I am glad that thread was zapped. I was sorry I posted on it, but someone made an incorrect statement about Henry VIII, and I couldn't help myself.

The most hilarious comment on the other thread was when one poster accused Meghan of turning the royal family into a laughing stock. I think HM's own family managed that themselves long before Meghan arrived on the scene!

I believe so. Along with Tampaxgate, Squidgeygate, the English Reformation, the Civil War, the madness of King George, the Windsor Castle fire, the abdication crisis, and that rather unfortunate hat of HMQs in the seventies that took a distinct swerve towards the elaborate tea cosy look.

I see the Sussex’s have sent a £7000 piece of art as a wedding present to Idris Elba.
I heard that Royals don’t give wedding presents as a matter of form. I guess to stop people inviting them thinking they will get a lavish present.
Where is the money coming from for such an expensive present I wonder?

Seems majorly stingy if the « not giving a present « story is true.
I know they give each other joke Xmas presents ( doormats, shower caps etc)

Harry has his own money from Diana, and she left millions apparently, so I guess £7k is nothing if it comes out of that.

I think whether or not the baby has been born popping out to lend support at the marathon is his job. Most new dads have to work up until the baby is in labour, be there for the birth and be back at work the next day. I would have said to Harry pop along to the marathon show your support. Especially if I had my mum and a nanny to help out. It isn`t as if he can make himself useful, cooking, cleaning really is it.

Harry is estimated to be worth 40 million, from the trust fund left by QM and from Diana's estate, Meghan 5 million, so a few grand is nothing to them.

Did you really just ask where two very rich people who spend about 3-4k on a suit or dress without a blink get the money to spend £7k on a wedding present?

I'm much, much, much lower on the income scale and spent £150 on a gift for the last wedding I went to and £200 for one I couldn't attend.

I promise I haven't robbed a bank recently.
