Here we go again Smile

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/05/2019 20:33

The Duchess of Kent suffered badly with depression. That must take its toll.

SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea · 20/05/2019 20:35

I love the extra photos we got of the Cambridge DC.

I hate erdem dresses and don't think Kate suits large patterns. Sophie's dress was really nice - I wish I had a royal budget to get one!

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2019 20:35

She has, she's said she's struggled with it since the 1960s when she had a stillborn child and also a termination when she contracted measles (or was it chicken pox?) in pregnancy.

The DoK that is.

Yes I heard she miscarried her 4th child.
She lives separately from her husband; or did for a while. Became a Roman Catholic ( interestingly both of her sons married Catholics).
She also used to teach music and call herself Mrs Kent.
Such a lovely person.

Daisypie · 20/05/2019 20:36

Loved the videos and photos of the Cambridge's in the garden. Hate all the Erdem and want Sophie's green dress.

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 20:36

The duchess of Kent is late 80's isn't she I think with the queen always looking quite healthy for age I think we forgot not everyone ages as well. At least I hope it's that not something worse.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/05/2019 20:38

I'll never forget her comforting the tennis player at Wimbledon too, she seems genuinely warm and loving.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 20:38

Princess Alexandra is 80. Here she is at Chelsea.
I think The DofK May be suffering from something more than just old age. She appears to be somewhat disoriented in recent photos.

TyraAllen · 20/05/2019 20:40

Curly said the DofK is 85 in the other thread, so I happily defer to her knowledge. She's always lovely at Wimbledon, although I expect Kate to take over when the Duchess can no longer do it, she seems to genuinely enjoy Wimbledon every year (as do I!).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 20:42

Yes it was Jana Novotna ( who sadly died a couple of years ago)
The duchess spoke about it in an interview

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 20:42

Didn't someone tell a story on one of the threads about the duchess of Kent and Wimbledon? She won't go anymore after they wouldn't let her bring a child or something?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/05/2019 20:44

The Duke of Kent is doggedly hanging on to Wimbledon.

Oh yes - Jana Novotna - such a sad story.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2019 20:44

That's right @itswinetime, she wanted to take the son of a murdered head teacher (Philip Lawrence?) and was told he couldn't sit with her in the royal box as he wasn't a member.

OP posts:
TyraAllen · 20/05/2019 20:46

Yes itswinetime although she denied she was boycotting it and she's been there since it was claimed.

Notmyrealname855 · 20/05/2019 20:47

Duchess of Kent sounds quite amazing Star

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 20:48

Yes that's it lots of respect to her for that especially as it is obviously something she was really passionate about! I like to think the Duke is holding on to the patronage a little bit as payback but then he probably isn't as petty as I woulda be.

frugalkitty · 20/05/2019 21:00

Checking in, thanks for the new thread queen

UrsulaPandress · 20/05/2019 21:00

Floella Benjamin is 70. Looks well.

Gooseysgirl · 20/05/2019 21:28

Thanks queen 💐👑

pinkground202 · 20/05/2019 21:49

Dd Met Charles and Camilla today! She was at an event about conservation and the environment representing her school, we had no idea C and C would be there. She said they were very friendly and chatty. She knew I'd be very excited about it having recently unearthed all my Diana books from the attic, Luckily she didn't mention that to C and C!

My Grandparents Met Charles at a garden party at the ambassador's residence about 30 years ago. Those events were very hush hush with massive security back then, so nice that they can come here under more relaxed circumstances now.

Daisypie · 20/05/2019 21:50

How lovely for your DD, pink ground.

Haggisfish · 20/05/2019 21:51

How exciting! I loved the culottes look.
