Kate has a garden in the Chelsea flower show

Does she actually do the garden herself?

Becles · 28/04/2019 19:56

@SevenSeasofRye the royal family don't give presents, why can't someone else with her own traditions change the done thing?

SevenSeasofRye · 28/04/2019 19:57

Curly, Meghan is very ‘look at me’ all the time. So it’s consistent.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/04/2019 19:58

Zara is technically not a member of the royal family - that sounds like sheer tightness on her account!

SevenSeasofRye · 28/04/2019 20:02

Maybe, I think it’s more that the RF think they’ll be invited to get lavish presents rather than for themselves. I agree it does seem tight. The guests at their weddings would give presents I assume but not the other way round.

queenofarles · 28/04/2019 20:03

They don’t give presents ever ever? Not even on birthdays?

SevenSeasofRye · 28/04/2019 20:04

Apparently not. They were close friends too.

Butterymuffin · 28/04/2019 20:08

Tight. You could get them something not costly but meaningful. Good for H&M for doing the decent present-giving thing.

beachyhead · 28/04/2019 20:12

How far 'out' of the Royal Family do you have to be, to 'not give presents'? Smile

SevenSeasofRye · 28/04/2019 20:13

But £7,000??

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/04/2019 20:15

I imagine that for celebrity weddings £7k is pretty standard.

You definitely should watch Valentino , the last Emperor. The seamstresses are incredibly talented, and it’s such a shame that couture is a dying art.

Claire Waight Keller says in May's Tatler that she reintroduced couture at Givenchy, which delighted Hubert de Givenchy.

Quote from article about haute couture by the numbers:
4,000 – The estimated number of total couture buyers in the world. Over 200 of which – including socialite Marjorie Harvey, heiress/artist Daphne Guinness, socialite/philanthropist Lynn Wyatt, designer Ulyana Sergeenko (who was married to Russian insurance billionaire Danil Khachaturov), Lena Perminova (former model and wife of Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedev), Queen Rania of Jordan, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, novelist Danielle Steel, and socialite Mouna Ayoub Zulu – are regular buyers.

queenofarles · 28/04/2019 20:20

Thats Cheap of them!
wouldn’t expect expensive gifts, but something nice and thoughtful. Smile

StCharlotte · 28/04/2019 20:24

LoversLane I booked tickets as a Christmas present for a friend (and myself of course Wink). So glad I booked early! We have a family member staying this week from the US who also works for a popular museum and who is also considering membership...

itswinetime · 28/04/2019 20:35

I guess each royal can make a personal choice. I imagine it's one of those rules that are spoken about in the press ect that don't exist! Zara has chosen not to Meghan has chosen to do! Each to there own.

7k sounds a lot but proportionately for their level of wealth it's probably the equivalent of rocking up to the evening do with a nice bottle of champers Grin.

And as for Meghan wearing the coat done up to Eugenie's wedding there are loads of reasons she may have done that maybe she was cold! Maybe her skirt was particularly floaty and she was worried about the wind? Who knows! Looking and the speculation about Eugenie post wedding and Kate whenever she isn't actually pregnant, no matter what they wear people seem to speculate and that close to their wedding it was always going to be a question!

brizzlemint · 28/04/2019 20:41

Maybe the US visit postponement because of the baby is more to do with not wanting to have to meet POTUS.

Gooseysgirl · 28/04/2019 20:50

I bet all the RF will be drawing straws as to who has to go to the state dinner... I can't imagine Charles wanting to be anywhere near DT and his climate change denial crap.

beanaseireann · 28/04/2019 20:53

Curly's Caption Competition entry
Charlotte Casarighi " Well yes I know it's made of toilet paper, I'm just wondering is It Andrex or Cushelle ?"

itswinetime · 28/04/2019 20:55

I know first state dinner of the year and I doubt we will see many tiaras I'm betting a lot of the royals are suddenly busy in June!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/04/2019 21:04

Meghan will have the cast iron excuse of a month old newborn.
I expect Kate will draw the short straw and have to sit next to Trump.
I hope she wears a really old dress. She shouldnyywaste money trying to impress the old goat.

queenofarles · 28/04/2019 21:16

I still laugh at Trumps Walk with Queen 😂 .
He just kept walking , showing zero interest in the whole ceremony , and poor Queen trailing behind trying to catch up. He looked like an Oaf walking with a tiny old lady.

RosinaAlmaviva · 28/04/2019 21:36

Why does Trump have to come again?! Surely once was enough. I really thought we were safe from another visit unless he got a second term. Angry

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/04/2019 21:39

Kate has a garden in the Chelsea flower show

I believe she has co-designed part of it. There was a bit of a media flurry because the D&DOS are involved with the charity Camfed which is also designing a garden for the Show.

The Fail - bless them - tried to imply rivalry but afaik the Sussexes have had no actual involvement in the garden.
