Glad teeth are healthy and no doubt super shiny today @laska 😬
Yes I thought perfect bride beach wedding dress too...maybe I can persuade DH to have one of those “renewing vows” ceremonies (tbh I bit cringey) to justify it? 😂

dontcallmelen · 22/05/2019 11:39

Soy if you get the Miss Havisham dress, I have a beautiful hat that I wore for dd’s wedding, just in case you needed a witness😂

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 11:42

@Len I’ll hold you to that 😂
Seriously I want it! 😢 Grin but no offence to those that renew vows for whatever reason I can’t ever see DH and I going down that particular rabbit hole specially given our non illustrious wedding past! Wink

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 11:44

Maybe I could dye it turquoise or fuschia?

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 11:44

Desperate to justify now as you can clearly tell...Wink

NotAnActualSheep · 22/05/2019 11:48

Oh no, no, no soy! It isn't the dress - I love the dress too..it is my pale/ grey complexion combined with the dress that would give it the Miss H air Grin. Anyway, white lacy dresses seem really "in" this season - they seem to be everywhere so you would be very on trend just don't wear it to any weddings unless its your own Also looking forward to seeing the broderie top - it is so pretty. Ouch on the painting £££...these things are so expensive, but yes, definitely need doing! But how exciting that you are preparing to sell and downsize. Always a bit Sad to be moving away from one part of your life that has had so many memories, though (I had a mini breakdown when my parents sold the family home i basically grew up in to move up north, and I wasn't even living there at the time!)

miffy - so glad you got the monaco trousers in the end! I thought there would probably be returns somewhere...

justi - oooh, which trainers did you get? Glad it is cooling down enough to think of jumpers too!

laska - yay to strong, clean teeth... Are you manning a polling station tomorrow, or are you campaigning outside?! I must say, i love the "traditions" of polling day - all the gloved hands pointing the way, and the tiny little pencils... i would quite like to volunteer for a count at some point too - though I can't say I'm at my most accurate in the wee small hours. my most exciting poll was when I was first in the queue in the morning (I used to be keen and go swimming before work (well - uni then), so I left the house at stupid o'clock) and I had to validate that the box was empty and seal it... Im an election geek as well as a eurovision one, i think.

NotAnActualSheep · 22/05/2019 12:00

Ooooh - DH has just found out that his promotion has gone through, so I think we'll be having Wine tonight too... One of those jumps with not much more money, but a more prestigious job title, and the power to wear sillier clothes at formal events...

I'm expecting the hush stuff i ordered yesterday to come today - and the brand alley order tomorrow (when i'll be out all day too - but at a conference rather than anything fun). The Aurora order has been shipped too, which is impressively quick.

It was lovely here earlier, but has now gone rather grey. I decided to christen the blue santana, and i'm wearing it with the bright green V neck vest and striped linen boyfriend jumper - so I'm very hush-y. Bit chilly, though...I always do that...

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 12:03

@not thanks for the enabling on white lacy dress. I may order to scratch the itch and return again. I’m olive skinned and tan easily so it would look good for my trips to Spain, which is the only place I’d wear it tbh as it’s got the Ibiza vibe. Tbh I think it needs a much younger wearer to realise its full fabulousness potential (and deffo no wedding guest outfit. The bride would be apoplectic!).
It’s sad as we’ll be selling our family home of the last 25 years. So many happy memories! But they will live on with us and it IS time to move on to the next lot of adventures. I’m all nostalgic for it already, plus this next few months/year will probably be the last time all 4 of us live together as a family unit. Boys don’t want to be in Spain where our main home will be and the beach shack is too tiny for 4 full grown adults full time, only suitable for occasional overnight visitors and will become our only pied a terre in GB.
Brexshite has hastened my resolve btw.
I’m so concerned about what that despicable Farage person is doing to the people in this country and the elections this week seeing his racist hateful party surge ahead giving those in power full justification to go ahead with a no deal Brexit.
I fear for my children’s future if that were to happen.

Please even if you believe in Leave and someone is reading this thread don’t vote for that hypocritical perverse excuse for a politician!

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 12:05

Sorry this is strictly S&B thread and a safe refuge from the political madness but one more time #bollockstobrexit!

Laska2Meryls · 22/05/2019 12:06

Yup running one, the sealing of the box can be quite a drama ( I always feel a bit like the magician who says look no rabbit in here! ) but usually it's just us workers to witness it nowadays it's only a candidate or poll official who can ask to otherwise. We set up at 6am open at 7 (and ill leave home at just after 5 as it's quite a way crosscountry to mine) and its usually midnight when I get home( and we are not allowed outside all day) .. you need to take remember plenty of drinks and food ! So I'd you are voting tomorrow, be extra nice to your poll station staff Smile

Laska2Meryls · 22/05/2019 12:06

I'm not allowed to comment as I'm Election Purdah ( yes really)

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 12:12

Bravo laska doing your civic duty!
I already said it for you Wink

twosoups1972 · 22/05/2019 12:57

Happy birthday nink

Just catching up in my lunch hour. I’m Hush-ing it today, wearing red Susannah dress with denim jacket over it. But I’m not feeling the love and not sure why. And I’ve cut the label out now.

twosoups1972 · 22/05/2019 12:59

Oh, and noticed some nice things in M&S today of all places. Some pretty tops and some nice dresses.

Laska2Meryls · 22/05/2019 13:32

🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 I have joined the Kimono crew!! Fair Trade Cambodia from our local Arts center which supports ft enterprises ( I just went in for a card) .. No mirror here in office but here is the pattern. I'll model it later. Thought it would look good over the navy Janelle .. was only £26 and no fabric label so I suspect polyester, but it hangs like silk and whatever, is nice anyway

Laska2Meryls · 22/05/2019 13:33

Supposedly they are made from offcuts so no two the same..

SoyYo · 22/05/2019 14:00

Lovely pattern @laska!
Quick update before I dive into my afternoon work calls.
BA Hush bargains arrived keeping it all though I made a mistake thinking the v neck t was orange (described) instead of red which I already have Blush but never mind it’ll be useful and was very cheap.
Modelled with g/f Chinos which I love! So glad I grabbed!
Then the Broderie top which is going back sadly...love the broderie but does nought for my shape Sad
And the stripy jumper which I think you have @laska (BA) and bought as super cheap to go with the green stripe wide trousers.
Pleased with this little bargainous haul Smile

@Soy - the weather is definitely cooling down here in Queensland, although we have our own version of Farage/Trump just voted in for the next three years, so I want out. Temperature-wise it is about 23'C during the daytime which is almost civilised. It won't get much colder than this during the daytime, but it will chill down at night later on in the year - the houses here are usually designed to let the cold in, so for the few (blessed) weeks that we have chilly nights, people here think they are dying.

Will take some photos of my trainers in the morning. They were a bargain. $10 per pair!

I'm pooped today. We have people laying currently laying broadband cables outside our bedroom window. They've been there for the last 48hrs. Last night the cable became stuck, so they decided to bring in a very loud winch at 11:30pm and wondered why we were underwhelmed. Tonight I am wearing earbuds and listening to audiobooks. The winch is back. This is to bring our broadband network up to speeds which will be in line with European speeds from about 2002, probably. (I was gobsmacked when I returned to Australia at how slow ours is!!!). The guys have dug up and replaced our driveway three times in the last month as well as this.... Our tax dollars at work. EYEROLL!!!

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 14:38

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!! 🌷

Sadly my mulberry fund is currently at -£35 😄 so that isn’t going to happen for a while yet...

I’ve had a little birthday mini-haul of the whistles taco clutch, a White Stuff Savannah poncho (photo attached), a pair of earrings for summer (costume jewellery), and a Lancôme lipstick. Nothing too extravagant because we bought my wedding ring this month too, so I’m kind of counting that! 🙂

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 14:48

Actually the one pictured isn’t the exact one I ordered, I don’t think. It’s this one:

www.johnlewis.com/white-stuff-savannah-shimmer-poncho-white/p4041625

(Usually my OH surprises me with presents, and he’s very good at picking them, but this year I decided to just get a few of the things I had my eye on for summer).

Oh also, yay I won the lottery for my birthday!! - £3.30 😆😆

dontcallmelen · 22/05/2019 14:51

Laska yeahy for lovely healthy teeth & hope all goes well for tomorrow, I’m praying that Gobshite doesn’t get the votes they are forecasting, I’m desperately trying to get up to date information who best to vote for here, great looking kimono as well.
Not brilliant news about Dh promotion🍾🥂
Soy love the haul😍 yy the broderie top though doesn’t look special enough for the £.
Hat is out of the box, getting a dusting in preparation.
Definitely will be a new & very exciting next phase when you do move also feel your pain with house repairs etc, we had dreadful plastic windows here & replaced with wooden sashes the cost was extortionate, lovely that you have the original stained glass/doors we also have the original front door & it’s an ornament it’s so draughty but couldn’t bear to replace it.
Just temperature sounding much more bearable, I like the heat but not sure I could cope with it for months on end.

dontcallmelen · 22/05/2019 14:54

Nink a wedding ring you say, ooh have you set a date?
Lovely poncho, great fabric & a win on The lottery as well 😍

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 14:56

And I promise that when my eyes stop giving me grief I will read back through the whole thread and interact a bit more with what’s going on with all of you!

But now, more 🧁 🎂 🍰 for all, and 🥂 🍾

twosoups1972 · 22/05/2019 15:34

@Soy nice haul, you look great. And that's big news about selling your home. I totally get it why it's so emotional. We have lived in our house for 16 years and I can't imagine living anywhere else. But I suppose we will move one day when the dds have left home. Got a few years to go though.

@ninka Grin at your lottery win, don't spend it all at once! Enjoy your new purchases. Are you doing anything special tonight?

@sheep well done to your dh on the promotion Wine Hope you like the bag when it arrives.

I'm feeling a bit rubbish clothes wise today. Think the red Susannah dress was a mistake, I don't feel good in it. It wasn't cheap either.

twosoups1972 · 22/05/2019 16:02

See, it does nothing for me
