grey hair? I'm about 10 to 20 percent grey I think, and started dying mine because the greys were sticking out and looked frizzy. I tried frizz ease serum and oils but they still stuck out.

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 09/06/2019 22:26

Loving this thread - I fully intend to go grey when the time comes! However, so far I seem to have no grey hairs at all Confused this surprises me as I'm in my late 30s; however I am also ginger. Does that make a difference, does anyone know?

Daisydaisychain · 09/06/2019 22:37

Contessals: Grey is a mix of white and brown - the individual hairs go white, not grey. That's why red hair often appears to fade to white rather than go grey

sackrifice · 09/06/2019 22:46

It is so lovely and soft.

Herefortheduration · 09/06/2019 22:49

I've recently gone grey, I love it and gage had loads of compliments.

I found it was going a little dull and grassy so now I use either "Touch of Silver" or "Fudge" shampoo and it's really brightened it up,

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 14/06/2019 17:11

Update- it keeps changing so I am really not sure what the final result will be....

@PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair The colours are so lovely.

I’m having ‘length’ anxiety at the mo (to go with my normal Anxiety.) Very tempted to get the back cropped/shaved again, but I know I’d kick myself. I’ve been looking at my 2015 hair and missing the length, even though I moaned about it. A lot. I think maybe I’m trying for a long bob?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 15/06/2019 17:50

Thanks Doctor- that's very kind.

I am having a hair funk sort of day and feel it looks dingy. Really want to dye over it but am powering through that feeling today.

has anyone else who has done this had days where they question their choice and don't really like it?
