I went for it on the basis of that Head Shave thread linked above when i was age 55. All the hair colour has grown out now and i love my natural colour. It is a silvery blonde. Will try to take a pic.

I’ve not coloured my hair for about 8 years now. This picture was taken just before Christmas last year. I don’t often blow dry my hair, but when I do I often get asked if I’ve had highlights done.

Thank you PaulHollywood.

My hair prior to going grey, I had quite a lot of grey at 17, was a really dark ash brown. My passport picture has me with short dyed dark brown hair, it can't be any different from reality.

UCOinanOCG · 23/05/2019 16:11

Your hair is lovely Genuine.

UCO and Genuine both of you have beautiful colour hair, shiny & healthy too. I always smirk when I hear people say that grey hair can't be shiny.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 23/05/2019 16:15

This is today with airdried and no product

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 23/05/2019 18:10

chop would you say yours is a warm toned grey? If so what colours work for you now?

LOVE the colour and style.

ChopOrNot · 23/05/2019 19:08

Paul I am useless at defining colour -but I don't think it is particularly "warm" - especially the whiter streaks at the front.

What I have found once I ditched the dye that I have had to change my wardrobe.

My hair dye was always "warm" and I used to look best with warm colours - corals/salmons/orangy pinks. I think I needed the warm wardrobe to balance the warm in the dye.

Since going natural I look awful in anything warm/orangy. Really awful so that even I can see it looks crap. Now I look fabulous in real bright/cold jewels. So bright blue, navy, purple, pale grey, bright cerise (blue-y not orange) and the pale turquoise I am wearing in that photo.

I think it (the grey hair) ties in better with my eyes (blue) and skin (very pale/pinky - no hint of olive) so everything just fits together better than before.

Another pic to show the blue I mean.

I did it. I went grey.

Look at your lovely eyes!
I don't think I can wear grey atm, I used to wear a lot.
Look really good in black again and I'm wearing loads of navy. I also suit jewel colours I'm partial to green.

I'm loving the pics people have uploaded. You all have beautiful hair.

I'm late 30s and have been colouring over my greys for years , I decided recently that I would stop and let my hair do it's thing. These photos have encouraged me to continue.

gotmychocolateimgood · 23/05/2019 20:13

There's a mum at the school gate who has gorgeous silvery hair. I'm aiming to look like her when I take the plunge! You look fab too OP.

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 23/05/2019 20:18

I've done it too, not coloured since March 18 and braved growing it out. Have six inches of soft, silvery hair and about 3 inches brown left. So liberated finally at 56. Haven't bought anything new to wear yet, waiting till I'm all natural to see what suits best.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 23/05/2019 20:23

Wow OP love the shade you have! What colour was your hair naturally before you went grey? I’d love a kind of cool ashy grey but I’m brunette so I imagine I’d be a darker grey?

Anyway, I turn 30 this year and have a few greys starting so am approaching this phase... any tips for not mucking things up? I like the grey look, but the inbetween look...?? I have no experience dying hair so am clueless.

PeoniesarePink · 23/05/2019 20:27

I'm on way there!! I made the terrible mistake of trying to hide my grey with blonde highlights and a warm brown all over colour. Turns out that my actual hair is a cool dark brown, almost black and the grey is a lovely platinum silver. I've got about 3/4" of roots and god awful blonde scorched ends but have gone from long to just above shoulder height to minimise it. I can't wait to be grey all over. There are some gorgeous photos above Flowers

doctorboo · 23/05/2019 20:35

I took these today. It was super sunny in the sunglasses pic and the other just now indoors.
